  1. Our campaign under Farke was doomed because of injuries. We were hit so severely in defence that we played 2 central midfielders there at Brighton, we had 3 goalkeepers on the bench against Man City.

We came up with a bright squad with potential and after the spurs Cup win there was something coming together, it may not have saved us but covid hit and those last 10 games we even had a very injured zimmerman play. We had so many things against us but we had players in their prime and best youngsters we have had for years.

We sold well and rebuilt a little in the championship, but bridges were burned clearly with Buendia and Cantwell and a number of players such as Dowell and Hughill took time to settle and we have found, again, they were not upgrades.

Gibson and, later in the season, Dimi came in. It began to look decent but glaring holes still needed to be addressed and a number of farkes original signings were likely to move on.

This season, the transfer strategy was to focus on the signings we really want and wait. It means less time to build a cohesive group, gambles did not materialise and we are in the relegation position because we are well short. Pukki and Krul have given us their best years but with no supporting cast to help can do little more.

We may have a few assets but we need to find a style of play, for next season this year we have looked so out of sorts.

But I would say the first season under Farke could have been very different with a long standing centre back pairing.

  2. If the players, coaching staff are not up for this game, then it is writing on the wall. There are no excuses we need to be at it for the entire game and many more to come. I have not seen a performance like that from this group, so it worries me.

So I expect a 2-0 with the players exhausted at the end of the game and giving 120%. When I watch AFL or NFL the feeling and visible body language each team has after a loss is so apparent. I want out team to show we do not want hurt and that we give everything to go and get out of this

  3. He had a decent chance in the first half as placheta and rashica bundled the ball to him to take strike at goal.

There was a lot of running and it was interesting to see rashica, placheta and puķki make forward runs either running offside or players missing the right ball. So the right things were being done and just not capitalised on.

Sargent had his chance where again he didn't put his foot through the ball. We need to get shots on target and shoot when the chances are there. We do not have the vision on buendia, vrancic or cantwell to slip in great balls. So we need to take shots early and try and wrong step the brentford defence and goalkeeper.

I do wonder with the players either side where he may be best now Idah is injured. Pukki needs chances to get some confidence but he hasn't quite clicked with the wider players. He is well marked and stewarded in this league, so we need someone to step up to take a little pressure away.

  4. I could have sworn on the radio at 1-0 down he had a chance, gilmor swept a good chance wide in the 1st half when it was 0-0.

We cannot afford to miss these chances, we need to be ruthless. It's like pukki and our strikers in the championship you may get 3 chances to score 1 goal. Here you get one, show some conviction!

I always recall Tevez and Suarez just striking the ball hard and first time at goal, our keeper was always not set and goals rained in. We need to do this in training and in games instead of the pedestrian football we see.

We need a performance and result in our next game, no excuses. In fact not just the next game, but each one from now. I want to see players flat out after a game, when you watch AFL, RFL, NRL and NFL each game really counts, after each game the result and performance is raw if lost. It doesn't feel the same here.

We need to sort it out

  5. This is the problem. As a team we have not had the strength, collective cohesion and belief to perform. It is so infuriating that we can win a very tough laegue to get to this point and we then cannot muster an attempt to stay up.

Yes recruitment is poor as we still wait for 2 defensive, athletic midfielders after 6 of 7 years but whatever squad we have had has thrown away games like today.

I will take that once in one of the best leagues in the world with masses of £ that we will be second best, but to see other promoted teams make a better effort is disheartening.

We have added players who can help but the void should not be so vast when as a collective we should give our all every game. It feels we do not, I want full commitment to get 3 points. It just feels unless the roll of the dice falls our way we won't get a win or even a draw.

In an ideal world Tzolis would be ready to step in. But as it stands, I would like to see Milot alongside Teemu and Giannoulis on the wing, if we are playing to win rather than not lose.

That is an interesting thought. If we did want 2 up top I could see that working if Josh is seen as a player out on the flank. Hadn't thought of that. It may not happen but worth a look if tzolis is not coming in.

Gutted for Idah and for our limited striking options.

  7. Yeah we have 1 loan spot from overseas, so we need a loan fee and wages and this could be our striker.

Defensive midfielder, it is interesting to see that Watford are picking up one for about £4million. If cantwell goes we need this player, lot of players and leagues out there; this is where we need to spend some of that money. The European leagues must have better players than McLean, rupp to sit alongside normann.

We need to be working to get them in and TBH if we do not add these positions then we are not providing the existing team with the integral parts we need. It will also lead to even further despondency from Norwich fans.

  8. We need funds to bring in players and the only way we are doing it is by selling cantwell. Well then it is a good move, as he is not pushing our starting 11 and he may make Newcastle a little bit stronger, but he has to get fit and TBH Newcastle are going to buy players now anyway. So why not make it a player not in our first 11 so we can bring a player in who will be in our first 11.

  9. Cantwell is a superb player, exceeded expectations after his season on loan in Holland. Many of us, myself included, were surprised he was not sent out on loan that season. But delighted he was here for that season as he showed he has plenty of promise.

Last season he joined the promotion team and again proved to be ahead of Dowell who surely was brought in to push him.

In a team like Liverpool he would obviously get better, with better players around him.

Who knows but if he goes this window then we get some money, maybe a little bidding war or Liverpool just get in early. We will see but if he goes I will be hopeful he makes a success as he undoubtedly has talent.

  10. What you need is consistency in partnerships, cohesion and luck.

Doesn't matter where you are in the football pyramid, as we know we lucked out with Pukki for example.

As football fans we have seen Norwich have a number of relegations and promotions; which means we have done a lot right but not been able to then take that next step. As fans we have seen it more than players and management.

As many have said the Defensive midfield position has not been addressed for over 7 years. We brought in Tettey from Rennes and he fitted the build but needed a little more of an engine and as we saw he did have fitness issues. He needed competition in that position and in fact an upgrade, it never came. Skipp came in and we all saw many of the traits we had been waiting for. We have needed at least 2 DM and never filled that position.

We needed to solidify the centre of our midfield this season meaning we were hard to break down. This is before the self funding model which is here to stay and means we have high turnover and solid pros who will make new partnerships almost every season with new additions.

Goals were needed and Dowell, Cantwell, Buendia needed help. Second striker was needed who could push on beyond Pukki this and next year. With Buendia moving on we needed these 2 to step up and new additions, rashica and tzolis are here with promise but I would have hoped Dowell and Cantwell showed more. Could they work with Gilmour maybe but we needed that solid defence and midfield, never got it and these 3 players have not seen their performances rise.

A lot of players who we thought would have made a step up, so far haven't and so we have all players performing poorly, we need at least 5-6 to play out of their skins to get results in the Premier league.

Money needs to be made available in Jan for a solidifying defensive midfielder and a goal scorer, recovery of Normann is imperative and our leaders to come forward. Byram really looked like a leader yesterday in amongst a shambles. We need serious grit.

The last prem season needed grit after the restart and we saw a team that was devoid of any grit. We need it now and players back ASAP.

  11. Disgusted.

Whoever they are, are filth. Hopefully they can track them down using ticket sales but also on the social media channels.

Name the filth who have targeted a young man who plays for this club and throw them out of anything associated with our football club.

  12. As many have said we really need and want this win. I want to see really high energy, direct running with ball, sharp passing and taking a pop at goal.

We need to be on the front foot early today and that also means after half time. We have a defensive shake up likely so for 90 minutes we will need to be on top form across the group to stop mistakes at the back.

I would love a 1-0 or 2-0 but if it is a win most likely 2-1. Pukki and possibly a double. But by god our midfielders need to start scoring if we are to win more games

  13. I have a work colleague who is a Watford fan and he has been very fair so far this season.

However one thing I have noticed is in their recruitment they have Brough in Dennis, who had really heard of him? Who thought in so many games he would be a catalyst or goal scorer? I do feel we are owed something from some of these new players. I do feel we are a total new team trying to find our way after promotion. I would not say it was the most slick promotion either, we weren't slick, we had a catalyst in buendia, but slick I would say no. There were times when we won games through graft, quality and taking the 1 in 3 chances we would get. In this league you have to take 2 of the 3 you get.

We have had 2 games in a row before today where we needed, in the game, to get 3 points and we need our players to up their levels.

Yes spurs away is not going to determine our season but every now a d then we need a result against a top team and we have to take those chances.

17th feels still a very long way off and personally I hope we have £ to spend as we should get a few players in who can help

  14. Krul

    Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams

    Gilmour, Rupp, PLM

    Cantwell, Pukki, Tzolis

I know McLean will play instead of PLM but for me this team is worth it, cantwell knows how to play with Pukki and for me is more of a threat than Dowell. So worth it for it for this game. Spurs will not have prepared for Cantwell

  15. The best thing about the draw was that we kept Newcastle from getting another 2 points.

It is disappointing that our chances against wolves didn't get us the result and that against Newcastle we could not muster enough shots to really trouble the keeper until the 2nd half. Even then we had great chances to put the game away and we didn't take them.

This is that run of games to get us back in contention and we are just about there but could gave been further up the table. We are learning, adapting and have new leadership that can steer us onwards. I believe we will be stronger for this run and that we need another win soon so that we consistently pick up points and wind throughout the season, just ticking over.

It just feels great opportunities missed and that we are learning a lot about some players. Let's hope thise that have missed some girl winning chances, rupp and PLM do not miss any other chances that fall at their feet

  16. A win tomorrow is huge, Newcastle may have a bounce at some point but can we go in to a big stadium with a vocal crowd and make them turn on their team with an early goal?

We can stay up, the bottom half is congested and injuries, bad form can all happen to others. But shock results can also happen and we need to take care of business. It does feel we had the chances to beat wolves and we didn't take them. We have to take them. So a big game Tuesday and then let's get more fight, be greedy and be more decisive. It can happen but we need to win that relegation league and we need to become clinical, if we don't we will have missed opportunities like the wolves game.

  17. A whole week of Shakey and Deano leading the way, a solid win against soton when so many players had been away on international duty. They will be concerned that they will not know how we will set up.

I know our expectations for the season are low with hope that we find a groove or players rise up. Can the new manager find that, it is possible. We need to be more fearless in the way we challenge the opposition, make decisive decisions in tackles, blocks and shots. We have a run of games here that we need to get results from. A draw is good but we can step it up and push for that win, we need sins to stay in this league and we aren't playing a Liverpool so we should go for it

  18. I think there is more cohesion in this group than 4 weeks ago and hopefully now the group can take forward some new ideas collectively.

I agree the press has been poor at times and we have been stretched, so a more compact team. I agree that attacking with pace can be our outlet, rashica, tzolis, pukki, placheta* and Todd can all breakaway at pace and with gilmour and normann spraying the balls about that can work.

Certainly need to have that defensive base to be able to do that, so I do expect the full backs to stay back a bit more.

    * I do think placheta can have some impact, he has pace to burn and if he has recovered from covid then if he is on the bench and proven himself in training then he is an outlet in that group.

  19. We knew that our strategy this transfer window was to wait and negotiate to get the right players in, it has been noted by farke and Webber. It did however run the risk of those players not being ready for prem football and also redefining our style.

The first team squad, let alone first 11, is very different and needed a shake up from last year as our bench needed players who could perform in the Premier league.

I think we can get better performances and I think we will see the experience of Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare in the team. I don't think we have played our best or even better football yet. I hope cohesion comes quickly. I think we look to win the mini league, we have to start strong in the next 3 and take points off some of those teams to be in touching distance. If in January we are in touching distance I would expect a player or 2 to come in and then who knows. If injuries come to haunt us then we may fall short but we can stay up but we need a lot of things to now starting kicking into action. Cantwell, Gilmour and many others need to lift their games and let's have a go at this.

  20. All depends how Hanley is if he is out then a back 4 comes into play

    Krul

    Aaron's, kabak, Omobamidele, Dimi

    Sorenson, Norman,

    Rashica, Gilmour, Tzolis

    Pukki

This is very, very forward thinking but it would be great to have tzolis, rashica playing with freedom. Against a brentford team with injuries it could be the perfect time to get them having a go!

So many changes, it won't happen.

If we want to be a bit tighter then PLM for Gilmour dropping back to a 4-3-3. With Tzolis and Dimi having previously Marshall the left side at PAOK can they do it for city

Again it won't happen, I just hope Pukki has creative players and direct players next to him.

It sounds a bit too much like 2016, can't see that happening again.

Yeah could be true, but if a new manager comes in that has a bit of nous about relegation scraps then maybe.

As said clutching at straws as I can only see us either with a new manager by January or in and amongst the relegation scrap at best. I cannot see us floundering at the bottom with Farke in January. But then again... maybe we will
