  1. As other have pointed out unless he can get an appeal as some kind of exceptional young talent, it's hard to see how he qualifies. Canada are 43rd in the FIFA rankings, so signing him and loaning him back or out to another club for a season might work.

Now, social media seems to set a mood which dictates that anything less than consistent winning is a reason to turn on the club we support. Not just Norwich - many other clubs are far, far worse. And it's always a loud minority of social media that succeeds in setting the agenda, increasingly feeding into other influencers such as the press, radio and TV. Who is setting this agenda? we have no idea at all but it is no exaggeration to say that some individuals appear to be on the psychopathic spectrum. Cruel, no conscience, destructive, untruthful.

I think it's a mixture of things. Traditional printed media is dying and resorting to sensational click bait style headlines to try to sell.

Then you have the 'influencers'. Youngsters barely out of their teens looking for media careers, who work very hard, and like criticising but ultimately have paper thin egos.

Stuart Webber's conduct over the past twelve months has been pretty odious and honestly pathetic, but I do have a degree of sympathy. I don't think it's very professional of him though.

Quite, I suppose he was at least consistent - talked absolute b******s right to the very end.

At least this morning we could just have a good laugh at his nonsense and of course he also can now get on with what he has always really wanted - earning some 'real' money, presumably speaking on the after dinner circuit and writing for the muppets in the Tory press - they are welcome to him 😂😂

I'm not sure though. Biden utterly hates him after the potshots he took at Obama. I doubt he gets the lucrative deals Blair got for helping Bush after 911 and supporting him with the invasions of Iraq. Yesterday, he pretty much admitted he met up with an ex-KGB agent, whilst as Foreign Secretary, without any UK officials present straight after sensitive NATO discussions after the Salisbury poisoning incidents. Internationally he's seen as a pariah, and even the tubthumping crowd are getting sick of him.

For me it was the Southampton game where he came on at half time and locked the right side of the pitch down. Carried the ball up the field constantly whilst providing an outlet with his physicality.

He obviously needs to work on being more composed in the final third but he is still young enough. He'll be playing in a team (hopefully) on the front foot in a non top 5 league for the first time so he should have plenty of time to work on it.

The header at Watford of course is something I think we should be looking to make a weapon of ours. With Gianoullis and Rashica on the wing we can certainly stick a nice ball in to that far post header.

For me Sargent arguably isn't a natural goal scorer, but he's only 22 and he's big and strong.

I think you've highlighted the key point, which is that he's looked best playing wide right in a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-3, which are the formations Dean Smith is looking to going forward.

Whilst I doubt we're going to start playing Pulis-ball, I think we're going to copy a trick of having big strong strikers run the channels in a 4-5-1 instead of conventional wingers, especially if we get back to the Premiership.

  5. Apologies if there's an open thread on this already

Championship club West Brom gave a loan of £4.95m to a company owned by chairman and owner Guochuan Lai to help it through the coronavirus pandemic.

The details of the loan are contained in West Brom's accounts to June 2021, released on Thursday.

Lai says he will return the money, with £50,000 interest, by 31 December 2022 after the initial repayment date was moved from 15 September.

"I will repay the loan in full," he told the club website.

The news will come as a shock to West Brom fans as it took money out of the club that could have been used for transfers both last summer and this, as the club tries to return to the Premier League.

Listening to the Pinkun boys they say Smith has made it clear the two biggest holes he wanted plugging was DM and an AM.

We got the DM. If we are looking for the AM and Twine wasn’t on our radar you’d have to ask why?

Maybe we may end up with someone better come start of the season, we’ll have to wait and see.

However let’s not pretend one of our strongest rivals getting a talented player who fits our usual buying criteria and is exactly the type of player we are looking for isn’t on face value a bit of a blow.

Specifically though I understand Dean Smith was looking for an 8, a box to box midfielder who could score.

Believe Twine played in an advanced role, either left wing/striker in a 3-4-3 or as an out and out striker.

I'd expect he's targeting someone with some legs and physicality, and I'm not sure Twine fits the bill.
