Oliveira joined city on the 30th August 2016 and we played Birmingham away on the 27th August 2016 so he was not in a position to replace Jerome.

If you are going to play with two attack minded full backs then you need two quality centre backs (Martin is not good enough as a CB. in the Championship) and one possibly two disciplined central midfield players who will play just in front of the two centre backs.

I say disciplined central midfield players because what you don''t need there are players who go on glory runs (like Johnson) and leave space in front of the centre backs.

if you play 2+2 then in effect you have a "box" shape in front of the goal.
