  1. As said many times before Mike Walker inherited a team that had been well formed by Ken Brown and then Dave Stringer - Walker bought in new ideas, good motivation and some really nice football. From discussions with insiders in the club in his 2nd term he totally lost the respect of the players, discipline went out of the window and that was that - could be he had too many loose cannons in the squad 2nd time round. What followed was of course even worse.......

  2.

    Here is my prediction:

    YOUR PREDICTIONS

     Rel Pos Team PTS
     1 Portsmouth 44
     2 Fulham 42
     3 Crystal Pal 36
     4 Norwich 33
     5 Southampton 31
     6 West Brom 27

  3. Bolton A  1 point

    Arsenal A 0

    Man U H  1

    Palace A  1

    Newcastle H   3

    Charlton  H     3

    Southampton A 0

    Birmingham H   3

    Fulham A        1

If any of the draws can be turned to wins then 4th place will be ours. This is all subject to the defence becoming water tight - bring back stringer as a defensive consultant coach.

  4. I agree with those posters that demand continued stability in the management - Worthy should not be sacked at this juncture - after 10 straight games withiout a win next season then maybe? However I really think that Worthy should take a close look at his coaching team for next season and bring in some fresh ideas and characters - I think either Foley or Livermore are disposable - trouble is they are tied up to long term contracts with Worthy so it could be a problem - maybe a bit of a sidestep for one of them and a new coach in would be needed.

  5. For me the old Manor Ground in Oxford and Blundell Park Grimsby are the worst places I can remember, I also remember standing on a grass bank at Wigan many years back when we were knocked out of the FA cup by a single goal. Selhurst park wouldnt be so bad if it were not for the bad memories of loosing all the time - I''ve got my tickets now for that game - so hope the jinx will be broken this year.

  6. My two choices have already been mentioned - for overall tenacity and skill it has to go to Justin Fashanu''s screamer against L''pool and then for total satisfaction and wild celebrations Steve Bruces header at Carrow Road V the Scum in the Milk cup semi 2nd leg! unfortunately I was not in Munich on the night of Gossy''s wonder volley but seen it numerous times since.

  7. I reckon the following players will leave with or without relegation

Svensson - wants to play his final days back in Sweden

Helveg - wants to play his final days back in Denmark

McVeigh - not upto it - Terminate contract by mutual consent

Mulryne - Injury prone - Terminate contract by mutual consent

Greeno - if an offer for 3-4mil comes in

  8. Fully agree with these comments - it has certainly helped to make our situation much worse than for those clubs with big squads - I am strongly of the opinion that the 3 teams coming up each season should have free rights to loan players for the 1st season - as clearly it seems that all the 3 that came up and going down - if it is so predictable at the start of the season then it means the system is not fair and does not work.

  9. Clearly Greeno''s confidence has been knocked badly - no top level keeper likes conceeding 50plus goals - the back four were crap - simple as that -very unlucky to lose Eddie yesterday - Greeno was awful today but cannot blame him for all the other games. Sorry to say but we really looked like a dead and buried 1st division team in the 2nd half this afternoon - if worthington doesnt play shackell in the next game .........

  10. I clearly see no harm in trying Shackell in place of Doherty (Spurs had one of the worst defences last season). We were unlucky again to lose our right back today it made a big difference. I would also start with Safri in a sweeper role just to try to shore up the defence even more. Up front Ashton and Jonson. For all Mckenzies effort he just cannot cut it. Huckerby has lost his ability to score - his best role now is unlocking defences and setting up for Ashton and Jonson.

  12. I think Dave Stringer hit the nail on the head this week when he said that all good teams need to build from the back - confidence moves through the team when you are not conceding goals - worthy should have an afternoon with Dave to learn what its all about..... Wonder if Stringer would like the 1st team coach job or tactical consultant?

  13. Can anyone answer this question - too many mistakes from creeping in.....

Watching the game live on Canal+

We should be 4-2 up now - playing much better than Blackburn but usual story cannot score - Hucks and Brennan missed sitters. As we learnt last week you can play crap and win games - its all about scoring - Blackburn showing us this now. We need to put the chances away 2nd half - Blackburn defence as bad as ours........

  14. If we can shore up the defence and charlton makes a miracle return we might scrape a draw as Everton who are clearly missing their star man Gravesen. Failing this a 3or4-1 thumping is on the cards. Our record on Merseyside in general is miserable - I have been to 5 games on merseyside and we leaked 18 goals and scored 2. Best ever result up there was 4-1 in the glorious Walker days! Efan Ekoku....
