  1. West ham are a bigger club than Norwich City. That is an indisputable fact based on history recent and long term. Come on .. the move was an inevitable consequence of relegation at least he is not at Wigan, Birmingham or West Brom. Deano deserves Premiership football and we should be delighted he stayed over the summer. What''s important is to make sure this money is spent properly. Earnshaw???

  2. No of course you are right our immediate away form is extremely impressive but you have got to be stunned by the amount of times we lose away over the recent campaigns. Maybe it just seems so many because I always seem to be there! Yes it was Premiership last season but to not win a single away match? I just feel something in the set up is not right ... maybe it''s something the mind coach has picked up on!

  3. I feel your frustration. I think we really need to remember how many key individuals are missing or off full match fitness from the team at the moment. However, Etuthu, Thorne, Colin, Louis-Jean, Robinson and JJ (for different reasons) have all failed to get the fans overly excited. After seeing Holt, Mulryne, Malky, Francis, Bentley go over recent times many will be left wondering how poor the players that have been brought in really are. Only time will tell but you cannot deny a nagging feeling that the team we had is now diluted with weakened players and many of our old shining lights have dimmed slightly since the relegation. Do Deano/Green want away, does Hucks terrorise as he did, do we really miss Francis that much, is Safri the key to all our dynamism ...

Would it be a disaster or a rebirth if Ash and Greeno went and we got £10 max to spend? So many questions but perhaps it is dangerous to ponder too much after the disappointment of a draw against Plymouth ... especially when Palace seem to be going great guns and that doesn''t help the mood. Watford at Carrow Road on Saturday - Malky for a headed winner?

  4. Just a quick call out here. This is not intended as criticism of Worthington but I wonder how revealing this quotation from him is:

"I have always said your home form is of prime importance and whatever you pick up on the road is always a plus."

I have, for a long time, been frustrated with Norwich''s appalling away form. It is so tragic that I believe it really must point out that we are doing something clearly wrong in preparation or attitude. So many times I have seen Norwich come out from the tunnel away from all bubbly but within a minutes have fallen back, heads down, chasing the ball looking out classed. They rarely IMPOSE themselves on their opponents away.

Perhaps it is the humble attitude ... "whatever you pick up on the road is always a plus". Of course the players go out believing that they can win every game, and try to, but maybe this is part of the problem. They are not viewed as win-at-all costs matches because they aren''t at Carrow Road. This is tapping into the whole - I wish Norwich were more confident, imposing, proud and muscular argument too.

Remember we only needed to have won ONE away game in the Premier League to have stayed up and we didn''t/couldn''t.

    Thoughts?

  5. Fabian - sour grapes - Wilnis?

"They are not good enough to be top of the league. I know what it takes to be in the Premiership if they did go up they would need about 15 new players if they did go up they would come straight down by Christmas, with a record lowest points total. Norwich are having all the luck and they are not even having to play well to win games now."

... Shame about the fact that we we just stop beating you at the moment mate!

  6. Tactically speaking, either with the group of (ever decreasing) fit players in the squad or with a (will it ever happen) entirely fit squad for selection if you could make ONE tactical alteration to the way that Worthy fields his teams what would it be? ... and I don''t mean substitute the boss in the dug out!

  7. Yankeedoodle - "do you ever stop to think before you write about how logic works" ... hmmm how eloquently cutting.

What I mean is that there are other factors currently that are affecting the team just as there are other factors that come into play when you are top of the league. Our success is not solely down to Worthington as, I am sure, he would be the first person to agree. Regime change will not in the long term bring improvements to league position. I believe, in my humblest opinion that trust in the management will lead to long term revival and a climbing of the league. Worthington deserves to hold the job that he holds and talk of wishing to replace him with an ex player with minimal experience in management is quite frankly laughable ... now that is logic.

  8. Sorry Beno and Coney! I didn''t mean to sound fierce if thats how my posting came across! I was only asking you what made you so anti-Leon out of interest because I was so surprised by him being in your bottom five. Thanks for the explanation I appreciate your point but still have to say I am a bit of a Leon fan personally.

Sorry for any offence ... none intended

    Never Mind the Danger

  9. Beno27 why do you hate Leon? I have always felt McKenzie is your raw passion, running and energy that is needed in matches. His enthusiasm and fight are clear to see. Yes he can lack sharpness but he is a great contrast to what we offer up front, he scored goals in the Premier League, remember his debut against Ipswich, he gives 200% ... I think a fit McKenzie this season would see us within the playoffs by now. So what has made you put him down as one of your most hated Norwich players?

  10. Big_T it doesn''t make sense. Delia has her heart in the club but you wouldn''t want her as manager would you? Worthington has got heart. This is his team, his creation. Havent you heard Worthington in interviews, he is a man passionate about his football and passionate about Norwich City. You can''t honestly believe a man with no managerial experience at this level should replace a manager who has brought the club a play off final at Cardiff, Ashton, McKenzie, Crouch, Huckerby, promotion to the Premier League and one point from survival? I am willing to dispute whether Worthy should be sacked in the summer if play offs is not reached but to argue about replacing him with Crook is quite simply MAD.

  11. If that price tag is accurate I think it shows us more how desperate Arsenal are at the moment (injury prone Henry, no Viera, overly reliant on a youthful midfield) than how good the kid is. I have been impressed by his speed but not sure how good he is otherwise. Can you really tell yet? Hopefully Wenger won''t squash him as he did Pennant.

  12. Whether you like it or not the current board and boss will never risk or gamble. They will forever attempt to give Worthy as much spending and wages money as they can possibly do but never put the future financial options and security in danger at any cost. Some people should remember the type of player we could afford and attract pre-Worthy and early-Worthy. We are not a rich club and I am sorry Premier but you don''t see Saints and Palace pulling in multimillion pound superstars and Wolves, Leicester and Coventry didn''t do either when they fell from grace. We have to sell big to buy big.

  13. !!! The money that City have is tied up in wages and previous purchases of the likes of Green, Ashton, Huckerby, McKenzie etc. Yes we were promoted recently but that doesn''t keep you forever rich. The board pushed themselves to the limit to bring in the players that they did and should be solely praised for their determination to keep the football club financially secure. Or maybe you are  right ... sack the board, mess up the finances, become another Ipswich (or hopefully Leeds) and then you will really have something to whinge about ... perfect for you.

  14. ROSSI I cannot understand why you be content to see Ian Crook as manager of Norwich City in the summer!

Without need of mention, Crook will always be remembered as a legend but that does not qualify him for the position even with the managerial experience he wields. What about John Polston or Vicor Segura ... do you think they would do a better job than Worthington?

I dread the day that some fan''s predictions come true and we end up romantising about the Worthington era and stunned that so many had so much to grumble about when the team were, in context, doing so well. We are a big Championship club with some superb players and a proven manager. It is not because of Worthington that Norwich City aren''t top of the table.

  15. Who wouldn''t turn away the likes of Savage! But seriously you are right. It''s funny how some people always believe the grass is greener on the other side when things aren''t rolling your way. Who knows what Hayes could have done at Norwich if he had stayed ... he didn''t. If he had perhaps he would be Coote-ing around and getting a barrage of abuse from people because he couldn''t score enough goals at this level and why oh why couldn''t Worthy get in someone proven like Ashton etc.

Well done to the lad but he is not here any more and therefore we cannot blame Worthy for a golden saviour that never was. We should be thrilled to bits with the striking talent that we have here ... no club outside the Premiership wouldn''t swap 3 of their attackers for Ash, Hucks and McKenzie.

    Never mind the Danger

  16. "he is a rubbish manager with rubbish tactics who makes diabolical signings"

    !!!

    1. rescued from relegation/playoff final/Champions of division one/one point from Premiership safety in first season back ... this proves he is not a rubbish manager

    2. ditto above

    3. Dean Ashton, Leon McKenzie, Darren Huckerby, Kevin Harper, Ryan Jarvis, Peter Crouch. Yes some players have failed to impress and some need a lot more time and our patience but this proves his signings are not ''diabolical''.

We are in difficult times but some rationality and perspective is needed!

  17. The only reason that some of the fans are critical of Worthy and want him out is because of the new expectations that we have earned. We consider ourselves as a big Championship/almost-made-it-Premiership team because Worthy took us to one season in the top flight. In my opinion he deserves at least two years before people begin scutinising his position. He took us up (with a number of other factors) and he took us down (with a number of other factors) and now he is the man to get the best out of Norwich City and turn things around .... it is his team. A change of manager would not solve the problems. We are where we are because of a typical post Premiership malaise, unavoidable injuries, players dipping in and out of form, never being able to pick up any momentum, opponents flying at us because we are a scalp and many other factors. Yes Worthy may well need to take some of the can for this but he shouldn''t be cast adfrift!

Get a fired up Leon back up front scraping and pumping Ash back up to top form, get the biggest attendance in the football league rocking again and who knows what could happen - you might be posting your apologies quicker than its taken you to post your declarations for execution. It''s only December!

    Keep it low

  18. Not a particularly thoughtful and productive comment!

History is important because it is only through looking at where we have come from, how we did it and why we are where we are that we can properly assess our position and think about better ways of improving and helping our team than simply screaming SACK THE MANAGER.

  19. Morph, of course you are correct to feel angry with some of the performances because in the end of the day it is courage, committment and effort that fans want to see in the players they pay so much to watch. I think, however, that it is wrong to suggest that the players and manager ''blatantly throws that trust back in your face'' you seem to argue that the people inside the club don''t actually care about what they doing or how they are performing ... you cannot really believe this can you? We have to stop searching for scape goats, stop complaining because it''s so unfair that we had the opportunity to test ourselves in the Premiership and now we are back in the second tier and realise that these things happen in football. Players are human beings and in a League so dependent on momentum over talent we are suffering from problems that will not be solved by sacking the manager.

It is too easy to sack the manager and I don''t think that will solve anything in reality. Worthy doesn''t want to go, the board don''t want him to go, many fans don''t want him to go ... he''s not going so whether you like him there or not he is going to be there and we need to think about more effective, long lasting and intelligent ways to turn things around rather than take the easy and potentially more devastating option.

  20. Thank God some of the people who want to see Worthy leave have a rational and fair argument RH, I completely understand your viewpoint and thank you for some sensible and accurate comments. Sadly ("so what''s you''re relationship to worthless", "don''t read this message board") not everyone on your side of the debate shares your sense. Flippancy is a key indicator to a weak and poorly supported argument. I have no hidden agenda to back Worthington other than a belief that he is the man capable of turning things around and finally as a City fan I can make my frustrations heard on this board and perhaps if you don''t like reading messages that put forward a counter argument to your own viewpoint then maybe you shouldn''t read a message board which displays the views of lots of people?

  21. I wonder if I am a ''new newbie'' or not? Surely new blood and different views on a site like this are welcomed rather than put up for accusation (or is that the price for holding an alternative opinion to the bulk of the ''oldies''?). Perhaps there are so many ''newbies'' because some of us supporters are sick and tired of hearing unreasonable and unfair rants against a successful and honest management team? You don''t have to have blind faith to support the Norwich City manager you just have to have belief that he has the ability to motivate players, can attract individuals above the pulling power of our club (Hucks&Ash), knows what it takes and how to reach the Premiership and has the respect and trust of the players. Yes we are in a serious dip of form but so are Palace and they are just getting on with it and recognising that the best way, as football fans, that you can yank the club out of its slump is to show genuine passion, trust and support when the players and manager need it most.

  22. I do apologise if I have given a history lesson or written War and Peace but the reason for this is because I have been sitting still for weeks building up a frustration with how some people have leapt wildly and unfairly to the extreme. Most of the responses to my starter post are fantastic and reasonable posts. I have no problem with people having different opinions, I have no problems with anyone who wants to see the back of Worthy but what I do have a problem with is ridiculous and unfair rants. To say, for example, we were promoted ''in spite'' of Worthington is utterly way off the mark and I imagine/hope that you are saying that tongue in cheek.

People have valid reasons to want Worthy out but in the whole scheme of things his successes far outweigh his failures and a dip in form (which most teams including Wolves, Leicester, Palace, Saints go through post Premiership fall) is not a strong enough reason to break the successful and long term Worthington era. What do you want and realistically expect from Norwich City ... European football in two years?

  23. Having read the posts on this forum for a while now I am finally forced to contribute. I am utterly appalled at the ridiculous messages that have been put up for display over the past few weeks. As much as anyone else I am gutted about the abysmal performances this season (... the away game at MK Dons was truly the most depressing few hours I have ever spent at a football ground, being the first team to lose to Millwall away, losing horrifically to QPR, Stoke, Luton, Wolves, losing at home to Wednesday, having the most goals conceded away from home other than Crewe, the most away defeats in the League ...) seeing a team of such promise failing to show talent and, even worse, courage ... it is bleak bleak bleak.

However, I feel that the comments that some people have made about Nigel Worthington have been way off the mark. How can people merely brush aside a playoff final defeat on pens, the signings of Huckerby, Crouch, McKenzie, Safri and Ashton, being one point away from Premiership safety with the huffy sneer "he has taken us as far as he can" "his time is up" etc? This is appalling. Yes there are major problems that need sorting, yes we all pay a lot of our hard earned cash travelling half the way round the country, yes we may even lose some dream players in the future windows but when I am standing there singing "Never Mind the Danger" I mean it. I love this club with unquestionable but not blind faith. This is Worthy''s team ... he''s not going ... get over it ... get back to your computer games, where your ''I know better than a successful qualified football manager belief stems from and win the Champions League with Eto''o in a canary shirt and Maldini alongside Fleming (even though you probably don''t even play as Norwich and opt for a team well accustomed to constant moaning like Spurs&Wolves) and let a man who has proved he can do it prove you wrong (probably again).

Come on City ... three points against Crewe and a glimmer of pride revived.
