I think it is.  The best result for us on Wednesday is Coventry kicking seven shades out of Hull, and I don't think they'd have been keen to play as hard if they had a day at Wembley guaranteed.

Tough on Coventry, but the best outcome for us I think.

    Thoughts?

I can see Coventry being a spent force after their cup exploits recently and Hull to win, but who knows. Im sure they'll be more twists and turns.

My memory is that after a similar amount of minutes, the consensus on here was that Hwang was useless. Maybe SvH will leather one in from 40 yards on Saturday

I thought technically Hwang was good. It didnt help with his explicit filming allegations, but regardless is better than Idah

Rowe looks quicker on his feet than any player we have - and probably any other team in the championship. That he can go either way and at speed at defenders makes him almost unplayable at times. It would be great to keep him for another season - and maybe we can, especially if we are promoted - it is such a shame that the best players get sold on so quickly and we don't get to see them for more than a few games.

Whatever happens, if he is fit to the end of this season, he is a real weapon to have in our challenge for promotion.

I dont think Rowe offers pace per say, more he is accomplished at running with the ball and makes defenders back off him. My only issue with Sainz is he likes losing the ball in and around our box after winning it and trying to play out from the back. He also seems to like cutting in from the wing, rather than taking on his man. Both are good options to have and Sainz will only get better, as will Rowe providing he can add to his fitness levels.

7 goals in 10 games for Celtic

12 goals in 99 games for Norwich

is it an easier league- or did he just need more minutes? Answers on postcard…

And will he want to return? I doubt it

Im still not an Idah fan. I think he needed a new challenge/club in order to progress. Seems to be an impact sub mainly for Celtic where he's doing well.  In hindsight he would of probably been a better option from what i've seen of SVH, who I suspect may struggle to fit in here, but remains to be seen re: fitness and what he can offer.

It’s high time we stopped thinking that aging, injury and error prone players like Hanley, Duffy or Gibson are a solution. We get one decent game out of them in ten (thankfully against the scum however) - but we need rid of the lot of them. There’s nothing to fear about Hanley retiring. It would be welcome, frankly.

A pretty poor post with lack of consideration for Hanleys efforts.

  6. I think the wider subject here is that most people thought the above 3 players werent good enough and were pleased to see them shipped out. The lack of cover brought in was incredibly poor, as you can see a couple of injuries would derail our playoff push almost instantly. It also highlights the pressure on the starting 11 as our bench is either unproven, not match fit or youth players. We really shouldnt be in that position, nor any club for that matter.

  7. I think if we manage to sneak promotion he isn't good enough for the Premiership and I suspect the wages he would command in the championship would be too high to sustain for another season. I wonder with coaching Sam M would push on and improve and Gianni would be sold & we'll be looking for a replacement for him. Sounds the most viable option currently, but of course remains to be seen.

Personally, and I realise this will upset some, well, many people, I don’t think Jonny Rowe is any more overrated than Wes. He also could have games where he was completely anonymous, sometimes but not always redeemed by moments of great skill. But looked through the lens of nostalgia we only remember the great stuff. I think we will look back at Rowe similarly, although sadly I don’t think he will play for us anything like as long as Wes.

Im not going to lie, this upset me. Wes was a great player. Jonny Rowe is capable of providing magic moments, but you cant really compare the two.

Stacey is indeed much improved although he had such a dip in the middle of the season I can’t see him as a POTS candidate. He was really, really poor during that spell. Another one who is better attacking than defending which seems to be the way with modern full backs.

Most players fall in that category including Sara who suffered a dip in form.

I just presumed Barnes is primarily in our team based on experience and his availability as free transfer, not necessarily that we want that type of player.  But perhaps i'm wrong and it is entirely by design.

I suspect there are various moving parts currently. Not to mention our longer-term plan and whether that involves a new manager etc. Watch this space I suppose, but you would expect Knapper to have a mindset on longer term recruitment regardless of manager.

What I can't wrap my head around is that SVH seems physically wrong to be that mobile player who can work the press as Idah and Sarge can, so i'm really intrigued as to how the coaching team will bring him to that level.

I suspect SVH has been earmarked as a replacement to Barnes next season. If Sarge leaves and we are not promoted then we would need to replace him with a similar mobile striker, who clearly isnt SVH.

One of our best players today and this season.

Snowflake fans who give it the big one but can't take it back can go cry in the corner.

Not sure I'd agree with this. Kenny having overall a good season but was poor today. Most his balls went astray, but then did a lot of other players being sloppy in possession. When the tempo is changed we look a better outfit. Slow build up play and we look like a clumsy team.

  13. I saw the extended highlights from the celtic game yesterday. A good header for the goal and a simple finish for the second. Im glad his loan is going well. However you could see that he still struggles positionally and doesnt bust a gut to get on the end of good crosses. Its beneficial for all parties that he does well on his loan obviously, but just my take is that we sell if we can get a decent price for him.

Now of course before we start would like to say that just like everyone else I think Rowe is a fantastic player. One that will have a very bright and big future, of that there is no doubt. Hell, I even told you so almost two years ago😉

    https://forum.pinkun.com/index.php?/topic/147266-rowe-rowe-rowe-your-boat/#comments

However think it's fair to say that when we got the news that Rowe is set to miss a few months we all panicked a little. But now we have played a couple matches without him.. Well, let's look at our last two matches. Eight goals scored without him!

So all in all, while losing Rowe is a bummer..

    Have we missed him?

Not so far, but pending any potential injuries we could be back in trouble. Luck needs to be on our side so we can continue trying to secure a playoff spot.
