  1. As I've said before,  it's no longer a Sport, it's a business. Abramovic bought Chelsea and he's a Spurs fan apparently, West Ham are bankrolled by some Czech bloke who owns Sparta Prague, the list goes on.

So when we stretch our budget to buy Sargent for 8 mill or so and he's up against 40/50 players of course were going to struggle.

I've been saying for years that a European Super League is the future,  just because they backed down last time, you can bet they're still talking to each other..... it's all about the money after all.

..... once they've ****ed off (and good riddance) we can have our ball back.

It is him that has been the making of Ipswich

....... I think you're giving him too much credit, he didn't inspire a push towards the playoffs last term and, although they might be going well right now, it's more to do with them out spending their rivals over the summer, in an attempt to simply buy their way up....    that, and a kind start.

Much as Maddison is a fantastic player I just don't see anyone paying that for him. Fair play for Newcastle for trying mind.

.... he's a snip at 40 mill, at today's prices 60 would be the going rate.

I guess it’s absolutely vital for their economy that this race continues. It’s basically their main attraction.

I went twice back in the eighties, never watched a race, spent two weeks in the pub, came home with alcohol poisoning......... great event.

Another fallout from our inability to expand the ground. It’s very, very difficult to take your kids unless you can borrow a ST for them as even if you can get tickets then more often than not you can’t get two anywhere near each other. We will look back on the failure to expand the ground whilst we had premier league finances as one of the biggest errors in years to come.

..... don't start the the Ground expansion debate again, I actually agree with you but others wanted the money spent on securing our place in the Premiership...... that worked well didn't it?

So now we've spent the money, are back in the Championship and have no capacity to invite the new generation of Norwich fans..... I think that's called a hat-trick 🙁

Hello, I'm still here and haven't gone anywhere.

It is hugely ironic people coming on here making out they are opposed to the whole notion of Ipswich yet they turn a blind eye to the fact that Delia is the biggest fan of Ipswich as she supported them in the 78 cup final and was seen wearing their shirt.

..... no one is 'opposed to the whole notion of Ipswich' ...... after all, where would any of us be without some comedy in our lives?....

Anyway, I understand not all NCFC fans are necessarily from Norwich, so may have a second team to follow. Personally, I don't.

This, it's Norwich or nothing for me, the Premiership is just a money League now and those that control it are not interested in small Clubs. The Linekars and Shearers are all on board, waxing lyrical about how good Liverpool or City are when they've spent a fortune on imported talent...... it's just business now, not sport, there's no loyalty, from players, Managers, even supporters hop from one Club to another if they're having a bad Season.

Call me old fashioned, (I am) but I don't support Norwich because they're the biggest or the best but because I was born there, they're my Club, through thick and thin and nothing is ever going to change that.

I agree that success in the Prem, and increasingly the Championship too, is usually proportional to the financial clout available to each club.  But it’s clutching at straws a bit to suggest that if only other clubs set their level of ambition as low as us we might not be bottom.

Our level of ambition is no different to any other Club, how we go about achieving it is........

  9. Maybe I'm in the minority, but there's no humiliation here. My Brother (a Hammer) pointed out that our recent performances in the Premiership must be pretty disheartening for the fans. My immediate response was that we'd been Football League Champions for 2 of the last 3 Seasons, what's disheartening about that?

In terms of financing, and let's face it, Football is no longer a Sport but a business,  we are one of most responsibly run Clubs in the Country and if the likes of Brighton, Watford, Burnley and even West Ham attemted to operate our business model we'd be higher up the table.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, maybe we should change our business model  but I'd hate us to lose our identity, we remain a Norfolk Club followed mainly by Norfolk people and exiles and I'd much rather that, than follow Sparta Prague B, like my Brother does now......
