1.

To begin with I will declare that I like Delia Smith. I have met her on occasions and despite her success she is as ordinary as the majority of us. She has been a supporter of Norwich City long before she and her husband took up controlling influence and if she has a fault it appears to be to let her heart rule her head on occasions. Delia has kept her head down for a long time now. We have more up front executive members at the Club and a manager who isn''t exactly a shrinking violet. So why oh why do the cowards and bullies on this board continue to insult and abuse this woman as if she were deliberately setting out to inflame them? She cannot help not being a mega-rich foreign investor with a dubious background and with what she is good at she has used to increase non-football earnings at the Club. Delia Smith is not a saint nor is she a sinner. She is criticised for her celebrity (although she does have a talent) and vilified for not being some sort of financial demi-god. Get over it and concentrate on the football will you. Or are some of you so sad and lacking you need to have a ''red top'' style go at someone well known in order to boost your own self esteem.
Complete drivel. This is a forum son for people to express there feelings. If you dont like it go to suffolk.
Ah the standard "My opinion isn''t the same as yours, therefore your opinion is stupid" reply from Athur, nice to see your traditional forum ettiquette. and I believe Rudolph is expressing his feelings in a constructive and sensible manner, which as you said is what this forum is for. This forum is not for petty people such as yourself to go around insulting everyone who disagrees with you.
RH i will agree to disagree because the simple facts are that under this board things have gone backwards and id be surprised [although i hope im proved wrong] if things improve this season. The people upstairs have made it very hard for the men on the ground imo and after selling yet again the cream of the team we have imo replaced them with players that are no better at all. I think the team is stronger in depth but the first 11 is much weaker because the money we have earned from our best 3 first 11 players has not been reinvested in the same quality . Ps UEA Grad... If you think RH original post was constructive and sensible i would suggest you read it again as he has suggested in it that anyone who dislikes Delias running of the club is a coward and bully with a low self esteem or did you just happen to ignore that bit because you agree with it? Im not on here to make arguement so maybe we''ll draw a line under it? Yay or nay?
 2.
2-0 city. Preston have lost too many key players and havent replaced them. I expect them to struggle this year.
Oh and there pre season has been dire from what i can gather add on top the fact they have no strikers i would expect nothing but a win.

 10.

Ahhh the News of the World, a fine choice of newspaper if you''ve run out of toilet paper... As for being a selling club, every club has ins and outs and is to be expected especially when you''ve not had the most successful season. The transfers going out were all done against the wishes of the club, barring Safri who while being a good player, will fail to make much more than 20 apperances again this season, possibly less if Morroco do well. As for the degregration of our new signings and current players, you should have made a point of better options or your choice of players, but you didn''t because you don''t know any better. As for whether certain players will come good, well isn''t that part of the excitement? not knowing what could happen? The center back issue, I completely agree on. If that is sorted I''ll be quitly confident [:)]
Why has everything got to turn into some sort of ''''I now better than you nah nah nah nah nah''''  arguement? I suggest you come back down a lttle from your somewhat over inflated ego. Oh and as for your comment about the NOTW. I find the sports pages usually very good unlike the rest of the paper so thats why i read it. Unlike the Guardian or whatever it you no doubt read. Regards
Nowhere in my post do I pretend or say to know better, I am merely challenging your points, which if you don''t like you really shouldn''t be posting on a messageboard. No matter what you say the NOTW is still a tabloid rag, and personally I prefer something with a little more credability (no not the guardian). I notice you failed to counter argue any of my important points made,  but then thats what you do 90% of the time. Any time someone tries to argue a point against you all you can seem to do is resort to a few childish insults and avoid any of the points made by the other poster. I''m afraid if your going to be a thread starter you''ve gotta be prepared for people to challange you.
If you bothered to read the original post i quite clearly state that i dont go along with the news of the worlds prediction, so please read it again and get back to me. You seem very touchy when proved wrong.
 11.

I remember that Fulham game as we were wlking across the bridge when the boat full of our boys came cruising along the river followed by a couple of police launches. Was like something out of Benny Hill! Seems to be one or two days out a season these days when a few of the old faces appear for a bit of a day out! The lads will always be there as (contrary to what some people like to make out) they are real fans and most do go to games. Not much real trouble now though as the consequences are too severe for what in other scenarios would be regarded as pretty minor offences.
I was actually on that boat. See 1st wizards thread "wonderful city memories" , in the archives. "taking a boat to the match at Fulham, and watching my mate enjoy what he thought was water splashing in his face untill he realised someone was having a p@ss off the deck and was getting soaked in urine."
You would no doubt know my son Millo? I had to laugh about the peeing incident, i''ll mention it to him. He was saying that in the main they were all like minded lads who more than anything liked a drink loved Norwich and sometimes the compination of both got them in a few scrapes!

As for Brellier I''m assuming you didnt watch him in action the other night so how can you comment on him???
I have seen Brellier play 3 times in scotland when ive been up there which is more than 1 friendly against a patched up Vitesse Arnham friendly. Hes decent in the scots league but i reserve judgement till the end of the season. Im not saying hes better than safri or Etuhu because he played well against Vitesse bloody Arnham.
 13.
So whilst you are free to comment on such things I think all UEA is trying to say is don''t take them as Gospel, they are only printed opinions. We were favourites for relegation when we reached the play-off finals.
Read the original post. I said i dont go along with the News of the worlds prediction.
 14.
Still goes on but a closed group.  The reason the book mentions Norwich is because we were taken out at the Old Den before the game, and at Liverpool St Station, but got our own back big time in Clarence road for the home game.  Went off most games in the late 60''s and 70''s.  80''s became more organised and saw the start of the Casual scene (no colours and designer clothes) which is still alive and kicking (excuse the pun) today. Btw...don''t talk about BP on here. This "shirters" forum is certainly not for these conversations and neither are the ones quoted on here which are run by kids.  Those involved today very rarely use the internet as those sites are monitored (and have been known to have been started) by the police football intelligence officers (football, police, & intelligence in the same sentence, wow) .......have mobile phone will travel. DLTFRYD
Its proberly not to clever to mention names but its all in the past now and BP is but a distant memory from all accounts. Anyway it does seem that even Norwich has and to a lesser extent still have got a fair few rowdies! Im not going to pretend i didnt now it happened but ive been talking with my son about it and im quite shocked at the extent of it even at a club like Norwich. Although he''s now a father and its very much in the past he knows one or two people with, shall we say,a bit of a ''''reputation'''' from his days drinking in the city. He was telling me about the last time he went with them against Fulham about 10 yrs ago. Apparently the Norwich boys decided to hire a Thames boat trip from london bridge to putney to avoid police detection but the ploice got wind of it and the Norwich police spotter got the Met police to follow it on speed boat and escort it to Fulham! The best bit was when the boat had to stop at westminster to stock up on liquid refreshment. I suppose at the end of the day boys will be boys although im glad its not like that in the grounds these days.

 16.

lmao. Unlike people that flame Smudger and Cluck for their posts, I find Cluck especially pretty funny lmao. That''s not a dig at you btw Cluck, just that I find you humerous.
Now you lovely old boys , It seems the  posters that anger you the most are Wiz , who is a lovely old boy and easy to handle , Cluck, is perhaps one of the most intelligent posters on this board , the thing  that has struck me indeed knocked me sideways is his perception . Arto W whom i find a bit suspect , he should have known he could not sell his o,a,p, ticket to a young chap , and some of his post don''t sit easy with me . Smudger now theres a thing , the thing you must all remember is that they are all Norwich City fans and we must love them for that .[Y] arrdee.
No money had changed hand before i gave up my Ticket to my sons friend and it only dawned on me when it was mentioned on here. Ive been told by the club that my friend can go to the ticket office prior to the games and make up the difference in price. You are entitled to find my opinions suspect but i personally fail to see why. Maybe my opinions dont sit easy with yours Arrdee so could that just be why you find me suss? Regards
 17.
Back in the days when fighting actually went on inside grounds (70/80s) I seem to remember the Barclay hooligan element being led by a black (very rare in Carrow Road in those days) guy called Bernie Patterson. Seemed well known by opposition crews and and once caused a hilarious amount of chaos at Portman Road attempting to "take" one of the side stands while the main body of City supporters were behind the goal. Lack of numbers always did for them in the end when confronted by the big clubs (as seen in famous Man U visit in 1976). Probably not true but there was a rumour than on one trip North for a game they were all arrested after a fight in Peterborough.
Oh and apparantly they used to chant "Bernie is our leader" { although i didnt want to name my sons aquantences } and spray "steins r go" all round the city, you still see it in some parts.
 18.

Ahh that is what i thought, it was just I had never heard of any in Norwich.. Then again some teams who used to have bad reps were so I was told not the worst ones.. i.e. Millwall! Anyone else out there no anymore about Norwich Football Firms of years gone pastt..
My son was involved with a hooligan firm in norwich called the steins who caused all sorts of bother in the 80s and 90s and i dissowned him for a short time when he was deported from an england game. in his words there is now a norwich firm called norwich hit squad but they dont really cause trouble, just have a beer and go to the games in a group.
Arthur, you really know how to dish out the punishmet, how long was he on the naughty step?
About 3 years, he was deported from Holland in 1993 and his face was in the papers.

My son reccomends a book to anyone interested. Its called A-Z of Hooligans by Nick Lowles and Andy Nicholls. Does not appeal to me, but my son thinks its a good read. He also says the films the football factory and green street are no where near the realistic and a bit corny/cheesy, although he finds the football factory funny.

I know they left but what im saying is i would feel more confident with them in the team than there replacements. As for brellier, i think hes ok but not an improvement on what we had last year.
 21. The news of the world have predicted a 16th place finish for us next year. Cant say i go along with that, anything other than a top 10 finish is a fail. Id rather have Earnie than Cureton and rather have Etuhu and safri in midfield than brellier and russell but i cant see anything other than top 10. The big concern is that the fact remains we are a selling club, and with Marshall being without doubt the best in this league i could see a possible move for him and wouldnt be suprised if he wasnt here this time next year. {david}Marshall however is what im banking a good season on. Green and Marshall{Andy} were well overated but this guy is the business, and if we do lose him the confidence will drain from the back to the front. We also need a decent centre back asap to strenghen the team, and personally i would take a punt on free agent Andy Cole for competition up front. My main concern with the squad is the likes of Lappin, fotherington, Doc, Dury, and whether Dave Striker is all hes cracked up to be. Prediction-7th
 22.
There is still at least one. Norwich youth firm. - Pure violence mob FROM MODS: Link to their site moderated out - exchange it by PM if you want to - Celia
according to my son, this "youth" firm are "nothing more than a bunch of chavs who have read too many books and watched the football factory and green street too many times ". My sons quote, hes round with the kids and finds the whole thing quite amusing, mostly because there hasnt been any proper " firm" for years according to him, and it shames me to say he was quite involved in it all. I find the whole thing strange to be honest. Whats wrong with having a drink with a rival fan?
 23.
Just out of curiosity, i know it is a backdated thing now, but during the supposed ''glory'' days of football hooligans did we ''little old'' Noriwch have any kind of firm or group?
there hasnt been any trouble for about 3 or 4 years according to my son who knows a lot of them. some nice chaps, you wouldnt think they had a violent side to look at them. But thats not really the sort of thing we should talk about on a family forum.

 25.

Why bother posting at all?. Now the old 1st wiz could moan for England, but even he managed to praise at times! there are some on here who cannot say anything good or positive about our brillant club. I don''t care what club it is, City have the best fans in the world, okay we might not have the wealth of some clubs, but we''re an honest club. We have the best disabled area for supporters in the land, if not Europe, the best food, and of course its all based in Norfolk. As a Suffolk person who spends an awful lot of time in Norfolk, I know the pleasure I get when I travel there. In Peter Grant, we now have a forthright and honest guy at the helm of good ship City, and whilst Delia might have some tiny faults ( who hasn''t?) I''d rather she was here than some foreign ''wildcard'' investor. If it takes 10 years to get promoted, so what?, God willing, we will still be supporting the team then. It breaks my heart to read some of the bile written on here about our club, I cannot believe or accept that any true City fan would write those kind of things, yes, I know in the past I had my moments, but never to the level of whats happening now. I''m damn proud of my club, I always have been. I''m dead pleased how Granty''s team is coming along, I''m also pleased he''s got rid of the ''Costa Del Colney'' brigade (including Safri!) Oh no doubt, the usual predictable insults will now follow, and from the same old posters. I just wonder if things are so bad, why they bother to post at all?. They''ll say its because they care, sorry, but thats utter tripe!, if you care you don''t hurt the people you care about!. Sometime in the future a lot of people involved with Norwich are going to be owed a huge apology, and we all know who should be apolgising don''t we?.[;)]
Well said Wiz, Can''t wait for the usual tripe brigade to come along, I find there blind arrogance and complete stupidity a right laugh. The funny thing is that they may say we post because we care but really what progress have they made on their campaign front, nothing! Unless your counting Cluck''s post count which is an achievement I suppose, but you know what they say about quantity over quality. As for your last point Wiz, good luck getting Smudger or Cluck to apoligise...
So im arrogant and stupid because i hate the fact the club are not progressing in any manner on the pitch? Im all of this because for the last 10 or so seasons we''ve plodded along whilst being told every year that things are getting better? Im not going to carry on with my opinions of whats wrong with this club because ive said them all before but your the one im laughing at son and one day when you take off your little yellow and grren tinted glasses and get in the real world [although being a student i will excuse you for the time being] you might just might ee why i was laughing. Toodle pip.
That attitude is exactly what I''m talking about, blind arrogance that you are correct and I must be stupid and ignorant for believing contary to your point. Until that bridgade can be mature and sensible about its points it will continue to be an utter joke and will be treated with the due respect.
I cant believe your hypocritcal response student.....i''ll leave mate.
