3canaries 0 Posted September 3, 2007 Why for so long do we have the inability to kill a game off? At 1-0 up we NEVER look comfortable and seem hell bent on sitting back and trying to soak up the pressure. At Cardiff on Saturday, we looked good for the first period, and should of killed the game off by half-time.I think we''re all pinning our hopes on Jimmy Smith, and to a certain extent Huckerby, to give us the creative edge we so desperately need. So many times on Saturday were were shouting for our wide men to beat their men, but on most occasions (and Lappin was guilty the most), we stopped, looked back, and knocked it to the defenders. Please, please, can we just try! You cannot fault Lappins dead-ball, and crosses, but please just try and take your man on, this draws out a defender or two and should give us the edge.I do have to agree with another poster who said the Brellier/Russell partnership isn''t working. For me, they are a similar type of player, yes Russell does get forward, but he''s a battler who wins you the ball (albeit more up field than Brellier), but he doesn''t have the creativeness. I''d like to see Cureton playing off Brown''s shoulder more, for me they were too far apart. Brown played well and one the majority of his headers, but Cureton was no where to be seen for the flick-ons.It''ll be very interesting when we are finally injury free in a month or so and then we''ll see how Grants really wants his team to play - will Smith play central with either Russell or Brellier - will Grant accomodate all 3 and sacrifice width? How would Huckerby fit in with this - playing up front with a 3 with Brown & Cureton? - where does that leave out and out wingers Lappin, Croft and Chadwick? The above poses a number of questions of Grants (and Duffy''s) tacticals. When we have a full squad, it feels complete, but how does he accomodate players styles and what''s the best formation for us to actually go out, play attractive football, and finally kill of teams??
