Reason for changing formation against Leeds

Recommended Posts

The fear of a 7-0 drubbing against Chelsea is Farke may be even more stubborn to prove his 3-5-2, or is it 5-3-2 can provide defensive solidity.

Our defence has been, how can I put it politely, bordering on awful in majority of games this season, whatever formation we play.

Wasn't it Lambert's (& I don't want him back) philosophy that was score more goals than the opposition and you'll win (quite simple!). Knowing that we'll leak goals whatever formation,  my argument is we can't relay on defensive solidity, so we need to get our attacking game going and hope we can bang in some goals.

To that end I'd go with 4-2-3-1. We need to get Rashica & Tzolis, and either Cantwell/Dowell/Sargent behind Pukki to create some chances

IMO we want Normann, but PLM has been good/bad, and Mclean hasn't been great for a number of games now. Whether Gilmour is needed with other creative players, or is too lightweight, surely we have to look to Sorenson to partner Normann as the player to play that CDM role, and the role we bl**dy bought him for. If all else have failed in that type of role this season (and they have) Farke must be obstinate not to try him there (and he must be good enough if he was on the bench against Chelsea)

Who plays in defence is anyone's guess. I really couldn't suggest who the two in the centre are our strongest. I actually feel we should try Omo & Kabak together.
