  1. If you are looking for truth and accuracy you wouldn''t go to the Daily mail for it - it is just an appallingly bad paper written solely for bigots.

It is not a question of politics - The Times and Telegraph, for example, although right wing are no more inaccurate than the press as a whole. The Mail has few pretensions of being treated as a real newspaper and survives purely on a diet of prejudice that it feeds to its regulars and DVD offers that they use to bump up their circulation.

  2. Whilst I don''t disagree with the main thrust of the argument that Lambert has assembled a good squad quite cheaply, it is misleading to look simply at transfer fees.

In most cases, the transfer fee is a smaller part of the deal that brings a player to a club. If a "cheap" player signed for £100,000 but was on a three year package of say £4,000 a week, the £100, 000 rises to to £700,000 and this is before any bonuses, agents or signing on fees. Wages not transfer fees are really the key part of the deal.

  3. I looked him up. His last game was for Wales against England! He was injured and never recovered.

"A Welsh international (8 caps), David''s career came to a premature end in May 1978 whilst representing Wales against England."

Hucka - I was only a kid at the time but I remember him as a good player.

  4. Two points:

    1. He has come on and done what was asked of him on more than one occasion in a short career. He has given us extra physical presence when needed and given us an extra option when trying to move the ball forward quickly.

    2. He is likely to get better as he becomes more acquainted with the players and gets used to the extra pace in the championship. He has played most of the season at League One level and it is reasonable to expect him to need a bit of time to fully adjust.

I suspect that like Nelson - "he does what it says on the tin!"

  5. Purple - I accept that I am probably reading too much into this and my judgement is being clouded by optimism. I am not sure, however, why existing share holders would wish to give up the chance to expand their own allocation. What is the danger to them?

  6. Purple - the interesting thing is why the (possible) new investors are keen to prevent other existing shareholders from expanding their allocation of shares. I am probably reading far too much into this, but the inference that I am making is pretty obvious.
