Oh boy... just need the league to schedule Sunderland v Ipswich as the opening game of the season now.
And Charlton v Luton on the same day would be good 😀
-
Good game so far and a great illustration of the consistency / concentration lapse post above from CS.
An interesting comment, the majority of the Charlton players, and their manager, are out of contract this summer. That will make for an interesting off-season, whatever the result of this game.

Well of course, I mean you can’t turn down the chance to play for a legend like Paul Lambert and a EUAFA and FA Cup and League Title winning club could you? I’m sure Tranmere will sink back down into oblivion while L1pswich rise like a Pheonix to new and greater glory.

They can sneer all they like obout our League Cup and Euro campaigns, but their Euro win was against Alkmaar for goodness sake, at least we beat Bayern Munich. And even Sunderland is a bigger club than Alkmaar.... (we also lost several Euro seasons to the Liverpool induced ban on English clubs)
-
Newport v Tranmere, decent game so far. Tranmere especially playing some slick football.
-
Come the game, just to remind ourselves it will be a final between two teams that finished 18 and 20 points respectively behind the actual Champions. Why do they get a trophy again?

Interesting stats about McClean. To my eye he seemed to be the weakest midfielder in defending against a run. He was brushed off a number of times by attackers as I recall. Still Farke knows best.

News outlets = rumor chain, each report “validates” the next ....
it was WJ who commented on Barcelona - Wynn Jones joked when asked if Norwich can hold onto Webber: "I think he's got his eyes on Barcelona!"
-
Talking of tinpot, this is really funny
-
I think Webber has hinted Barcelona would be his dream club.

Can we just go back to the old rule? You can only travel 3 (?) steps after catching / picking up the ball, but no other restrictions? Just combine that with the fourth official can stop the game clock / watch if he thinks you are time wasting.
-
If he was offered the same role at Man Utd as he has here, then of course he’d go, but that doesn’t sound like what the newspaper / journo suggests they are offering - instead to be chair of an ex-player dominated recruiting committee.

I didn’t know that “Anglia” meant “Suffolk” ??
Then again King (and later Saint) Edmund was murdered by those nasty northerner Vikings in Bury, so we can see where their current identification as oppressed losers comes from.
-
To be fair they do have a bigger ground. They can't fill it (unless we come play them) but they do have a bigger ground.
-
Sending him out to prove himself fit and if we happen to come down next year an ideal player for a Championship campaign. If we stay up then suspect it’s decision time about moving on, but if he’s under contract he has some value.

Yeah fair points.

I’m surprised by that analysis, that’s approx 60 ft average per pass. Now I know its an average but with the amount of running we do with the ball and tight interchange passes of 3 - 6 ft I’d have though the average might be closer to 20ft.

Ignoring position and Carrow Road, Reece James really impressed me.
FInally, Jarrod Bowen and Harry Wilson probably had better seasons although neither really performed against us.
Thanks. Yes I really liked the look of Che Adams and Reece James too. We could do a lot worse than adding them to our current squad.

eh? You just said what I said - Wednesday pay off his contract, or he agrees a sum with them for his registration to be released so that he becomes a free agent. Why would he do that? Because he wants to play where he wants to play not where Wednesday send him, and/or he makes equal or more more money that way. Why would Wednesday do that? Well, that’s why I said it’s Wednesday’s move .... they clearly don’t want him, so what are they going to do?

27 minutes ago, KeiranShikari said:Had Rhodes been given the minutes that Teemu Pukki got this year he would have scored a lot of goals. He fits our system and mentality.
His game isn't about physicality or speed ....
But Teemu's game IS based on speed - or at least acceleration to create himself space. He was a good alternative to throw on later in a game but not an ideal backup to Pukki in my opinion.
-
Well Rhodes is now back at Wednesday - so Wednesday it's now your move; are you going to release him from his contract, or try and find a different buyer?
-
I suspect Hanley will now leave and we'll look to bring in another comfortable on the ball and pacy CB. Unless we think we can "do a Zimmermann" with either Franke and/or Raggett.
-
One other factor from last season - Klose was soon to be out of contract, so no re-sale value. Godfrey, like Aarons, was having a great debut season and if we didn't go up would have been an asset we could cash in on to fill a funding hole for 2019 - 2020.
That was then, this season we know we have Klose, Godfrey, Zimmermann who are all comfortable on the ball, so I agree use any two of those three - or maybe all three in a 2 CB plus sweeper system.

Who did you think was a better player HC?
Villa or Derby?

Derby for me. And then they can buy Grealish and Maddison can show him up as a show pony again.
