  1. A quite astonishing run of events. Sack a manger . Leave the coach in charge who doesn''t show any ambition in even asking for the job

Play exactly the same way as before - no change in system.

Add into it the smoke and mirrors nonsense of a "restructure" whilst in effect giving up on a season with 12 games to go! We could easily have caught Sheff Wed as Fulham have with any sort of decent run.

S top pissing around and go and get a new manager. What''s so hard about that ? Have we mentioned the Norwich Way lately ? That''s usually in the spin somewhere . Anyone would think we have a politician as a spokesman. Maybe Alastair Campbell is free too.

What a horrible , depressing season. All concerned should hang their heads in shame.

I suspect Adidas or Nike would charge the club a lot more for their shirts than Errea.

I''ve seen the ITFC deal with Adidas and it is not great for the binners. One of the aspects is an end of year penalty based around breaches of their contract - in turn based around players or staff being seen wearing non Adidas gear. If one of them is on social media wearing a Nike hat or similar - the club gets knocked for it. It applies to the Ladies team too.

I''m sure Errea have something similar, but there is a reason we use Errea and not Adidas!

  3. Well thank goodness that''s cleared it up.

A vague hotel in London (that narrows it down) , with a random football figure , that we will all be very happy about.

I suppose which hotel and who the figure was it a step too far.

It''s not even the school holidays either.

  4. Really this is something and nothing. A cynic might say that promising an announcement at a low ebb - then announcing the "appointment" of a managing director who isnt really an MD - but fulfilling the role he has been doing for many months - is a decent bit of PR and nothing else .

Steve is a good bloke and a good professional man. He was equally "passionate" about Bingo back in the day. All things Operational , and Finance as well as most of the Legals have been reporting into him since McNally went . He is more than capable and will crunch the numbers properly

Of course what it doesn''t sort is the difficult bit . And that''s the Football. We are no closer to the Football Director or the Manager but the announcement has taken the heat off nicely . Anyone would think we had a politician in our ranks 😀

  5. What they need is someone clearly and inequivacobly responsible for announcements. Otherwise an announcement might not be an announcement, more a vague communication or imprecise edict.

Any announcements will of course have to be cleared by the chosen individual or perhaps an announcement committee. I would assume some form of prior announcement will be necessary.

I also feel that the position should involve the incumbent sporting a hat of some kind. The details of which will be announced in due course.

Can anyone cite a good example of when in England, a DOF has worked well? Might be a common model on the continent, but seems not to work well here, with the ''manager'' feeling undermined or emasculated or DOF interfering too much.

I scratch my heads when English teams talk of doing this, seems to never work well, like playing certain formations...

Were Rioch/Hamilton in this kind of arrangement I cant remember...

Good question. I suddenly had that dreadful press conference in my mind with Rioch and Hamilton - where they were asked who would actually pick the team and Ham pointed nervously to Rioch.

In my opinion it isn''t just about the roles, but the skills. A club needs football people with a network of contacts and negotiating skills to attract players and build the squad. It needs a numbers man (that''s the easy bit - Stone can do this ) but we have fiddled around with the "Joe Royle" role far too long. I''ll be happy if this an experienced football man (like Roy but I cant see it) but NOT IF IT IS RICKY FLAMING MARTIN !!!!

  7. The media coverage of events just prior to, and after Neils sacking proves, once again how little anyone knows what is going on.

Look at the various twitter feeds and you see how a story is shared around, with the journo''s claim to be well informed.

No one predicted him going on Friday , and as soon as he does , within seconds we have a nailed on replacement in Pardew. Even the well respected Pat Murphy said his appointment was to be made within 48 hours - and suggested to a doubter to check back on Monday (curiously this tweet has been deleted).

Since then of course Nursey has suggested Pardew, and now Hodson. Charlie Wyett went for Rowet and then broke the news that we were going to sell Wes.

The truth I imagine is that he got sacked , the club will carry on with this "restructuring" thing, and then the manager/ coach / spongeman will be offered a job within the structure?

Meanwhile Rowett has gone (strange as he was apparently waiting for us)

Sorry to be boring , but I think its best just to wait and see.

On the tax/IHT point, can I just clear this up.

Shares in an unlisted trading company benefit from 100% business property relief from IHT - meaning they pass tax-free on death. See this link on the HMRC website. https://www.gov.uk/business-relief-inheritance-tax/what-qualifies-for-business-relief

So there would be no tax benefit on giving the shares now, except that it avoids the risk of BPR being removed by the government before the death of the donor - which seems pretty unlikely as it''s a relief that has been around a long time. And there is a CGT advantage to passing the shares on death rather than giving them when the donor is alive - happy to go into the details on that if anyone is interested.

Actually that is interesting ICF, it was me that posed the question so you have cleared it up.

As a matter of interest, CGT is an interesting one. What sort of "gain" have the shareholders made since purchase?

  9. I think it may be a side issue but I have mentioned before that Inheritance Tax Planning could have an influence. No expert but shares of a "going concern" being transferred don''t attract IHT , and the fact that a Trust has been mentioned supports this. At the time of Tom "inheriting" shares if Delia or Michael die , the shares would ordinarily form part of the estate , and would be independently valued - potatially a sizeable sum and lots of IHT.

That could all be cobblers of course . As I say I''m no expert.if anyone knows better please tell us!

  10. Sorry but today was one of the few games where you had be there to comment . The atmosphere was odd, the reactions extreme and when we walked out the fans in the Barclay and on the trains were as one - aiming the fault at the board not Irvine . The strangest game I have been too in many years . I suspect you had to be there to feel it .
