1.
No idea Nutty, just think it might be a tad presumptuous to assume it''s all McNally''s fault. Just pointing out that even if he hypothetically wanted to replace Hughton in December he wouldn''t be able to make that decision on his own.
Having spoken to him about this issue he made it quite clear that until the fans reaction after the WBA game he had been satisfied with where we were under Hughton, although sometimes confused by team selection. However, with regard to selection it isn''t his place to interfere as that''s why they employ a manager. Playing Wes on the left was an example he mentioned.

He also maintained that Hughton''s record in the Premier League was directly comparable to that of his peers, was at least the equal of Lambert''s at Villa amongst others.

He went on to say that following the reaction at the end of the WBA game it was clear that the relationship between supporters and the regime at the time was broken beyond repair and that something had to give.

It was then that they decided to gamble. It hasn''t paid off. So far.

I think the "sensible" decision would have been to give Hughton until the end of the season, but I can also see that if they had done that and we''d gone down anyway, far more criticism could have been levelled at the board for not trying something, for not rolling the dice. He was right with what he said about the WBA reaction and at least the change meant that the fans stayed behind the team for the Fulham and Liverpool games. Had Hughton still been in charge for either of those defeats the reaction would have been very different. In that respect, they''ve been right. In terms of results, were we really MORE likely to achieve the points we needed under the guy that had a proven record of pulling a win out of the bag when needed and under whom we had beaten Man City, Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal or under the guy that had never managed a team at League level, let alone Premier League level?

Of course, we''ll never know. We couldn''t have had less points than we have now if Hughton HAD stayed though. We just have to hope that Adams can pull a couple of very big rabbits out of the hat.

  2. I haven''t been to a game since the Play-Off final Bury.

How were the pundits not right? They seem to have been fairly close to the mark.

All these excuses about "time" and "habits" is just that, excuses. The hard truth is that there has been no tangible improvement since the sacking. All the "just take the brakes off" and "let them play their own game, stop worrying about the opposition" and "we''ve got the bullets but the manager can''t load the gun" has so far appeared to be poppycock.

If you want to promote an argument allowing for time and players being so used to a certain format, then the only sensible option would have been to keep Hoots until the end of the season and change then as, like it or not, playing in "that" style earned us all 32 points we currently have and the players knew his methods.

  3.
We relied on other team''s ineptitude too long, and this is what we get.

A gutless board refusing to make a positive move until we had no winnable games left made for a Cinderella finish to Sunderland''s season. And we''re the ugly step-sisters.

    .
Winnable games? Sunderland have found a way to win them.

The board backed the man they thought was best for the job until we, the supporters, bottled them out of it. We''ve been left with a PE teacher holding the fort and have collapsed just like the pundits said we would.

It now looks likely that we need to win both games for the bonkers gamble to pay off. There''s still life in her yet....

  4. Relegation has really hurt the Bristolians, I wonder if we''ll see similar scenes next weekend after the Arsenal game?

Will our board be on the receiving end of a fans backlash? Five points clear of the drop and they decide to sack the manager, just three games later and we''re three points adrift. The pundits were right, weren''t they?

  5.
Played 18

    Scored 11 (Worst In League)

    Conceded 44 (Worst In League)

    Points 8 (Worst In League)

Shows how much Hughton destroyed are club and sent us down
That is a shocking set of statistics for Houghton''s CV. Good job we sacked him when we did or we would have even less goals and points on the road.

  6.
It matters not one jot whether Barnaby is a bear, burch, binner etc.He asks a perfectly reasonable question and I defy anyone , on the strength of all Norwich City''s recent away offerings,to suggest that Sunday afternoon is  likely to be anything other than yet another no-show/humiliation.If anyone has any evidence to suggest otherwise, I''d be very interested to hear it .
Simple. It was all Houghton''s fault and now that the players can play without the "brakes" on, we''ll be fine.

We won''t be worried about the opposition come Sunday, we''ll play to our strengths.

Finally, it won''t just be a case of throwing a handful of rice at the wall, the new manager knows that the best thing to do with the bullets we have is to load them into the gun, to give them an aim.

    Sunday is Firing Time.

  7.

As an ex-Posh season ticket holder......
Blimey it''s a small world.  "......and Smith must score." who posts on here used to be the other one. [:O]
What about Rudolph Hucker, he used to have a season ticket too....

  8. Really GingerPele?

You don''t understand the tribal element of football support? The bitter local rivalries that transcend generations?

Would you wear an Ipswich shirt? How about a scarf? I''d feel sick if I came into contact with anything like that, ugly colours, ugly kits, ugly stadium, ugly town.

Ugh, it''s just horrible. I''d buy Ipswich and close it down but the worry is that some of them might head North, yuk. Scum.

  9. If Rooney is Snodgrass'' man, we were in trouble anyway - however, for all that he didn''t track him, more worrying was the fact that nobody in our defence realised the danger and came out to meet the ball/close down the oncoming attacker who has made a career out of scoring goals from distance.

I appreciate the identification of a "mistake" but if we''re relying on Robert Snodgrass to stop the goals as well as score and create them....?

Wow. And people said Hughton concentrated on our defensive discipline.. :-)

  10. I don''t understand it.

If you spend a lot of time around something that stinks you must pick up that scent too. If there really is someone who posts on here that has a soft spot for the scum, they should be easy enough to sniff out as they''ll have a whiff of bin about them.

Probably a holier than thou type, one of those butter wouldn''t melt snitches that got their head flushed down the lavatory at school.

At the end of the day, if you have a likeness for that filthy tribe, their dirty fans or just want to post nice things about them, join TWTD or start your own bloody forum!!

Scumlovers, there should be a register so you always know when you''re near one.

  11.
So much would depend on the Manager and the system used.

Having paid the amount we have we might be better off seeing what a bit of confidence can produce

It must be hell carrying 20 thousand on your back every home game!
I agree, or I would if he played every home game. At the moment he''d compete to get in an all time sh1t XI with of Coney, Cureton and Sheron.

  12. People see what they want to see or what they think they should. The stewardship of Hughton and subsequent performances under Adams are testament to that.

Snodgrass is the best player at the club. In fact, he is by such a distance that I can''t even think of a competitor for that title.

No doubt someone will suggest the bang average Olsson and he isn''t fit to lace the boots of Adam Drury. He doesn''t do a lot wrong but then he doesn''t do a lot full stop. :-)
It''s a shame he didn''t go in January, we could have then played conventional wingers and we may have seen some reward from our forwards.

Why couldn''t we play conventional wingers with him here?
because he''s not quick enough
But he''s quick enough to play on the right?
as a wide midfielder rather than a winger

    Riiiiiiiiight

    Ok

You really don''t know how the football club works do you?

On several previous managerial appointments the club has sought the advise of Dave Stringer for the purpose of advising them on football matters, they also sound out respected figures in the game like Jimmy Armfield & Roy Hodgson, the joint majority share holders are (unlike you) self aware and they know where their shortcomings are.

Oh really smart ars*..........thats why they hung on to CH until it was too late is it?
Too late? It''s looking a lot like they jettisoned him too early at the moment. Still, two games to go for the gamble to pay off.
