  1. Bob Bob, I completely agree with you.

Jarrett has looked awful, and you can clearly judge a player by his first 3 games. In fact, I wish Worthy would have gotten rid of that Ashton character after he scored that terrible own goal on his debut. Not to mention Robert Green who didn''t seem able to catch a ball when I first saw him play!

Sheesh, what is it with our "fans" and constant moaning? I have to say I''m finding it quite tedious. I actually thought Jarrett looked good and very lively against Inter Milan in pre-season, but it is so difficult to comprehend that players take time to fit in? Yes, we have to start getting the results soon, but we''ve not looked awful, we''re generating chances, and the goals will come.

@Mr Rosario -- Spot on there, sir!

  2. Listening to Radio Norfolk yesterday was very depressing -- yet again we came "so close" to equalising against Southampton, but we couldn''t quite find that finishing touch.

I know it sounds silly, but a fundamental part of getting the right results is believing that you can get them. I think the major area we are lacking right now is mentally -- a lot of people though we would walk the Chumps league, but it just isn''t happening for us at the moment. We haven''t won a game yet, and it''s clear that the fans are getting agitated. I''m of the personal opinion that once that first win comes in, a landslide will follow. I just hope it comes along soon!

Does anyone think that the team have forgotten how to win?!

    Discuss.

  3. Perhaps you''d say sack Jose Mourinho -- he clearly doesn''t know how to manage, as Chelsea were very lucky to win today!? Come on guys, 3 games into the season and we''re looking like a good side, even though we have 6 new players. If we haven''t got a win within the next couple of games then perhaps it''s time to look at what is going wrong, but the fact remains that the last two performances have been good, and we''ve been unlucky not to win at least one of them. Some times things don''t go right for your team, and it''s up to the supporters to get behind them, especially when we obviously have the quality neccessary to win promotion. In fact, I think negative supporters could clearly damage our chances of promotion.

  4. I''ll be honest and say i thought Charlie was superb in midfield -- I remember one interception where he read the ball superbly well and stopped a pass at point blank range. The guy would be an excellent player to bring on if, say, we were 3-1 up away from home () to sure up the midfield, without a doubt.I think the way the full backs were overlapping against Inter looked quite classy, and Drury seemed less inhibited knowing that Charlton would drop back and cover him. I would say we were the better team for periods of the second half, although I''m sure Inter could have stepped it up if neccessary. The one thing we are still lacking is a decent ball into the box! Whilst LJ and Colin were quick, the balls just weren''t good enough -- although this is against Inter''s defence of course! With Marney in midfield, and Jarrett (who looked excellent too) I think we have a stronger team than last season without a shadow of a doubt. In fact, I might get slated, but I thought Doherty was ok in the centre of defence too! He''s not a quick/skillful player, but he is strong and reads the game very well. Even his clearences seemed less hurried than last season. Finally (long post I know), but did anyone see that Green''s increased "communication" (read shouting) had a very positive effect on removing the panic from our defending?! Bring on Coventry!Ian

  5. Yes, but why did he turn it down? Would you be happy to be on a lot less wages than somebody you''re keeping out of the team?

Frankly, it''s a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face from the NCFC point of view. I mean, we''ve not exactly got plenty of right backs now have we?!

  6. I have to agree about Edworthy - I think he remained pretty loyal to the club throughout. I heard that he was questioning why Helveg was on much more money, whilst he was keeping him out of the first team, and if this is the case, then I think that is more than understandable.

In fact, whilst he wasn''t phenomenal in the Prem, I don''t really recall a game where he was awful.

    A shame.

  7. Honestly Wiz, don''t panic!

Firstly, we have a lot of quality in the squad as it is. We definitely need to bolster right-back, and perhaps a creative central midfielder would be good, but we have a better squad than we did in our promotion season.

However, I''m sure Worthy is planning to bring a few more players in - strength in depth, and all that. Besides which, we''re not even half way through July yet - a lot can happen in 6 weeks!

  8. I usually lurk more than post on this board, but this thread has just made me chuckle too much to resist the opportunity!

"1st Wizard", have you not started several threads criticising the manager/other players? Yet when somebody else vents their, in my eyes, pretty valid opinions about Francis you accuse them of not being "true fans"?!

Either that''s one of the most hypocritical things I''ve read in a long time or I just don''t seem to have the capacity to understand your reasoning!

With regards to the comments made about Francis, I agree, he was awesome for us at the start of the season, but it seems that (apparently) when other Prem clubs started sniffing about in January his level of performance certainly dropped. However, it could just be that he could never quite get back into the swing of things after he fractured his cheekbone. I think we should wait and see what happens before the season starts before we should start proclaiming him to be an incarnation of the devil His behaviour after the Fulham game was pretty disgraceful though -- compare say, Deano''s reactions to Damo''s!

  9. <<>>And how many fine saves did he make? You must be having a laugh...Greeno has been really loyal to this club; yes, we trained him and helped him become the keeper he is today, but he owes us nothing - clubs don''t train footballers out of the goodness of their hearts. He''s done a fantastic job for us, but if he feels it''s time for him to move on, then that is his choice, but it doesn''t suddenly make him a Judas. Personally, I would hope he would stick it out until Christmas, but I find it difficult to swallow the abuse some "supporters" are giving him for stating that he''d rather be playing in the Prem than the Championship,I wish him the best of luck whatever he decides to do - but I would hope to see him in Yellow''n''Green in the Premiership 2006/2007 season!

  10. Yeah.

A "real football lesson" on how to miss 9 chances.

Let''s see, this season hasn''t the score-lines been:

    Birmingham 1 - 1 Canaries
    Canaries 1 - 0 Birmingham

That makes it 4-1 to us I think ;-)

Methinks it''s a case of sour grapes! Sure, they had the lion''s share of the possession but we could have had another pen, their keeper made a great stop from Leon, and Deano could have done better after his flick.

And this was on a poor day for us...

  11. First post, so better get in there and post something controversial! ;-) Just my 2p on the booing players, specifically about Holt:

It''s hardly surprising that Holt hasn''t been at his best considering he nearly died a few months ago. He HAS been poor, but he has given his all for this football club and he certainly doesn''t deserve the beating he''s gettings for a few "supporters".

People seem very fickle, as he was excellent for us a couple of seasons ago - one of our key players. Booing him onto the pitch is a complete disgrace in my eyes. If it was Ashton/McKenzie/whoever the "popular" player is at the moment recovering from a life-threatening injury and not reaching their top form, would people still be booing them? Methinks not.

The guy has been a loyal player, and a great player, for us over the past few seasons. However, one poor season and suddenly he is singularly at fault for some of Norwich''s poor performances, and being booed onto the pitch.

I think it''s pathetic, and whoever is responsible should be ashamed of themselves.

And re: Tim Sherwood... well, who cares? Pundits will be pundits - slagging off the "smaller" teams seems to make some feel more successful/important/[INSERT WORD HERE]. However, it usually ends up making them look more stupid. :-D

    Cheers,
