Dan Roper 0 Posted October 20, 2004 While we are swapping best and worst XI''s heres a team of players City signed (for good money) but never picked (probably for good reason). It''s kind of inspired by Keith Briggs:Does anyone remember...1. Scott Howie2. Neil Moore3. Paul Wilson (Ken Brown''s last signing)4. Mike Flynn5. Andy Brownrigg ("the new Dave Watson")6. Keith Briggs7. Steve Goble (in his 2nd spell)8. David Hodgeson9. Matthew Rush (got fit in time to score against us)10.Simon Ratcliffe (not all Man U reserves are worth having)11. Paul Cooksub: Dion Dublin, Danny Bloomfield
Freddy H 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Heres some more info about the Rarely Picked 11, well worth the money!!!1. Scott Howie: Made 2 apps 1 as sub when Gunny was sent off, and full game v Swindon 3-3.2. Neil Moore: 2 apps v Man City and Oldham in 1997.3. Paul Wilson. 1 app as sub v Newcastle in 1975.4. Mike Flynn: Made 361 league appearances for Stockport by the end of 2000/01 scoring 14 goals.5. Andy Brownrigg: Only 8 league appearances before Joining Norwich.6. Keith Briggs: £65,000 for 5 apps.7. Steve Goble: Flitted between Norwich and Holland, made 30 apps (in his 1st spell)8. David Hodgeson: Played for Sunderland in 1985 Milk Cup Final. Scored a hat-trick v Millwall in Milk Cup in October 1986 for City. He punched one in with his hands. (Oops that should be on bizarre happenings at Carra thread).9. Matthew Rush. Signed for £300K from the Hammers and was forever blowing knee injuries, 2 days after playing v Sunderland for us and later against Carlisle. Our friend Colin from the blades was a fan of his.10. Simon Ratcliffe: England Schoolboys captain and 6 apps for City. Debut in the home game where that other waste of cash Mirandhina played for the Toon.11. Paul Cook: £73K from Wigan. 6 apps 3 + 3 sub, could not oust Foxy or Gossy.Sub: Dion Dublin was released by Norwich without ever making a first team appearance although he played six times for the Reserves. Sub: Danny Bloomfield: On tour in East Anglia 1999 - . See him at the following Venues. Felixstowe, Norwich, Kings Lynn, Cambridge, Southend..etc. Never picked XI or rarely picked XI, a truely pants XI in my opinion and definately not memorable. If I had the wings of a sparrow 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Freddy H I think Dan meant a different Paul Wilson but you are right there was a Paul Wilson who played for Norwich son of Tug Wilson Paul went on to be a top coach in Norway & I beleive is still out there.
