Are we Villa in disguise?

Recommended Posts

The more I read and hear about the desperate situation at Villa Park the more I worry for the future of our club.

The similarities are quite remarkable, it''s not that long ago Villa were a top of the table Club always pushing for a place in Europe, now I''d back them to go down (well I would if the odds were any better as they''re one of the bookies favourites).

Disenchanted fans are voting with their wallets by not buying season tickets, The manager (who is in contempt of the fans) will not leave and they will not sack him for no other apparent reason than the large sum of money lost/saved. No transfer kitty as the Chairman refuses to give the manager funds, nobody seems to want to play for them anyway including some existing squad members apparently, so with just a few weeks ''til the new season they''re stuck with the same team who only just scraped to safety last year but with the club morale now into minus figures. Fans are split, some want the manager out, some want the Chairman out, some want both!

All want a cash injection, new players and a return to mid table safety/mediocrity.

The club is in freefall with dressing room rumours and leaks to the Press common, mistrust between the Management, players and coaching staff abounds.............

I could go on all night but I''m sure you''ve all read plenty about this recently.

My point is that O''Leary was given a pretty large budget to play with, managed a decent season followed by one pretty poor and one dreadful season where the club finished below everyone else''s expectations. Ellis has put a halt to the big spending as he feels too much has been wasted on poor quality signings etc etc.

We''ve had NW handed the biggest transfer budget ever made available through this club, We did have a good season, but we''ve now had two poor seasons, the moneys stopped and just like Villa and O''Leary, in my opinion Worthy has now outstayed his welcome, his limitations have been cruelly exposed, season ticket renewals have already dropped significantly, I can only hope our board are closely monitoring the goings on at Villa Park, I feel we will be at that stage if we have another poor season (reluctanly I see no reason whatsoever that our performances will dramatically improve with what is after all pretty well the same squad) then we as a Club may be in exactly the same situation in a years time as Villa are now.

IMO the only way for Villa to rectify the situation is to bite the bullet and cut off the infected limb to save the body. Sack O''Leary, sod the cost! At least a new manager would be allowed some transfer money and they might just win a few of the several thousand disenchanted ticket holders back?????
