  2. Alex, my condolences as well. I''m travelling up to the game with my Dad on Friday, and we''re having a bit of a debacle about timings etc (I live in Derby and am travelling 2 hours in the wrong direction on Friday night to Worcester to travel back in the opposite direction again). I was getting a bit annoyed with the whole situation and considering just sacking the idea off and getting the train up on Saturday morning, but your post has given me a clear perspective on it. I will deal with the hassle and sort it one way or another so I can travel up with him.

I sincerely hope we give the scum a good kicking, and do all of us, especially your Dad, proud.

  3. I''ve been trying to get hold of some of the tacky 90s GK shirts recently (I play in goal at 5 a side). Managed to snag myself one from a sports shop that have found some in the stock room (If anyone has any more let me know - I''m looking for the stupidly colorful/patterned ones of the Gunn era in a Medium or above).

I have definitely seen one or two of the shirts you''re after whilst I''ve been browsing, looking for the GK shirts, I will check back through the sites and see if I can find one for you.

  4. Yeah that''s the one I''m thinking of Mr Angry - loads of screens and accomodating bar staff who will find the game for you. They have one of those super-satellite things which have all the channels so they will definitely be able to get it for you.

I don''t remember it being particularly expensive, but given the area is so touristy nearby then I suspect you may be right.

  5. Bor, not sure if this is a serious question, but I was fortunate enough to live in Turkey for a while and know Istanbul pretty well. If it clashes with a Prem game (not checked if it does) then there''s only one place in central Istanbul that you can rely on to show it, which is a Sports Pub just down from SultanAhmet (the tourist square with the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia on it)

It''s opposite a tram stop called Gulhane. If you head towards the Basilica Cistern (worth a visit by the way) which is basically directly left of Hagia Sofia as you look at it, about 100 yards away. It''s signposting is pretty poor, but if you ask anyone they will be able to direct you easily. You need to go down the road Basilica Cistern is on (you should pass Basilica Cistern on your left hand side), and take the second road (third if you include the little dead end you will pass) on your right (Alaykosku Cadessi is the name of the road). Follow that road, and bear left when it splits in two. Gulhane tram stop is in the middle of the road, and on your left you will see a pub with an English name (maybe The North Shield but not sure on that).

They are a sports bar, and if they are not showing the game, they will put it on for you if you ask them. They did it for me for the Wolves game last August.

  6. Turkish fans are unbelievable. They make every game a real intimidating event.

Booing every time the opposition have the ball, and doing that for the entire game, constant singing etc etc.

Of course the throwing stones at team buses etc is not to be condoned but the atmosphere in their stadiums is immense, every game is like a cup final.

  7. No idea Nuff Said, but it makes the games far more interesting. They''re also a lot less susceptible to being fooled by diving over there, the ref just tells them to get up and get on with it. Got a lot of respect for turkish refs to be fair, they generally do a good job, get most decisions right and don''t take any nonsense.
