1.
I just had to comment on what some people have said about the link between pornography and rape etc. This is just complete tosh. John Douglas, for many years head of the FBI Behavioural Science Dept. states that sex and violence in the media does not make serial killers and rapists.
Not sure where you get that from. In his book, "Journey Into Darkness", he writes "[Serial-rape murders are commonly found] with a large pornography collection, either store-bought or homemade. Our [FBI] research does show that certain types of... material can fuel the fantasies of those already leaning in that direction." Dr. W.L. Marshall, in "Criminal Neglect, Why Sex Offenders Go Free" (1990), says based on the evidence, pornography "feeds and legitimizes their deviant sexual tendencies." In the same book, John Court comments on studies in Sweden, Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia, stating: “. . . As the constraints on the availability of pornography were lifted . . . the rates of rape in those countries increased. For example, in two Australian states between 1964 and 1977, when South Australia liberalized its laws on pornography and Queensland maintained its conservative policy... over the thirteen-year period, the number of rapes in Queensland remained at the same low level while South Australia’s showed a “six-fold increase.” Here''s some comments from Shelley Lubben, a former porn actress: "That’s right none of us freshly-dyed blondes like doing porn. In fact, we hate it. We hate being touched by strangers who care nothing about us. We hate being degraded with their foul smells and sweaty bodies. Some women hate it so much you can hear them vomiting in the bathroom between scenes... But the porn industry wants YOU to think we porn actresses love sex. They want you to think we enjoy being degraded by all kinds of repulsive acts... It’s safe to say most women who turn to porn acting as a money-making enterprise, probably didn’t grow up in healthy childhoods either. Indeed, many actresses admit they’ve experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse and neglect by parents. Some were raped by relatives and molested by neighbors. When we were little girls we wanted to play with dollies and be mommies, not have big scary men get on top of us... As we continue to traumatize ourselves by making more adult films, we use more and more drugs and alcohol. We live in constant fear of catching AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases... The truth is there IS NO fantasy in porn. It’s all a lie. A closer look into the scenes of a porn star’s life will show you a movie porn doesn’t want you to see." Of course not all people who use pornography go on to commit crimes. But I would be surprised if there is one user who hasn''t been changed by it for the worse - in terms of their attitudes towards women and themselves.

I''d struggle to pay money for a single match ticket, let alone a season ticket, to such dubious characters.Fortunately, as others have pointed out, this is mere speculation at the moment.Sure, Delia & Michael have made some strange decisions at times, but at least they are genuine supporters of City, unlike Gold and Sullivan.
I''m staggered at this comment - what difference does it make where their money comes from. As long as it''s legal, which it is, above board and kosher I can''t see what difference it makes. After all, this is 2009 - isn''t it. Maybe you would prefer some dodgy Arab or Far East mob where you would never know how they make their money.
It matters because not everything that''s legal is desireable. And I care what my money and my club are linked to. But it sounds like you do too, because it sounds like you''d rather not have the club taken over by ''some dodgy Arab or Far East mob''...Anyway, they''re probably not likely to take over City, as they''ll want to make a profit out of the club. It''s a bit hard to see how a club like Norwich, with the catchment area it has, can ever make a significant profit. Though of course, they could figure on fattening it up for a later takeover by ''some dodgy Arab or Far East mob'' as you put it...
We get bigger crowds than Birmingham - so how does your argument about catchment areas work?
As it is they have a stadium capacity about 5000 higher than ours. But they''re based in a city of over a million and one that is more well known around the world than Norwich (clearly not as nice as Norwich, but better known). So if they can build consistent success, they can expect to substantially increase their support in a way that I doubt would happen for Norwich.
