worthy happy with first half performance!!

Recommended Posts

i see in the notw that worthy was happy with the first half performance!

i was at the game yesterday and i must admit that it was the biggest load of s*** i have seen for a while!!

we didnt pass well, didnt tackle,it was like the players forgot to turn up!!!

we know we needed signings in most positions at the end of last season and i admit worthy done well with croft, but that is about it-he had months to bring new players in-but being worthy he tries to be clever and leaves it till the last minute and hey ho it backfires!!-we get no one!!

we cant sign anyone permanant now til jan-i think the board will be looking for a new manager around that time aswell!!!

fingers crossed!!!!

I wasn''t actually too worried about the performance in the first half. Palace are a good team with some quality players. They also had a much better season than us last season and I always thought this was going to be a really tough game. The first half of a football match is often poor and it''s only later on in the game that better football starts to be played. Both teams are scrapping away initailly trying to work each other out etc. What worried me to a much greater extent was our failure to create chances after the break despite having the better of the play for the early stages of the second half and how we went to sleep and invited so much pressure at the end of the game. Couple that with our lack of players, the apparent lack of ideas from Earnie if plan A isn''t coming off and an inibilty to change the team formation for the better if we wish and that in my opinion is the main cause for concern.

I would be happy to take 0-0 at half time against good teams like palace with a scrappy performance if we then push on and build on it after half time! Sadly we did anything but that! I don''t think we can expect to play the better teams in this league off the park in the first half at every home game or even at any point through the game - sometimes it will be about battling and coming out of a scrappy game 1-0 winners. For me it was the underlying problems behind the performance rather than the performance itself that was and continues to be the real worry!
