YankeeCanary 0 Posted May 30, 2006 Recently, somebody posted a reminder shortcut to the video of the infamous half-time Delia chant of "Where are you...where are you. Let''s be ''avin you!" I must say, with all that has transpired since then, I could not help but think she could repeat the exercise but, this time, looking in the mirror while she does so. It seems so much more appropriate. This got me thinking about the pent-up anticipation of the fans as they began to see the club moving forward prior to our promotion season, having spent a decade dealing with essentially mediocrity. Now, while things are not disastrous, clearly the bloom is off the rose. Worthington looks like a manager devoid of ideas or even good decision making ability. The unfortunate injury to Robert Green. We seem to have more focus on the liabilities associated with Huckerby than the excitement when he first arrived. A memory of this past season of a weak midfield that seems to have been by-passed by the defence hoofing the ball directly up to the forwards. A dependence for quality on someone like Paul McVeigh who was clearly out of favour and ready to be sold off a short time previously. A lack of belief by management in our own youth programme, confirmed by not giving our youngsters enough of a run but now being tied to the possibility of looking for youngsters from West Ham. Fans at the ground and on this message board aligned against each other. Last but certainly not least, an almost ominous silence from management and the Board about any clear intentions that would signal to the loyal signed-up fans that this club is ready to embark with serious endeavour on another challenge to enter, never mind sustain, Premiership status.Lots of weeds, not many roses. Time for some serious gardening I think.
