Doug Livermore - Yes Man??

Recommended Posts

Stanley Collymore mentions Doug Livermore in his autobiography Tackling My Demons.  He is marked out as being the same kind of character as his then manager Roy Evans.

In a paragraph where he talked of Evan''s inability to control the players and his tactical ineptness he quotes directly from the book:

"Focusing on Evans again, Collymore added: "Roy Evans never harnessed our talent. He never really convinced me he was a man who had real footballing principles other than ''pass it and move, pass and move''. That was the Liverpool mantra but you needed something more than that. There was no one to provide it. Doug Livermore, the assistant manager, was the same kind of character as Roy."

As you would expect here are further quotes in the book pertaining to the then management team of Roy Evans and Doug Livermore, and Stan''s opinions of their ability to control the players and the tactical direction the club took during the period that Stan was at the club. I cannot add them here until I get to quote them from the book directly.

Which I will be looking to do.

[au]In My Opinion[au]:

I would reckon that Livermore seems a poor coach, looks unable to stand up to the players or more senior management and comes across as just a yes man with no ideas.
