Time for the academy boys to step up

Recommended Posts

With an apparent lack of transfer funds, lack of interest from decent players and very little transfer activity.. Next season, we will end up putting our faith in youngsters such as Lathrope and Daley. Now we haven''t really had a decent youth player establish himself since Shackell and the one-season wonder Chris Martin. You see clubs like Crystal Palace, blooding youth players like no tommorow. Even those down the road are doing it. Now''s the time for either the academy to step up or forget about the whole thing. If we are so skint then it will save a few pennies here and there. To perhaps the best academy in the world, Bexfield, Renton... where are you? WHERE ARE YOU? Lets be avin'' you.. COME ON!!

Canaries Start With Win

Norwich City Under-18s 1 Leyton Orient Under-18s 0

City’s Academy side got their pre season campaign underway at Colney on Monday night with a slender 1 - 0 victory over Leyton Orient.

Ricky Martin found himself without the services of Danny Kelly who picked up a knock when he played a part in the afternoons behind closed doors friendly against Clyde. Also missing from the squad was Jed Steer who picked up a minor knee injury in training.

The only goal of the game came on 29 minutes when midfielder Tom Adeyemi found the net with a well placed shot. The Orient keeper had kept his side in the game with a couple of decent saves to deny Adeyemi while Kenny Reeves was also denied by the visitor’s keeper.

Martin used a rolling sub routine with players being used twice during the game.

City Line-up: Rudd, Cooper, Sutton, Dumic, Francomb, Habergham, Ball, Adeyemi, Davey, Richardson, Dawkin.

Subs - all used: Reeves, Brindley, Clark.
