The loaning club can insist on a recall clause, or they can waive that clause. Roeder loaned Chris Martin for the season to Luton and had no recall clause, so we couldnt recall him. We had a recall clause on Michael Spillane which meant that we could recall him at any time in January. Glen Roeders parting shot to the club and Spillane was to waive this clause just before he was sacked, hence the reason that Spillane wasnt playing for us at the end of last season.
