  1. I know that money does not equal success etc etc and that we will have spent a fair bit on the new contracts, signing on fee for Drmic, loan fee for Fahrmann, Roberts etc...but if we don't sign anyone else and end the summer with a transfer fee outlay of c.£750k (plus say around £2m on loan fees)....then that will be very brave indeed. That would surely constitute our lowest summer spending in years (maybe last summer aside)?

Webber talked about how sometimes transfer can't happen until towards the end of the window due to other clubs waiting to sign players, or prices dropping as the deadline approaches. This is probably even more complicated due to the window in England closing about a month before other countries. The soundbites coming out of Farke also don't make it sound like he is desperate for anyone else to come it, so he could very well be happy with what he has - if a formation change is planned then he might not consider a new defensive midfielder a high priority.

If, for example, Farke is planning to play more of a 4-3-3 than a 4-2-3-1 then having then is less need for an all action midfielder as the extra body in that area would mean less need for someone who can cover significant amount of ground.

Do you think we currently have anyone good enough to play that central role whether it be in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3? I personally don't, which is why I'm slightly concerned. Of course Farke and Webber know more than myself, though!

  3. Klose simply does not have the attributes to be a DM - mobility for one. We need to buy a specialist and I'm genuinely a bit shocked that we haven't already. Considering how much emphasis Farke places on bedding players in and ensuring that they are up to our fitness levels/style of play, we are definitely leaving it a bit late - which makes me worried that maybe it's not even going to happen at all?

  4. Considering how few casual tickets are now available, it seems crazy that there still isn't some sort of loyalty system for non-ST holders for home games. I am guaranteed a ticket for any away game I wish to go to, yet will really struggle to get to many home games in the current system.

The Gary Gower’s tweet is a joke, so I don’t think the situation has changed since the other week.

Norwich want Rhodes, but only if the price is right. What Norwich consider to be the right price and whether he would be third or second choice is the crux of the matter.

If he’s cheap and can be signed on a shortish contract, then I’m happy for him to come in and be third choice. If Norwich sign him over a Drmic or even a da Costa, then I’m not particularly happy.

There is running this transfer window with one eye on whether the club is relegated, which is the sensible approach but signing Rhodes as 2nd choice would be as if the club was never promoted.

Was it a joke? He went on to reply saying that the info was from the same guy who apparently said Rhodes was joining on loan before there were any rumours last summer.

  6. He's done a decent job, but Vrancic has to come in for McLean now for me. I understand the whole don't change a winning team argument but there is only so long you can leave two of your best players on the bench in such an important period, and we haven't been massively convincing in midfield of late.

Vrancic gets the nod over Moritz imo.

Yes Stieperman was one of them, he did OK but I can't imagine even you saw him as anything more than a utility player.

I will also add Vrancic, you could see last season he was a good passer who worked hard but often he left gaps in the middle and arrived a bit too late when tracking players.

Srbeny looked an absolute shocker last season too. He hasn't had to be called on often this season but has done a job.

Don't know what you mean about Murphy. He does what Hernandez does now but I would say he was more of a consistent goal threat with it. Bet he would have loved to have had the opportunity to supply Pukki and Rhodes last year too. Game after game he flashed balls across the 6 yard box but we had no one making a run and gambling on the ball coming in. A winger looks a lot better when they have a couple of poachers to supply.

Hernandez is so much better than Murphy.

Having Rhodes there as an outlet made a huge difference 2nd half. Meant Preston couldn't press us as hard like in the first half. Not sure Bolton have the personell to do that. Think they will be more kick and rush with some dangerous big defenders. Our normal game will be far more suited to playing them.

As for Tettey, I honestly didn't think he was bad tonight. He looked very useful 2nd half

    I thought Rhodes was awful.

  9. I can only assume those calling for Stiepers to be dropped did not see how poor we/Pukki looked without him at Brentford and West Brom (despite grinding out good results). Even when he's not on his game - and admittedly he was poor on Sunday - he is crucial to how we play. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Bielsa regulary announces his team a day or two before a match - it is nothing unusual for him.

Only 10 men as he didn’t want to name Dan James in the team before he signs from Swansea.

Casllia, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Alioski, Forshaw, Harrison, Klich, Roberts, Hernandez, Roofe.

Looks like 11 to me, whether they sign Dan James or not
