Newcastle eyeing up Ashton!

Ashton is not happy at west ham and has been linked to an 11 million pound move to Newcastle. Would love this to happen as we have a 15% sell on clause.

And the chances of securing the England man on the cheap is unlikely due to Norwich having a 15% sell-on clause for the striker, meaning that West Ham will be looking to maximise any transfer fee recieved in order generate enough funds to buy a replacement.

Norwich City will have to wait to cash in on Dean Ashton''s call-up to the full England side.

The West Ham striker made his international debut in the 3-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.

As part of the terms of his £7.25m move to Upton Park in 2006, the Canaries negotiated a £125,000 payment if Ashton plays for England while he is still with the Hammers - but the agreement applied only to a competitive fixture, not to friendlies.

England''s World Cup qualifying campaign starts in September.

Not true, most of the £125,000 was waived to get Peter Grant here.
