Wes, first things first I never patronised you, if you reread it you will see I was joking about exams meaning something, hence the ;)

you will then see that you go on to attempt to patronise me in your post by stating I work for a small local firm, when I infact don''t and I work for the 5th largest accounting firm in the UK.

You also state incorrectly that i dont know certain aspects of the situation, which in fact I do know.

So now thats out of the way...

your hypothesis is correct but it does not take into account any other factors merely the ones that support your argument, and you even state the various places money will come from thus destroying the argument that the club will go into administration. NCFC will never be forced into administration by the 2.5m loan recall. There are so many, and i mean SO MANY ways to get round it only a very mediocre businessman/director etc would end up getting the firm into such a position as to be forced to go into administration due to a 2.5m recall.

My argument in all this is that NCFC will not go into administration as a result of the 2.5m loan recall, and nothing more. And you seem to think I''m wrong? Do you think the government would force a football club at this time into admin over such a relatively small amount? especially after recent gov announcements that you should know about being in the trade.

Do you not think Delia would put in some money to stop the situation in the short term?

Do you not think Cullum would stay true to his word and donate the small amount needed to stop your disaster?

Do you not think some assets could be sold to stop the situation?

Do you really think a small amount of 2.5m will lead to such a large business'' downfall?

Are you on the NCFC audit team? This would certainly put you in an excellent position to comment.

I get my case result next friday so I certainly hope the exams aren''t all for nothing!

Reading through the posts, I have to say I tend to agree with Tipster, whilst it may be the case that none of us have the fall facts, it certainly seems he may know a lot more than most. As someone posted earlier the only factor that will push the club into administration is cashflow, whilst a £2.5m shortfall could lead the club to a position where it can''t meet it''s current obligations, it strikes me as unlikely given that this is something that can be planned for. Equally though, it is a gap that will need plugging in the long term, and if it has to be squeezed out of the club, (which I believe it probably could) whilst admin would be avoided we''d still be in a stinking mess.

I sincerely hope he''s not otherwise I would fear for his professional career without his reputation, haha!

I presume he works for Grant Thornton

  2.
Drury must play left back on Sunday - surely that is clear to see. Bertrand has not played well all season, and Drury has offered more in his limited pitch time there than Berty all season. This would leave Omozusi at centre back - something I would be quite comfortable with. Personally think he gets too much stick on here.
I have to say out of all the players this season, Omozusi has looked the poorest. It''s a shame cause the lad had real promise by all accounts and yes he''s young and being a defender you naturally get better with experience but for me this season he''s been a complete liability, though I can''t think of a centre defender that deserves to play there at the moment. Earlier on dejan and kennedy looked superb but even kennedy has looked shaky of late.]

On the subject of ''never say die attitude'' though blah, lee croft has really impressed me this season. He really does put everything into the game and for my money is our player of the season halve way in.

  3. Good arguments being put ''for'' and ''against'' in the court of pink''un here by tipster and superwes... firstly you''re both professionals in your own right, and there''s no need to argue with one another...

As for the actual topic raised, I firmly believe Norwich City Football Club will not go into admin., certaintly not in the short-term atleast (the next 12 months) unless of extraordinary events. However I would have to question whether the government would bail out a football club, although due to the economic benefits and leisure trade it has in the whole of norfolk we could be an exception to say Luton, Rotherham or smaller clubs in areas of high population (i.e London, Yorkshire).

I also doubt whether Delia does indeed have £2.5mill to rescue, nobody can possibly argue she doesn''t ''love the club'', but I believe she has put in as much as possible. This then leads to my final point. Peter Cullum (love him or hate him) has stated on record I believe that he would not let the club collapse if it reached such a poor state. He would obviusly only then buy the club at the cheapest possible price avalible to him rather then pay over the odds at the same time saving the club.

To draw a conclusion to my mini-essay, yes we are in a very poor finacial position with little assets left to sell or to secure against BUT we also have options should we need to raise the £2.5mill.

  4. Both of these players have looked completely out of their depth playing centre back as theyre simply not big enough, and neither have the experience or know-how positional wise to play centre-back...and all this along side mr doherty, who love him or hate him isn''t exactly mr reliabilityHowever after bertrand''s recently poor form, I would like to see Drury play left-back as he still does a decent job in his natural positionI''m not sure why GR keeps going on about how ''Clingan is too important for us to play there''...I''m sorry but you could stevie gerrard playing centre mid but it wouldn''t stop us leaking poor goals against counago/stead/haynes...He looks a better player at centre-back and he''s a holding midfield player anyway who rarely passes the ball forwardI would like to see the side that finished the match vs Palace, maybe putting russell on for fozzy, and having pattison initially starting on the left instead of bell just to give us a little bit more solidarity and compactness for the first halve or so in a hustle/bustle match like a derby

  5.
Villains

    Megson, for the own goal

Ulathorne/Gunn for that joke of an own goal
deary me ! how did I forget that rob ullathorne/gunn mix up...possibly one of the most embarrasing goals to conceed against your rivals of all time...and all infront of the itv cameras If i''m correct, what was that programme called?

  6. a point per matchroeder''s second season sydrome has kicked in once more, oh dear!anyone else got to that stage where you no longer feel angry about losing...you still want them to win and support them, but things have got to that point where you don''t really feel angry or surprised that we''ve lost.

  7.
Go away scummer. [:P]
Another fanstastically mature response there...yes the guy''s an ipswich supporter but at the same time he''s also an honest human being asking a simple, non-taunting question based on the fact that having played their already we should have some knowledge of the area...basiaclly chris there''s a massive tesco''s near by which you can park by but don''t wear colours and you should be fine.

  8. roeder is far too arrogant in my opinion (and others that have had informal chats with the bloke) to resign, but one of the posters suggested ''for sale'' signs...how funny would that be if say 20 people or more took them in...though you would be hard pushed to get them in, it would look great on the monday morning papers, whilst helping the supporters and club alike...what a pr stunt, even doomcaster would be proud!

  9.

We are a candidate that for sure - we should have enough to survive but then so should watford and charlton.   It does feel as if soton are particularly weak but we cannot rely on them and forest/donny to be worse than us - but thats what it feels like;   looking for 3 teams worse than we are...
Sums it up for me.  No one knows if we will go down or not but we are definately in the group of clubs who will be in a relegation battle at some point this season.  The table doesn''t lie, we are where we are.  We have lost more games at home than we have won and that''s ominous for any team. There is some cause for optimism, the Wolves game for example but the longer the season goes on it appears that performances like that are the exception and not the rule.
I too would echo this statement. I genuinly think we won''t go down because we do have enough quality to get the results at home in my opinion, unlike say donny and forest. I''m not sayin were too good to go down, there are many examples of that, I think were finish bottom halve

everyone is aware what hoolahan can do...he''s a tricky player that can twist and turn, inject pace into the game and pickout passes that the defence can''t see until it''s too late but then again because of his size he will and did get out-muscled by the big centre-defenders, so you can''t really play him in midfield with two strikers..
But he did ok early in the season in midfield with two strikers. The football we played against Coventry and Birmingham was far better than anything we have seen since. Including Wolves. I see where you''re coming from too though. But hand on heart I''d rather we had lost last night trying to play football like we did in those early season games.

I am often mystified by Roeders thinking and I am totally baffled why he hasn''t tried Lita\Lupoli as a front two when earlier in the season he was happy to go with Cureton\Lupoli and Russell\Lupoli. I am beginning to think the signing of Sibierski was the worst thing that happened this season. It''s certainly the worst thing for Hoolahan.
It just shows how long ago the start of the season seems doesn''t it nutty!, I had completely forgotten how well we played against birmingham with hoolahan behind the 2 strikers (I didn''t witness the coventry performance)..I remember now that some people''s worries at the time of signing ''ski were indeed that we would lose our passing momentum and instead play hoof  ball, how spot on they were!I''m not a fan of teams playing only 1 upfront (unless they have that striker e.g davies for bolton or anelka perhaps) but would lita/lupoli work?! I guess you don''t know unless you try, but knowing roeder away from home, he''s likely to play a 4-5-1....I just hope we operate the famous ''prudence'' policy and save money by getting rid of ''ski

  11. I think you could look at it two ways, yes from the norwich point of view there was a lack of movement..

but from a palace point of view the constant pressing was superb, something our midfield failed to do for the majority, classic warnock sides

  12. everyone is aware what hoolahan can do...he''s a tricky player that can twist and turn, inject pace into the game and pickout passes that the defence can''t see until it''s too late but then again because of his size he will and did get out-muscled by the big centre-defenders, so you can''t really play him in midfield with two strikers..

Last night I really was shocked why he started ''ski before hoolahan, were at home, he stated his intention to attack and we have a player who is supposed to like the physical side (although how many headers did he win?) rather then the technical side..in the first halve we didn''t get the ball to croft and semmy nearly enough and palace were excellent at pressing in midfield with carle and watson

Like someone else said the two squads are on a par with one another, sadly the managers are not..as frustrating as he is, it was superb management by warnock last night and I thought speroni had an excellent game, constantly aware making smart stops when needed

For Sheffield Wednesday we surely have to play 4-5-1, I would have kennedy and the impressive clingan at centre back (I actually believe he play better here rather then the rabbit in headlights drury), have drury at left back, russell and pattison in the centre, bell and croft on the wings, then hoolahan floating with lita upfront

  13. 7 games in and i''m 6th but I just can''t score goals! ...but i''ve only let in two...seeing as we don''t start with much funds, I sold marshall for a million and brought in ''Ian Walker'' for 140k, yep that old-timer but he''s superb, clean sheet after clean sheet....also bring in tordoya (150k) and mascio (22k) both superb players.I play a 3-5-2 formation with plastic and semmy as wingbacks, but does anyone know a decent striker? or the best striker that is with us at the start? I''ve got velicka and chopra on loan as well as sibierski, lupoli, koroma and sodje..but i cant get chopra scoring

  14.
It was like watching those who were giving everything for Norwich which included Marshall 9, Kennedy 7, Doherty 7, Clingan 9, Croft 8, Bell 7, Pattison 7, and Hoolahan, 7 whilst he was on the pitch.

Then there were those who didn''t look as though they were up for the fight which included Omosuzi 5, Bertrand 5, Lita 4, Otsemebor,5 and Fotheringham, 4.
Completely agree with this statement. The only one I would perhaps question is Lita who although didn''t seem to be able to control the ball / lay off the ball to another city player in the second halve must have been frustrated...It ain''t halve difficult playing upfront by yourself when you''ve lost your main link up player (hoolahan) especially when that''s not his game

  15. ...for me today Lee Croft was absolutely outstanding, yes he sometimes doesn''t look a natural footballer but his work-rate today was absolutely outstanding. For a player that perhaps struggles with his stamina for 90 minutes today he worked his heart out today tracking back and forth and running the ball out of danger. Anyone could see today he really wanted to play, the same also goes for clingan and for me these two deserve a special mention for the commitment and workrate you need when you go down to 10 men, long may it continue.

  16. just watched the first halve, so with those of you without tv coverage here''s a snapshot...
    • Doherty completely exposed to pace yet again, referee spot on with the red card and where the foul took place (the lino gave a penatly)
    • great response, clever ball from bell and tidy finish from pattison, could have easily blown it over
    • 2nd halve will be back to the wall defending without a doubt
    • omusnoozy absolutely woeful not big or strong enough to be a defender, if we were playing kevin doyle they would have had 4
    • marshall having a great game, 2 superb shots but just slipped for their goal otherwise a routine save
    • were lacking a tall, strong centre mid to get a grip of the game with lita huffing and puffing
    • croft looking good and energetic but both defensive units are appaling
not looking forward to the second halve, I have to admit

    • anyone that actually writes an honest un-biased opinion about the games
    •  those that can actually still spell in english (e.g not - wiv, shud, 2k8)
    • gets to the point fairly soon, and doesn''t just start a thread for the sake of starting one
    • those that have a life outside this forum
so i guess that rules out ''ct'' ''smudger'' and ''we8wolvesforums'' on a more positive note!..i enjoy reading ricardo''s and shack-attacks points and also other non-regular posters who put up their player ratings, always useful to read
