We need to get smart before next season. If teams are as 'professional' as Bmuff we always seem to struggle, getting drawn into sendings off, losing our composure, etc.. Yes Bmuff are a grubby little bunch of cheats, but they know how to get under the oppositions' skins, as do most PL teams.

And here is the issue we need to prepare for next season. We need more experience.

  2. The club does have a choice and that is to simply do without these players at Preston.

Earlier this season we had similar issues due to injuries.

We are in a position to take a risk with one result but not yet to lose the likes of Pukki for weeks should he be injured; and they can all come in fresh for the next game whereas we could get two under par games in a row from them if they have no rest.

We can put out a side to give Preston a game, the only issue is a lack of match time for some of the replacements.

  3. I am confident Farke can coach the faults out of Emi. I also believe the phlegmatic Pukki is a major influence on him.

He has developed considerably this season in term of his personality. He will not lose but channel his passion.

If he can do this, blend discretion into his brilliance he will become a 90m player.

  4. After requiring a rare rocket from Farke Emi has gone on to have his best season. We all appreciate his attributes.

But he still hasn't full eradicated the flaws which hold him back.

The poor discipline is still there and it will be exploited at a higher level, he has improved and is passionate, not nasty, but it still needs work.

I don't want to see him over emphasising his frustration when he doesn't get the pass he deserves, or a colleague makes a mistake. I know his standards are high but he needs to contain it and this leads to his main issue.

Emi cost us a lot of goals in the EPL when he lost the ball and remonstrated when he should have been working back. A player like him is entitled to the odd error and grievance at not being protected by officials but he cannot stand around protesting.

He did this yesterday. Ince got free and his cross almost  put us an early goal down. You could see Emi realised he had arm waved too long and tried to get back but his lapse almost cost us.

He has clearly added a lot more strength to his game and, apart from free kicks, is an incredible player but he still has areas to improve to be an EPL player or an International.

  5. Our problems in the EPL are largely a lack of physicality. If we sell a couple of our best players we need to buy size and athleticism because that is what the EPL is all about.

As good as he is technically I wonder whether Emi has the temperament or the physical presence. He was poor last time, constantly dispossessed, left on his backside waving his arms and giving goals away.

Slight irony that "hucks6" was the poster that started this thread. Not sure the actual Hucks will be particularly mourning him.

Why wouldn't he? 65 is no age. He was someone we knew because of his connections to our club and this is sad news for his family.

  7. I don't think it is widely appreciated just how short of money Premier League Clubs are. Barcelona couldn't finance buying Max up front either.

Norwich did well to get what they got for Lewis and Godfrey, who are themselves playing in matches at the buying clubs. Ben Godfrey got himself a particularly good move.

For the likes of Burnley the EPL money is the biggest percentage of their income but for the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, with huge revenues from matchday packages, meals, tours, sponsorships, events and lounges the lockdown has cost a lot of money. But the wages are the same and clubs budget to the maximum on wages so it will hurt.

On top of this, I understand China will stop taking SKY televised EPL matches soon if not already and they have paid a lot of money for it in the past. The next deal from SKY will be much lower.

And, the final big problem on the horizon is travel bans. The public will not much longer tolerate footballers travelling for European club matches and without that revenue the top six will suffer.

This is the biggest levelling up of the financial playing field for decades. But the absence of crowds has seen the clubs with the best players do well and those like Sheff Utd, who rely on home support to bridge the talent gap, doing badly.

For the likes of Aarons and Buendia they are likely to be first choice in an EPL side next season anyway. Long term, I fear both, along with other Norwich players, might lack the physicality for the EPL which is going the same way as Rugby Union.
