  1. Definitely think Farke can take us further. He's done an incredible job with the funds he's had, and brought on so many players. BUT my biggest gripe remains his man management of subs. Frake is obsessed with his starting 11, and we regularly don't see any changes until last 10 mins. But our players get kn&ckered, and yet again, the opposition made changes around 60 mins. Yes, Mane is a super player, but his entry inserted real threat and energy against our teams that had done superbly. It's poor man management to think that tiring legs can keep up with fresh, energetic legs. I get Farke doesn't want to upset the equilibrium, but equally we need to match the oppositions changes for tactics and energy. How many times have we seen our team clinging on, but the signs are the game is slipping away, and then the opposition makes subs, goes ahead, and we're chasing the game yet again. All too little too late. It's about your squad, not just having faith that the starting 11 will do the business. The squad and subs should help protect the initial 11 by bringing on energy to close out the game. Farke still doesn't seem to have learnt that. Absolutely stick with Farke. The grass isn;t greener, and he's a superb coach still learning in likley the hardest league on the planet. We need him next year wherever we finish!

    If we go down -

My biggest concern if we go down is losing Farke, and maybe Webber. That could spell seasons of mediocrity. If Farke stays, I'd expect we'd only sell a couple, and knowing we don't have to sell, we'll push hard for big fees (& perhaps would only need to sell say Godfrey, maybe Aarons and that could be it, unless others want to go). I'd expect us to be very strong next season. Whether we can push straight for automatic promotion no-one can say. If we can keep Teemu we have a real goalscoring threat, but as this season has shown, when he's injured (& I don't think he's fully recovered from his toe injury) shows we have no suitable backup. I'm not quite sure Idah can be counted on for a full season, and not convinced Drmic will survive the physicality of the Championship

    One team makes tactical subs

Spurs and now liverpool have ahown subs change games into winning situations. Doesnt always work but we never give ours a proper run at the game

    One team makes tactical subs

Farke relies too heavily on his starting 11. Great performance but in 2xseasons he hasnt learnt how to use subs to help a game or change it

Add to that Duda's miss. Least we didn't spend mega millions on the waste of space Joelitin

    Match thread - Newcastle

Think its a bit harsh on Byram. I'm actually thinking its a shame Srebny was sold. I think he's a far better option than Drmic or Idah at this level. He';s had few chances, but scored his goal against Everton very well. We play 3 attacking midfielders behind Pukki. Apart from Cantwell, none of them all season have taken any pressure off Pukki to get the goals, so the blame should be put here.

And with a misfiring Pukki, still Farke plays him for a full 90mins every game. He needs a rest.

We're bottom because we've got one of the worst records against teams around us at the bottom!

Too much reliance on Pukki, but when he'snot firing we need to give others a chance. Farke puts too much faith in his starting 11 every game, but omg make some f*cking substitutions to try and change a game!

And we can't score once against a bang average team

Not knocking Pukki, but you can't stick with him forever. Sometimes lets get a 2nd striker on. Aint gonna happen now

Please don't let us miss a win because of Farkes ineptitude in making subs. Would like to see Drmic and Onel on
  13. Many on here agree the summer transfer window has been poor, two of those loans now having bee cancelled. We are bottom of the league, and players recruited loaned back to clubs for remainder of the season. To say we don't have money available for a Premier League campaign is royally ridiculous. Our model remains to try and bag bargain basement players, which clearly isn't good enough for the PL. With Amadou off, we have to hope Tettey can stay fit as we have no cover (unless you count the natural replacement Godfrey there but Farke is blind to that option) So had we waved the white flag before the season started, and more so, with recruitment targeted for next season, have we waved the white flag for our remaining PL campaign?

Have we waved the white flag

I applaud the plan. It's frugal and brave, and is now basing a self funding model on buy young, develop and reap the reward, look to buy sensible re[placements, start the process again. But as a fan it's highly frustrating as this hopes we will stay up with what we have, rather than investing sensibly in "strengthening the team" We didn't need wholeesale changes, just improvements in certain areas. We needed to improve the defence and whilst Byram has been the only success in the summer transfers, he wasn't bought to strengthen it, but to improve the cover. We desperately needed to improve the CDM role, and Amadou hasn't cut the mustard all season ( perhaps a bit unlucky to be sucked into the defensive crisis) but hasn't looked anywhere near a £10m player, and now he's gone, we're light yet again. But he didn't just decide yesterday he was unhappy, management would have been well aware and should have been [planning on his departure with a suitable replacement. We have no idea if Rupp has been bought for that role or just another "versatile" player. Amaedou was bought for that reason but looked like a rabbit in a headlight in defence, and little better in the very few CDM chances he got. I think we could and should have planned better. So I don't feel we've given ourselves anywhere near the best change we could to stay up, and we are investing more in hope that no-one crucial gets injured (e.g. tettey and for that matter Klose who could break down soon after getting back to fitness-it happens!) It was always going to be tough, I don't think our Board has fully supported Farke (yes he knew the situation) but could now be argued they still haven't learnt their lesson (over spent on journeymen like Naysmith last time, and hardly opened the purse strings this time) If we go down (it hasn't happened yet and a great result today puts us right back in it) then we have bought some exciting prospects for next year, expecting the departures if we're relegated. Under Farke I'd still expect to have a strong squad in the Champiosnhip, but that doesn't take away it's horrendous being a yo-yo club. Being a top 26 team doesn't cut the mustard for fans. We want to be more ambitious and become an established Premiership team

Have we waved the white flag

Most of the subs will have packed up and gone home the rest will ask to keep their tracksuits on knowing they won't break a sweat with the game time they'll get!
  16. Samwam27

    Tonight is surely the night...

Because our defence wasn't good enough in the championship and is nowhere near good enough for premiership. But we're back to prudence with ambition!
  17. Dont we do this every game?
  18. Same old. Miss chances and get punished for mistakes. Embarrassing it happens every game. Nothing a few million quid couldn't have improved!
  19. Samwam27

    Jamal Lewis

And yet Byram is so much better defensively than Lewis, and we look more solid with Byram in our defence. It's a very thin line and choice as both have different attributes
  20. Samwam27

    Press Conference

And if anyone gets injured, as first half has shown (embarrassingly) it a) shows we're in big trouble & b) we don't have strength in squad to replace them & c) shows that not strengthening is a very naive view to take. It maybe that Farke's hands are tied re: limited funds Can't believe farke has even added Amadou into equation as defensive cover-He's been poor more times than good in that position
  21. Samwam27

    Press Conference

My concern about this, and looking beyond to next season "if" we get relegated were this defence wasn't good enough at Championship level last season, and a record haul for champions. No improvements means we'll struggle for rest of this season, and we'd expect some sort of overhaul next season regardless of where we end up
  22. Whilst tettey is doing brilliantly he clearly tires and Amadou still isnt getting a look in. I always thought godfrey would be his natural replacement. With our defense looking more solid with zimm and hanley, any thoughts about trying godfrey in cdm role when fit. I doubt farke would ever go back to this but might be the balance we need

    Team for Bournemouth

With Farke normally taking half a season to blood in his new recruits, we shouldn't expect to see Duda or Rupp very soon lol I think it's long overdue we see Amadaou in the middle and stake his claim as the purported £12m cdm we got him for. Would like to see Duda thrown straight in at No.10 with Cantwell and Beundia flanking him and supporting Pukki. Trouble is Farke rarely changes his starting 11, so expect Tettey will be in the middle with Vrancic, and probably McClean starting at No.10 We do seem to be the only team to get players and never throw them straight in!
  24. Samwam27

    Lukas Rupp

Says he can play anywhere across midfield, or can play full back! Let's hope he doesn't Rupp-ture anything early on lol
  25. Samwam27

    Lukas Rupp

Not sure how at only 5.11. Strange one this. Doesn't really address any of the areas we desperately need strengthening. Is he an attacking or defensive midfielder?
