sort it out canaryfan7... gunn picked up a pile of shit that he was left with.. id like to see u polish a turd!

end of the day we are in this mess because of the board.... even munby said it... grant.. then roeder... staying up last season just covered the cracks.

if gunn is still here or not i think he should be involved at some level.. he is mr norwich city... id also love to see dion dublin back as some kinda coach etc..

sign alan lee.. get rid of clingan, croft, and some of the other big wage players, the money for cligan we can sign alan lee which is a must.. he loves the club, and lets start again, get some of our youth boys in that side now.. bye bye marshall... time for declan rudd... also cody will shine, it will be a tough league but we can do it

We have just appointed a manager with no experience and now we want to appoint Dublin as a coach, priceless!  When are people going to realise that managers earn their corn because they have experienced the heat in the kitchen and can handle it. I''d love people to get off this emotional bandwagon and start seeing the club in need of desperate leadership from the top down and not give jobs to the boys (that includes Gunn too).

Gunn had half a season and it was him that took us down as when he took over the team we weren''t in the bottom 3. I question whether the players wanted to play for Gunn or whether he had the experience to motivate the players or take the pressure off the players. Before anyone comes back and lambasts myself, we lost 5 out of the last 6 and we didn''t turn up to half of those games, that points the finger at Gunn/Butterworth/Crook/Deehan team 100%.

I''m annoyed and upset. Probably no more so than 25 or 30 thousand people that follow Norwich, but my annoyance is not just with the team but some of the media and fellow fans.

I''m annoyed because there are some people that think relegation to League 1 spells the end of
Norwich City. These people think that our demise to League Two and beyond is inevitable. And many have questioned why they bother following a team when the players don''t turn up.

I''ve got a message for these people

    1) Football goes in cycles. Wolves won the Championship this season and well done to them, but I can remember them as a Divison 4 side (in fact I saw a Div 4 match between
Preston and Wolves in 1988). Likewise Blackpool fans over a certain age can remember their team challenging regularly for major honours, and Forest''s European wins were not really that long ago. Likewise, Wigan only came into the league in 78, Hull nearly got relegated from the league back in the 90s and theyre both in the Prem. Norwich Fans 50 years ago would only have dared to dream about top flight - for the Cup Run side of 59, it would be another 13 years before their club got promoted to the old Div 1. So its our turn to be a lower league side again. We''ll be back, it might take a few years, but it WILL happen. In the meantime - live with it, and carry on supporting the club - it needs you.

    2) Prudence without Ambition maybe - but at least prudence means we still have a club. Look at
Southampton - they could be out of business before next season starts, at least we still have a club to support

    3) I''m City Til I Die - that means I will follow the Club until I''m in a box. If the club ends up in the Conference or below, I''ll still follow them. If they go out of business then I''ll do all I can to help get the club restarted again - just as Aldershots fans did (and for that matter Newport). Those guys never gave up, and in the case of the Shots theyre back

    4) Is being in League One so bad? We’ve now got a chance of ''Giant Killing''
Peterborough, not to mention Ipswich. Chances are we''ll win more games than we lose - and that has to be better.

    5) In 30 odd years following the Canaries I''ve seen us get promoted 3 times, relegated 5 times, reach a playoff final, win the Milk Cup and get to 2 FA Cup Semis. I''ve seen us beat Bayern Munich and lose to Barnet in 2-legged cup competitions. There have been plenty of lows, but lots of highs too. I''d rather have that than mid-table obscurity in the Prem - what can
Bolton and Wigan fans actually look forward to? They''ll never win the league, and probably won''t win the cups either - they might qualify for Europe but won''t get beyond the QFs - and they won''t go down. Whilst I''m not belittling those clubs - they do pretty well to regularly survive in a very tough league - I think I''d rather have seasons of ups and seasons of downs rather than lots of nothingness....

    6) Finally - those people that do walk away at the moment the club needs you (and I''ve heard people threatening to do this) - you''re no more fit to wear the shirt than some of those players out there today. If you follow the club only when its moderately successful and has the chance of promotion to the Prem and a home league game against Man U, then we''re better off without you. The club will survive and do well again because of the many thousands of fans that will keep it going

On the Ball City, never mind the danger.....

Good post, and welcome to the forum. While change has to happen in the boardroom and the dug out,you have hit the nail on the head. A true fan sticks with their team through thick and thin (and it doesn''t get much thinner than this).
Does a true fan sit by idly and watch their own club self destruct itself and say nothing. I''d rather be in the premiership in mid table rather than staring league 1 with the chance of winning a Johnstone Paint trophy competition. Portsmouth and Cardiff battled out the FA Cup last year, hardly the top 4 of the premiership but 2 teams prepared to go all out for a trophy. Whereas we haven''t got past round 3 and also losing to teams contesting the JPT aswell, what needs to be changed is the mentality at the club which is only going to come from changes from the top!!

  3.
The defining moment for me was when the final whistle went yesterday!!!
The defining moment was when Gunn was appointed, that was in January. The board decided there and then that in the biggest season in the last few years that NCFC was worthy of someone with no experience, enough said!!

There were still enough points to play for and long enough to have brought in a few extra recruits, yesterday the team played for Gunn like they did for Roeder!!

  4. One of Roeders failings was that he would not play the youth from the club and I get the feeling that the board have looked at all the things Roeder did wrong and make sure Gunn is the total opposite. Unfortunatley Gunn has proven that he is not tactically aware and he is there just to say the board tried to put things right.

I don''t mind the fact we have been relegated but the fact I don''t feel we have given it any fight and that we are still not learning from our mistakes is the worrying thing that doesn''t sit well. How the board can not hold their hands up and admit they got it wrong amazes me and they continue to say they will use their blue print to carry on.

To listen to MWJ yesterday say they had tried experienced managers and that had failed baffled me because who were they referring to?Our last 3 managers have been a marketing manager,an out of work manager and an asst manager all of which points to very little experience from where I am sat.

The loanees are not the reason we got relegated this season.

The two weakest areas of the pitch were central midfield and full back.   Of those ONLY Bertie was a loanee,  and he played with more committment on monday nights than Ots, Cling or Russell - all permanent players.

We HAVE got the balance wrong.  However there is a place for us to build a squad that contains loanees.  We had too many this season,  and crucially too many that did not even get a game or were shocklingly poor (who was responsible for identifying those targets - oh yes....) The likes of Mooney, Lita, Lee, Bertrand and Lupoli were all better than we had and played well.

We had more problems with our ''owned'' players than the loaned - lack of committment/attitude problems from Russell, Clingan, Fozzy, Pattison, Otsemebor, shackell before he left,  - lack of bility from Otsemebor, Russell, Clingan, Fozzy, Pattison, Cureton, Lappin, Drury etc etc etc.

Lack of committment from loan players is a risk and more understandable;  however we saw less passion and fire from our own players (consistently from Russell, Clingan, Fozzy, Pattison, Otsemebor)  than we did the loanees - and that is unforgiveable
I think you need to watch the game again because Bertie has not out performed Clingan and his committment stinks of being a loanee unlike Clingan. Also where was Bertie yesterday when we needed him, allegedly out on the pull the night before along with a few others by all accounts whereas Clingan was one of just a few who gave their all.

  6. I get the feeling that he is a confidence player and if you take that away from his game he has nothing. He closes the opposition down once they have passed him and he does not seem to read the danger situation very well.

If you watch the other defenders they seem to give him that look as if to say what were you playing at there!! He was at fault for both goals against Reading and he doesnt want to throw himself in where it hurts to defend.

In my opinion we can not continue with him as he is too much of a liability and seeing the club use prozone I''m surprised that this hasn''t been more evident.

  7. If we drove Cureton out why did Roeder not even mention his name when asked about him. Roeder didn''t have time for Cureton and it was our board who let him out to one of our relegation candidates,so don''t blame the fans for pushing out Cureton.

    Shut up you helmet
You are a muppet for even responding in this fashion. Gunn should share some blame as he has had long enough to have an impact, he has bought in players that have been totally useless aswell and his tactics at time have been bewildering to say the least.

Its a shame that even if we disagree with each other, you come on here with your juvenile comments.

  9. I don''t think they are trying to scare the kids Canarytim, but if we just sit by and accept it your young family might never see a NCFC team playing in the leagues. If we do what you say and just sit by this club might go down the pan anyway, there are people who could run this club alot better than the current board.

The youngsters should not have to put up with the club being in league 3/4 just because some adults weren''t big enough to say they when ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Hope you get all the signatures and photos you want of all those gutless players!!

Kids usually want to follow the top teams and idolise the stars, not the lot you want to applaud tomorrow!

  10. What have these two brought to the table apart from a bit of back up for Gunn. Our defence is our achilles and under Butterworth the players responded at first but recently they have been as effective as a chocolate fireguard.Otsemobor today was a casual bystander and everybody else in defence wasn''t alot better.

Why was Shackell taken out from central defence when he has formed a good partnership with Doherty, when we could have put Leijer as right back? Has Crook done anything constructive since coming on board and as for Deehan, what has he bought to the table?

  11. Lets wait and see what wednesday brings, but if we don''t remove Gunn it shall mean even less chance of getting out of League 1.

Munby is talking without seeing if there any knock on effects from today but if we start protesting against the board they''ll have to take note.

To have lost the last 5 out of the 6 remaining games just shows that the players don''t really want to play for Gunn (they didn''t turn up today/against Reading/2nd half of Ipswich/Swansea) but Munby will see him as the ideal candidate.

  12. Because that is where the club feels it most. Everybody is entitled to protest in what way they seem fit, but look at how quickly the board moved to release Roeder when the season ticket deadline was approaching and you''ll see the boards achilles.

I understand that people still want to support the team and have bought their tickets but some also want to show their dis-satisfaction of the boards running of the club at the same time!!

  13. I can''t recall NCFC or Delia returning the parachute payments or complaining about them when we were relegated even though other clubs in the championship still out performed us. Until we get our own house keeping in order and stop wasiting money on agents fees and selling players out of contract (Croft),paying off contracts of bad managers (Roeder and Grant and paying off Worthington),buying un wanted assets we will always struggle with finances.

Perhaps reduce Doncasters wage slightly or even better get rid of it and get players who will earn their money or play for the shirt and we will be moving in the right direction.

  14. Well that just sums up the board who said it was until the end of the season. Gunn isn''t up for it and he has shown it...go back to being a manager...the marketing one!!

If he has been told that he has it for next season even though the board has not had its meeting until wednesday really just shows that the board treat us with no respect.

  15. Did she complain about the money which we received when we were in the Premiership, we can''t bleat about it when we have waisted money on loanees who never kicked a football for us or ones we carried on paying for players who returned home injured.

What about the settlements we have paid out for when managers who have been absolutely useless or the player of the season who is leaving on a free transfer, the Huckerby saga or Roeder backroom staff.

We can''t complain about money until we get our housekeeping in order and that means starting from the chief executive who has let the club run itself into the ground and allowed it to get to this point.
