Mr Magoo 0 Posted September 18, 2008 I thought that I would simply offer up my take on what is going well and where we are going wrong at the moment, it seems that this message board is very much either glass half full or glass half empty types with nothing in the middle.I personally do find it difficult to avoid getting stressed out by the pro Delia stance, but will avoid a pointless rant regarding this as it has been done to death. regardless of personal beliefs the fact is that the club is in a financial pickle, and, as supporters we can do little about this other than hope and wait for news on potential help from wealthy individuals. The finance is certainly a big negative for us at the moment. However on the upside I really do feel that we have a better group of players than last year. The defence is far superior, Kennedy and Stefanovic are simply better than Shackel and Doc ever were! The left and right back positions are relatively solid and we are not conceding often from open play.Likewise our midfield has improved, it is far from perfect, I think that Russell, Pattison, Hoolahan and Bell will all prove their worth, although would not argue with anyone saying that this combination could certainly be improved on. However I do agree with many that Fotheringham is pointless, has very little to offer either creatively or defensively, I see no leadership qualities at all in him. However one area that we still struggle in is our attack. I have seen all the home games this year and the Cardiff game, we do create some chances but we do not convert them to goals. This is the same problem as last year. Birmingham came here had one chance and scored, likewise QPR. We have had so many chances it is ridiculous. It is my real belief that we will not improve our points tally with our current crop of strike options. Sibierski is a sensible signing and will provide a bit part role. However we still do not have one 20 goals a season striker, possibly because they are loanees learning their trade or in Curetons case overconfident and overated. GR is doing a good job in a difficult situation, I see the role of loan players, but really do think that without money to invest in committed strikers owned by Norwich with the drive to shoot their way out of the championship we will always struggle. I dont think we will get relegated but we certainly will not get promoted with the current set up. However with some cash and a steadied ship I do back GR in the transfer market and do believe that if we could sign 2 good strikers we would then have a genuine chance of promotion.Anyway thats my ramble over.
