Cardiff and Hull both kick out their managers.

Thats how good those 2 teams were that we managed to lose to at the start of the season..

Yes, two poor results at the start of the season, on the plus side since then we’ve beaten several sides who haven’t sacked their managers, so I guess that means they’re good teams and we did well to beat them.

This could be the night that my often suspected colourblind-ness is proven. To my eye England are wearing Orange ?

Looks a bit pink to me, also the black stripe on Germany shirt isn’t the same ‘shade’ of black on the shorts, looks a bit weird close up.

If you're going to get rid of the Monarchy then everything must change - make the House of Lords a second elected chamber, bring in PR and have fixed terms for the president. The change will of course cost shed loads but it will be worth it in the long run because they'll be more money for the NHS, schools, infrastructure etc, etc.

I heard it was about 350 million a week, oh wait…….

  4. I felt Pukki was struggling as the game progressed (looking tired and his touch was heavy) and I personally thought he should have been subbed in the earlier substitutions to allow Sarge to play centrally. I didn’t think McLean was bad tonight but the midfield issues seem to me to be not transitioning fast enough in attack and little to no coverage when defending, mainly the full backs not being covered by Nunez and Cantwell, they are both good in the attacking phases but not so good at covering, although Cantwell used a lot of energy in the first half recovering lost balls. I think Byram had a poor game tonight and once again failed to have an understanding with the right midfielder, particularly Onel who had words with him, like Cantwell did against Coventry. A very disjointed performance overall and I think Smith reacted too late to the sustained pressure at the end of the first half, BC played well once they recovered from the 2 sucker punch goals and overall I felt it was a lucky win. Six wins on the bounce speaks volumes though OTBC.

I get making your own Lasagne, or cottage pie... But you can't just make your own bacon, can you?  Surely the pig does all the work.

I mean, where is your starting point... cutting a pig up?  If so, you're just unfairly taking the credit here.

If you're carefully excercising and eating certain foods and then slicing it from your a**e... Then I'm all ears, sugartits! 🙂

Wow, way to blow my mind with your ignorance sugartits, try googling it 🤣

True, that. The Chorleywood process produces bread with little nutrition. You're better off cutting out white bread and going straight for the rough oatcakes.

Poor bacon hacks me off, and the bacon in that roll doesn't look good. So much white stuff (usually that's albumen, a sign it was treated with brine to speed up a cure) is a put-off, and better bacon is, IMO, dry-cured.

I make my own bacon, the taste is superior to any shop/butcher bought bacon I’ve ever had, and you can flavour it your own way, easy to do too.

It’s a bit more sophisticated than that but it’s on team/player performances (including xG), cultural and personal fit etc rather than results/league table. So Marinus Dijkhuisen got sacked after 8 games (W2 D2 L4) more for the manner of the performances and his attitude to fitness and training (in the Dutch way he thought it should build over the season rather than have everyone at top fitness from first game) and Frank (W1 D1 L8) was never under threat. In both that run and the pre-Eriksen run of iirc one draw and 7 defeats the underlying performances were (Southampton away aside) good. Losing 2-0 at the Etihad gave us as many points as you and Leeds got there but on the basis of competing and making two smallish errors which were ruthlessly exploited rather than just being comprehensively outplayed for 90 minutes.

This works both ways. Many were amazed Benham didn’t extend Warburton’s contract after 14-15 and indeed decided this in the February of a season where we made the Championship play offs. Warburton simply didn’t buy into the use of stats as being anywhere near as important as his own skill as the manager who took us up for the first time in over 20 years. Subsequent careers for him and BFC tell the tale

The belief, based on evidence over long time periods, is that things like xG give a good indicator of underlying quality. Football is a low scoring game so the stats have to be taken in the context of unlikely things sometimes happening game to game but that over a season they usually happen both ways and team results regress to the mean of team performances. Our DoF said you can’t make a sensible assessment of most players until they’ve played 25-35 games and it’ll be similar with managers unless there’s something bigger like just not fitting.

Thanks for the insight, by the way I think Warburton probably posts on here 😉

You do realise that UEFA has a coefficient system which measures the strength of different leagues based on an algorithm which gives a lot of weight to performance in European competition don't you?

And that it ranks Dutch football as the 7th strongest and Greek football as the 15th strongest?

It was closer in 2009/2010 when Greece had a ranking of 12th and Netherlands a ranking of 10th.

Like, there is literally a system to measure this, your hunches or anecdotal evidence means very little.
