Hardhouse44 289 Posted August 8, 2009 I hadn’t seen our new signing before today. I’m not one to attend preseason friendlies. Guess when it comes to watching our club, league and cup games are more than enough punishment for me.But seriously the preseason had gone well. I read the reports and nobody could fail to be impressed with the Wigan result last week.As I walk away from Carrow Road today following a final whistle I welcomed as much as if we were hanging on to a 1-nil win in the FA cup final I took time alone to contemplate what I had seen today. More than anything my thought were of our new players and exactly what we have signed. Have we signed a clutch of players who today en masse had a one off stinker. Is it possible that all of our new signings that played today along with the players we already had simple had the biggest shocker of their careers.Who have we actually signed. Players who are capable of competing at the top end of this league? Truth is on the evidence of albeit one awful performance I can’t 100% say. However I ask myself this. How many of the players we have signed were target of other clubs how many clubs did we fend off to acquire those precious signatures. Players surplus to requirements and clubs like Preston! Is that a high enough standard of capture. Have we signed good targeted players that we have set our stall out to get or have we just signed the only players who would sign for us. A Paul Mcveigh that doesn’t make the bench is a strange signing don’t you think. A squad photo filler? We have not seen the “best” of our new boy I’m sure. How could we have. I just hope and pray that their best is a whole heap better than today. If it’s not then this club will be swallowed up by this league and remain in its lower gut for decades to come.
