  1. I agree. IF we can beat WBA, it should be enough, because we''d surely go above several other teams (e.g. Villa have Chelsea, so possibly a defeat, meaning they''d still have to ensure they don''t lose to Wigan) and that puts distance between us and relegation place. They won''t all win on the last day, as too many are playing each otherJust one decent win (we haven''t one by more than a single goal all season) one early goal against WBA to settle the nerves. That''s all we want

  2. I think Lambert will want a decent result against Villa. He always got his players playing right till the end (our decent win against Villa last game last season) so i think it''s not cut and dried. If Wigan don''t beat Swansea, I can''t see them getting a result against Arsenal, so Villa will be tight (& you have to give credit to Villa''s attacking prowess, that could run Wigan ragged!)Newcastle are by no means safe either. They''ve got two awkward games stillOne can always hope!

  3. Watching the game back on MOTD, thought we played much better (& Holt looked much sharper and threatening) but two things stand out again:1) Poor refereeing. How did Bennett stay on the pitch for Villa. Plenty of fouls after his yellow card, but if the ref gives a penalty, he''s awarding it for a deliberate foul and the player has to get yellow or red carded. Yellow and he''d have gone! So thanks again for yet another poor decision. Final 15 mins against 10 men might have changed things significantly2) No tackling. Agbonlohors goal was almost a repeat of the Reading one. He picks the ball up in hbis own half runs and runs and our entire team back away until he shoots and scores. Not one person trying to block him, let alone tackle him. Even schoolboy coaching says get players in front of the opposing, simply to blunt the attacking play, slow them down. Every players just backed away. Also though Bunn could and should have done better with both goals. But there you go

  4. I''d be thrilled if we do stay up, but if we get relegated, I''d have to say it''s Hughtons fault, and tactics etc, but I''d fancy trying to get Martin O'' Neill back, or someone up and coming playing attractive football, like Gus Poyet. Two games to go, and if we do stay up, I think we need to give Hughton the chance to strengthen (as with RVP) and see what happens, but what other managers could take us forward?

  5. The only things going in our favour is Lambert does keep his teams

playing all season. I don''t think Villa will be a pushover against

Wigan. Arsenal are still battling it out for a Champiosn league spot so I

can''t see Wigan getting anything there, so the crucial one is Swansea.

They''re not giving up despite being mid table (a creditbale draw against

    Man City)

SO it''s really can we muster anything against WBA. They''ve shown today

they can be beaten. But can we get that result. Newcastle don''t have any

easy games either, but it''s really how Sunderland and Newcastle respond

    to disastrous results?

Man City might have stopped playing (only a draw against Swansea, or a

decent result for Swansea) but I have that terrible feeling the Man C

game will be exactly like Fulham a few years ago. Us needing a result,

and when the first goal went in, heads dropped and we caved in! Please not a repeat of that?

  6. gingerpeleApols on the price (it was speculated, but forgot about Morrison-how quickly we forget the past)I''m just suprised he hasn''t been given a chance, as he is a goal poacher, and given half a chance, I''m sure he''d have added to our rather shy goal tally. Here''s hoping we can nick another point or two in the four remaining games to be absolutely safe. Am sure the confidence will be much higher after today. They seemed to be playing with much ,more confidence after the second goal, and things only got tighter once the goal came out of the blue.

  7. Great result today!!!But does anyone know why Becchio wasn''t even on the bench today. I''ve read all the threads about Kamara and Holt, and whilst majority agree Holt might be approaching his last days with us, and jury still out on Kamara, despite all his commitment and enthusiasm, strikers are judged on their goals. And both Holt & Kamara have been playing, neither coming up trumps, and Kamara now one goal in nine, or is it ten games (I wonder if his goal against Everton came too early?) my real question is why we paid £3.5m for Becchio, who had scored 19 goals for a poor Leeds, was high on confidence, but just hasn''t had any playing time with us whatsoever (especially when goals have been so hard to come by)What are people''s thoughts on this?

  8. Here''s hoping Hughton really winds the lads up to put a storming and

strong performance in against Reading, and if we get the 3 points we''ll

all feel much better. The thought crossed my mind, what with TV

camera''s now replaying incidents instantly at every game, from multiple

angles, and now goal line technology finally being introduced, maybe we

should start a debate whether a tv camera should be installed to follow

linesmen up and down the touchline, giving everyone a replica view of

exactly what the linesman sees, at the height they see it across the

pitch and at the point they wave their flags. That would ensure

they are a little more sure in their decision-making (and for yesterday

we''d have known whether that linesman could have possibly had a view of

the penalty across the picth and through all those players-they are

supposed to be sure about their decisions but there is ABSOLUTELY no way

he could have seen that incident cleary to ake it!) Maybe a tv

camera could eventually rep;lace these prunes who can''t make a correct

decision to save their lives, and who let the pressure games get to

    them!!What do people think?

  9. Watching MOTD, I was staggered by the linesmans performance. How could he:-miss the goalkick directly in front of him, but a gave a corner which led to the penalty-then spot an incredibly tame penalty right across a crowded penalty area (replays show there were people in front of Giroud/Kamara)-then miss the clear offside just prior to the 3rd goal(plus how could the ref defer to the linesmans decision. There was no way the linesman could be clear about what he thought he saw!)He looked pretty pleased with his performance at the final whistle. One does wonder if match fixing still exists? Is there any post match process whereby the officials perfomances are reviewed, so that he might be dropped in future games for some appallingly bad decisions

  10. If you don''t score you''ll never have a chance of winning. That''s been Norwichs problem all season, and very worrying at this late stage of the season. Where will the goals come from to give us a chance to win any of the crucial remaining games?Becchio cost us £3.5m and had scored 19 goals this season at the point he signed. SO full of confidence. So what have we done? Not played him or given him any real chance. Playing the same 4-5-1 formations has made us tougher to break down, but is killing us on the scoring front. If Pilkington is out, could we not try Kei on the left wing, and Holt & Becchio up front (with combination of 2 out of 3 from Johnson, Hoolahan & Tettey in the middle, and Snoddy on the right). What do people think?

  11. The thing is, this is the first time since we bought Holt from Shrewsbury that he hasn''t scored. He cam to us (albeit we were in League One then) but he came confident, and had been quite prolific. And because of his confidence he carried on scoring for us, and then the following year in the Championship, and then in his first season in the Premiership. That''s what confidence does for you.Which is why, in my opinion, Becchio needs to be the man to lead the way for the next few games. He has scored 19 this season, whereas as Holty has, what, 4?? Yes the formation has changed, but Holt is still getting chances, but he''s not putting them away. Perhaps Becchio, with his confidence high, might just be the injection we need to get a few more crucial goals  . If we can get a win against Fulham, and then look for at least a draw against Everton, we are on 32 points, and not too far off the magical 38 points!

  12. Lots of debate about whether to drop Holt or not. The facts are in the one up front formation, he does hold the ball up well and all that, but he''s scored only 4 or 5 goals all season, and that hardly looks like changing for the remainder of the seaons. Comparisons to Lambert are expected, but we have to remember Holt scored 15 in his first season in Premiership, but in a completely differnt formation this year. Lamberts doing the same, but not quite so prolific, and one suspects won''t score so many next year (they never tend to in their second year in Prem)The worrying question then, is where will the goals come from to get us those vitla wins, goals? It would seem stupid to bring in a striker who is on such good form, but only play him from the bench-would this see his form and confidence dip, and there where will we be, as likliehood is Holt won''t score that many more if we stick with one up front. SO should Becchio replace him?Would personally like to see Becchio start a few with Hoolan, to see if that partnership bears fruit. That would give Holt a bit of a rest, plus might bring some hunger back to his game, and migth mean he''s stronger later part of games, when defenses are tiring. Could we play Holt/Bec up front together, but at the expense of who? Think we need the creation of Hoolahan, but could we afford to drop Johnson or Tettey?

  13. Holty does a good lone man job, holding up the ball etc, but even with the change in formation, we need someone to hit the back of the net. Would like to see Becchio & Hoolahan up front at Fulham, purely because Becc''s is in great form and full of confidance at the moment. We can always bring Holt on towards the end, when defenders are tiring, and perhaps his strength might then pay dividends more. But I''d start with Becchio, and hope that''s the start of a strikeforce that gets us the goals and wins we need to stay up.
