Are we less likely to win in such circumstances?

My point is/was that none of this stuff matters when we’re winning. Nobody gives a shiny Tom **** about “corporate governance” or Delia being Delia or contracts for young players and, undeniably, the atmosphere in the ground is upbeat. As I’ve said elsewhere, when Delia spouts some old sh1te about the best supporters in the world when we get promoted or whatever, she’s just a loveable old dear in the background. Talk about the fans when we’re NOT winning and she’s an out of touch, dictatorial, power crazed narcissist clinging on to power. It’s mental gymnastics.

I have been asked about “improving atmosphere” at Carrow Road a few years ago. The simple answer I gave was to win more games. I’m yet to be convinced there’s another answer. That infernal fcking drum certainly wasn’t it.

The issue is more fundamental IMO. Norwich City is a business, but it’s not a traditional one, no FC is.

Supporters cannot leave their club anymore than we can stop loving our children.

That means supporters aren’t going anywhere, not permanently, no matter how bad it gets or how much they may dislike something.

Knowing that, attacking them in any sense is rather pointless whether they will never be satisfied or not, they aren’t going anywhere and you’re just stoking division. It amazes me how that lesson has not been learnt.

All it’s done is created the exact environment you’re complaining about. After all if only 20% whinge why aren’t 80% creating the atmosphere still? I’d wager it’s because a large proportion of the most passionate supporters are in the 20%. We all instinctively know this from where the most noise is usually generated from be it positive or negative in the ground.

I hear you. Though I’m still not sure what she said was stoking division. What she said is, fundamentally, true. If we get on our own teams backs, it’s manna from heaven for the opposing team and manager. Because things are pretty moody at present, any oppo manager coming to Carrow Road is surely going to suggest that they start really hard, chase everything, and be front foot. It won’t be sustainable, but if us lot start groaning and go quiet(er) then it’s the first battle won.

It has changed in recent years too, I think. When we’ve looked like we are challenging - going back years and years - if we conceded there’d be an absolute chorus of OTBC ring out around the ground, an effort to lift the team and confirmation that we were still with them. These days, we might score a goal and then a “How Sh1t Must You Be, We’re Winning At Home” or something might ring out. I love a bit of gallows as much as the next fan but we do seem short on memory as to how bad we could/can be.

It can’t possibly help and while clumsily put, she wasn’t wrong. As I’ve said elsewhere, Delia doesn’t change. She says daft things when we’re doing well and daft things when we’re not. It’s just that when we’re doing well she’s that lovable old girl in the background and when we’re not she’s an omnipotent harridan, betrayed by her years. Just like she’s a passenger when we’re in the front foot and running the show when we’re not.

It’s all b0ll0cks of course. She’s not banging on the boardroom table and demanding that Hernandez starts; they pay people handsomely to make those decisions and to decide who to let make those choices.

I completely understand the animosity towards Wagner; I’d sack him. Yet during the game, our only choice, the only way we can influence the game positively, is to back whoever Wagner picks, get behind them, cane the opposition and berate the officials every time they give a decision against us.

Come 90 minutes, if we get thumped, have your “say”. It’s done then. But at least you/we will all know that WE left everything out there for the team even if Hernandez couldn’t finish a Happy Meal or Gibson pass the parcel at a 6yo birthday party.

I think that’s what she was driving at and I don’t think she was wrong. I’m certainly not crying about it.

Is Colin Keatley still the owner ? He was the landlord of the New Savoy Tavern the Capital Canaries pub just off the Strand back in the 70's

I believe so. It’s managed for him, or was when I used to use it regularly a few years back. He was spending a lot of time in Asia on travels but there was still a family presence.

Firstly, top poster. You write, I usually take the time to read.

Anyway, the problem with your 'rallying cry' is that it's lost on this current group of players and management. There's no fight at the club, the malaise and air of defeat is tangible at every single facet.

The Iwan brace you reference, has to be one of the all time EA derby shocks. It was beautiful! Sure we were a poor side, yet players like  Daryl Sutch, Matt Jackson, Craig Fleming, Lee Marshall and Iwan himself were leaders and fighters. They got what it meant to supporters, wore their heart on their sleeve, and we're able to cause an upset through belief and mental strength.

Tell me, who in this current side is going to run through walls at Portman Road in 2 weeks? Barnes, probably. Batth, maybe? Apart form that, the team's mental strength is broken. There's no way this current team can be made to be more motivated than Ipswich will be. That's not being unable to 'find my balls', it's just being realistic. This team and manager just can't inspire anything, let alone a fanbase to become excited and hopeful of good things to come.

It's just awful at the minute. The only chance at this point IMO, is 'new manager bounce.'

You may well turn out to be right, of course. I don’t know what the prospects of some others being back by then are, Gunn and Hanley maybe? Kenny will put a shift in I guess.

We may well get beat but I’ll adamantly refuse to have it until it happens and that’s how I’ve always been when it comes to that lot. I do get what you’re saying about mentality but all we can do is try to get ours in a place where we do our collective best to try and drag them up (that’s a very royal we as I’m not going) but that’s what I’m getting at. I appreciate it’s a two way street but, as fans, we can only look after our side of the road and hope it inspires those on the other.

  5. Bunch of fannies. We’ve been worse than this and gone there and won. Can’t believe how much of a bunch of crying melts we’ve become.

Used to be a time going there would get the fans fired up who in turn would push on the players; the way socials and this board read now, we’re more likely to applaud them, take photos of their magnificent stadium and cry a bit about corporate governance.

In the politest possible way.. **** IPSWICH. Let’s go and have a go, stick it to them, sod all the bleating about who you want in this job or that job or growing veg or the ****ing soccerbot. We turned them over when they were better than us pretty often, Bellamy’s header, Iwan Bergkamp’s brace…

    Find your balls.

Yes I will attend, I wish tell them of my disappointment and fail of a board with no back bone,to make difficult decisions, for the best of this club. It's not a family club what's a family club mean?. As I have said before this will be my last year as a season ticket holder. Enough is enough.

And I already know who will applaud earnestly…

Where is your seat by the way?

The attached is from an email I received from the Dons Trust associated with AFC Wimbledon earlier this week which is instructive in terms of the polite and inclusive way they have dealt with fan finance schemes. As further background their initial scheme invited original terms of 5,10 or 20 years as desired with return rates selected by the customer of 0,1,2,3 or 4%.

It puts us to shame by comparison.20231124_090721.thumb.jpg.2a8991291813e733fa2962d38ed2a980.jpg

The admin teams only have one job to do and Barnley's couldn't do that, so I have no sympathy for them.

The Binners face the same challenges as us with regards to stadium expansion although may find it slightly easier to relocate some of their 21,000 season ticket holders. Zoe described our expansion costs as something like 'astronomical' so it will be interesting to hear how much it will cost them, and how they fund it.

They could run a “Be a Binner for a Day” scheme… Form an orderly queue, chaps!!

This reply is so back to front you’d have be schizophrenic to fully get it! Love it Nutty!!

Wow. This will save the NHS some money. You’re a Paranoid Schizophrenic.

Delusions. These are persistent false beliefs. A person who has a delusional belief usually won't change their mind even if faced with strong evidence. Delusions involving paranoia are often "persecutory," which means a person believes that someone is trying to harm them or negatively affect their life.

Hallucinations. These are events a person imagines (usually in the form of something that a person hears or sees). A person who has a hallucination typically can't tell that what they're experiencing isn't real. These commonly feed into delusions by giving the person additional "evidence" to confirm that someone is trying to harm or upset them.

    Lack of insight

A common feature of schizophrenia is a symptom known as anosognosia. This condition, often described as “lack of insight,” means that a person’s brain can’t recognize any signs, symptoms or other evidence of a medical condition that they have. This lack of insight is very common with schizophrenia, which is why people with schizophrenia often don't believe that they have the condition and are more likely to resist treatment.

Delusions, hallucinations and lack of insight.

Quite the accurate self-diagnosis. Maybe that smacking of your head outside the BerStrete Gates had more of an impact than you thought.

Of course, I don’t mean it. I’m sure that you are perfectly rational spending your life on the message board of a club you have no connection to. But, Ronnie Kray was a paranoid schizophrenic and look what happened to him.

I apologise to anyone that suffers with ANY mental health condition because I’ve reacted to a moron making fun of such illnesses.
