I don't think we've had that in our last 2 PL seasons, generally I'd say this was down to Webber not putting as much stock into the value of a head coach as I would. Even then, after it became clear Farke wasn't going to work the second time around, if your only options are between Dean Smith and Frank Lampard then you're as good as done for already.
Realistically the only way we will get a really top coach in is by hiring them in the championship and going on that journey with them, it's what we hoped for with Farke. It's why I always said we should go for Russell Martin, but anyone in that mould fits. Part of our model is that we will have players who go on to play for bigger clubs, that should apply to the manager role too.
I have to agree with this , a manager is crucial for the chances of survival. Someone like Thomas Frank at Brentford or even Rob Edwards at Luton have had an enormous impact on the survival chances of their respective clubs. I know Luton are still favourites to be relegated too, but Edwards has done a fantastic job there on a shoestring budget . With a manager that could bring the very best out of our current squad, I think we would be a place or two higher in the league...

That's the point , but how far could it still go then ? The money involved now is already mind boggling.

Roeder, Gunn , Grant...

Look, I don't want the Scum getting promoted , but let's focus on ourselves. It would be some achievement to get to the Play-offs and those are a lottery , as we all know.

This is my main problem with the booing - it's usually based on half a story, or a perceived notion of what the story is. I get that this is really a cumulative cause/effect based on the season, but I really don't think people consider the injuries Wagner has had to deal with, or the lack of depth in our squad.
The football we played early doors last night was very attractive and entertaining IMO. If this was peoples' main concern with Wagner, I don't think it's reasonable to boo considering that we are making progress, and have now hit the top six.My opinion too , people in the crowd booing will not have completely known what was behind the decision to substitute and I don't think the lads that came on did a bad job. I didn't agree with the booing , but that's my point of view , yet I'm struggling to understand the boo-boys...I just think they didn't understand why Sarge and Onel were taken off ,(yet they couldn't have known anyway) ....imho that doesn't make it right to boo your own team!

What a great victory that was ! Buffalo Bills showing they're only getting better even the mount of injuries doesn't stop McDermott calling decisive defensive plays . The change of OC is the turning point in the season everybody will be talking about.

My Buffalo Bills have won the AFC East for the 4th straight time . I went to Orchard Park , back in 2008 when it was still waiting for a playoff game .... since 1999.
Is this going to be our year??? I daren't hope for it , but the way this team has come back from all the injuries and probs in mid-season is impressive. #JA17 is one of the best playmakers in the league and on his day he can overcome anything.
Let's go Buffalo!

I don't think it's a case of the Championship getting poorer....it's about the Premier League getting richer and clubs being loaded with quality players as a consequence.
Premier League table tells you a tale ... it happened to us and it's happening to Burnley🤷♂️ -
Good luck , Pete!

I’ve had such a fantastic time the last 4 years under Farke, playing Blackburn and Preston again, being promoted again only to be the whipping boy of the Prem again fills me with about as much joy as January and February. I’m starting to not give a shiit
You're not alone

In the American system with drafts , salary caps , etc... this actually is a fact . A team can rebuild there, has a process of getting it all together in a few seasons time , but I don't think it works for football atm...no money , often means no hope of getting a process going that will succeed ( in our case "staying up in the PL for more than one season" would mean succeeding tbh). I hope we can succeed , but it will be a very, very tough ask
I feel you are right , this "'process" is often used when you just got stuffed by a much better side...
-
Just be fair...only a few of these signings are really good enough for the Premier League ... not moaning, stating facts...you and I can see it week in week out. Best signing : Normann by a mile
DS has already shown what was needed at management level
I you think our team is genuine PL material at the moment , I feel you are thinking with your heart and not with your head

I work in the marketing and sales world and I think it is quite good. As has been pointed out before in the thread , I think just the ball is not good. On the whole it has been well designed imho.

A point would be a good result. I am feeling more confident after Saturday , not just because we won as we could easily have lost ... Yet our manager was able to change the way we played when needed and I think he will be shrewd enough to put a side out that will give Wolves a good game.

Completely agree with OP! I was hesitant when we appointed DS...it's only one game etc... but he's shown me he can adapt and is tactically much more flexible which I think is crucial
-
For me it did show how out of depth DF was in the PL. I love him for what he's done for our football club, but he wasn't up to the premier league.
I mean the way DS changed things round and his game management... sorry we didn't see enough of that with DF in the pl

S why he's my favourite player in this side. Dependable and commands respect

Smith has done something right! The second half proves that. Attitude was top
