Would sign him and send him back out on loan next season as he’s only 19

I fully understand their reasons as I’m very keen on green energy myself and would love to see an end to the use of fossil fuels on our roads, but you just have to accept that we can’t stop the use of oil yet simply because we’re still not ready to (unless they really can afford to buy every petrol/diesel car owner in the UK an electric car and fund the production of all new wind/solar farms we need)
-
Luton through. Fankaty Dabo has sent his penalty over but when a player has to score in a penalty shootout they’re under huge pressure, and so it’s no surprise he missed
-
Shoot out
-
Not fussed over who goes up, but I have to say it would be amazing to see Luton go up considering they were a non league team ten years ago
-
We must avoid making too many new signings, as it will take time for the new team to gel, but here are my views on the squad:
Gunn - Keep. I think the reason he was signed was also so we would already have someone ready for Krul’s departure, and he is now the
Krul - Sell. One year left and no longer first choice. If he does go though we will need to sign an experienced replacement because we don’t have anyone ready to be a Championship backup - Jed Steer’s out of contract at Villa this summer
Aarons - Sell. One year left and I can’t see him signing a new contract, so best he goes whilst we can still get some money for him
Mumba - Keep. The reason he was sent out on loan was to get some experience because we knew Aarons would have to go this summer
McCallum - Still doesn’t seem quite ready for the Championship yet but he’s still young and could come good. However, he only has one year left so we need to offer him a new contract and if he doesn’t sign one then I think we will have to sell him
Giannoulis - Sell. Only one year left and very injury prone
Hanley - Keep. Need him for experience, and with him out for the rest of the year no one would be interested in signing him anyway
Gibson - Only one year left but with Hanley out until Xmas I think we need to keep him for experience
Omobamidele - If someone really does offer £15m+ for him then I would sell him, but otherwise I would keep him
Tomkinson - Loan. Needs game time and he’s not going to get much here and unfortunately didn’t get much at Stevenage either. Although with Hanley out until Xmas and Gibson out of contract next summer we will have to sign someone on loan with an option to buy. Send Hills and Warner out on loan too
Sorenson - Keep. One year left with option of extension. Can also cover at FB as well
Gibbs - Keep. Considering he was still yet to make a first team appearance last summer I think he’s done amazing, and is looking very promising
McLean - Keep. Runner up POTS, and we need his experience
Sara - Keep. Sara is vital for next season so anyone who thinks he should go now is crazy and I think he arrived with a sell on clause, although if someone did happen to come in with an offer of £40m+ I guess we may have no option but to accept it
Nunez - Keep. Didn’t show much this season but he’s still young and has plenty of time to improve
Placheta - Sell. One year left and always injured, so get rid
Rowe - Loan. Only turned 20 last month, and although he has impressed in the few first team appearances he has made he needs regular game time
Springett - Loan. Just like Rowe and Mumba he has impressed in the few first team appearances he has made, but needs regular game time
Hernandez - Keep. Need his experience and just like McLean I think the reason he was offered a new contract was so we would have some experience in the squad for next season
Tzolis - Keep. Only 21 and three years left, so can still come good
Rashica - Sell. Doesn’t want to be here so get rid of him this summer
Kamara - Loan. Another young player just coming through the youth academy, so just like Tomkinson, Rowe and Springett needs regular game time which he’s not going to get here
Sargent - Keep. Strikers are the most expensive and we’re not going to have much money to spend which was the whole reason why we signed Barnes
Idah - Lacks experience so really needs a loan. To send him out on loan though we would need to sign someone in on loan otherwise we would have to keep
-
Leeds look like they will definitely go down. They have the worst GD and face Spurs who still have the possibility of a Europa Conference League spot to play for. I think Leicester will join them as although West Ham will probably put out a weakened side because they have nothing to play for and so are probably concentrating solely on Europe, Leicester have to win and rely on Everton to drop points against Bournemouth, who also have nothing to play for

I think Holt actually cost us £750k, but like you've said although that looks an absolute bargain as now a striker of his quality would probably cost about £20m, considering we were a 3rd tier club on the brink of administration back then it was almost all our funds

Although I do like Giannoulis, I agree that he hasn't performed like he did in his loan spell two years ago and is also rather injury prone. As a result of this I'm happy for him to go this summer as he only has one year left. Ryan Manning could be an excellent replacement as he is experienced and is a free agent because he rejected a new contract, rather than not being offered one
-
Don't have a clue. Who else are we signing this summer? Who's going? Who else has got relegated from the PL and who won the League One playoffs? In my opinion this poll is 2 months early, and I wouldn't make any predictions on how we'll do next season until late July, when we have a better idea of who will be in our squad and how they do in pre season
-
If the rumours about Giannoulis are true I think it’s highly likely he would go to Greece than Russia. I mean if you were a foreigner and you had an option to move to another country where would you prefer to go - back to your home country, or another foreign country currently at war?

Coventry through
-
7 Players on the pitch on yellows. If it goes to extra time there’s a high chance someone will see red
-
Certainly wouldn’t say no to Manning or Norwood. Not very convinced with Ghoddos though, an attacking midfielder with just 3 goals and 2 assists in 40 Championship appearances. I’m very nervous about signing Tuanzebe though, as he has a very bad injury record
-
Barnes has just been confirmed. Two year deal
-
I think it might be worth giving Tom Davies a go. An out of contract 24 year old midfielder with 155 PL appearances to his name, so a free agent yet to reach his peak but with loads of experience. People moan we have no ambition when we sign free agents but it’s better signing a player of his experience level for nothing than spending about £7m on a player of similar experience as you can never expect a player to perform to their career statistics

Only the blind would not see it...and to ignore it would not be a fair appraisal. Just as Pukkis lack of aerial ability knocks a point or so off his mark out of 10...both great players, neither perfect.
Yes - what I didn’t like about Buendia was his attitude/temperament. I was at the 4-0 victory against QPR and a player tackled him, bringing him down in the process. A few minutes later Buendia got sent off for a two footed challenge on the player concerned. Saw red four times in his career with us

Am happy for Krul to go as it would generate some funds and I can’t see him playing much next season provided we sign an experienced keeper as backup for Gunn, as I don’t think any of our other keepers are ready to be number 2 yet
-
No. Way past it and would demand huge wages

Totally agree. You can't expect any manager to do well with a team unless they have a decent squad. Look at the difference between what Lambert did with us to what he did with our rivals
-
Think he would be a great signing considering he came third in the POTS votes last season in the PL but would he really want to come to a Championship club? We also probably wouldn’t have the option to buy as we didn’t last season, so if he came and helped us to promotion next season it may end up being a similar tale to Skipp

1 hour ago, PockthorpePete said:Should both Krul and Gunn be out injured, there is the emergency loan option. The club would have budgeted for Krul seeing out his contract. We still have the third year of parachute money so all this is accounted for. Last summer saw an awful lot of dead wood cut away as a number of 'possibles' were sent out on loan or released. We will have t see who of Mumba, Springett, Tompkinson is up to first team football. Others in the Championship have UK players, doing well. We need to learn to look closer to home.
We don’t have a third year of parachute payments. This is because clubs who come straight back down are only deemed to be worthy of two years of parachute payments. To get three years of parachute payments you have to spend back to back seasons in the PL - of the possible teams to get relegated this season Southampton, Leicester, Everton and Leeds would all get three years worth, Forest and Bournemouth would only get two years worth

The current GK pecking order is Gunn, Krul, McGovern. McGovern is out of contract this summer and I think he will retire as he is 38 and been looking at becoming a coach in recent years. With one year left, I would be happy for Krul to be sold provided we sign someone with decent experience to replace him. This is simply because I don’t think Barden is ready to be second choice as although he did well when he had to step in briefly a couple of years ago with Krul and McGovern both out injured, his cancer caused him to be out of action for a year so I don’t think he has enough experience

The Plymouth boss deserves it more. He’s got Plymouth going right from the start of the season. A while back I remember someone posting a link to a thread on the Ipswich forums on here with fans moaning about how they’d spent more money than anyone else and they weren’t doing great
Just stop oil at it again

Well then why are they obstructing road users? Is it really the road users that are giving new fossil fuel licenses? Surely it’s the government they should be targeting, not drivers
