I actually think that he did pretty well for the most part, ok, he got sat down for the opening goal but he made some good interceptions and challenges and got away with a fairly obvious block when he (Raphinha) would have been away.

The decision not to penalise Andrew for that block was extraordinary :). I was in the S Stand and it was blatant.

To me, Leeds' plan was to isolate Raphinha on Onabamidele. AO was excellent, and his performance will have alerted the football world to his excellence.

  2. Call me old-fashioned, but what person searches the personal photos of someone when they were 12 or 13, in an attempt to undermine them? It's not acceptable behaviour in my book.

Are we not better than that?

Yeah thats fair, I quoted you as you happened to be the last one I saw.

A bit of gentle ribbing is fine but I think some are using it as more than that, usually people who didn't like TNC in the first place.

  3. Those who know, know.

I suspect that Jack is sufficiently close to just one or two of the players to have knowledge of certain situations within the club at the moment, and this has coloured his opinion. What he doesn't know, and equally I don't know, is Farke's side of the argument. And equally he doesn't know who is right and who is wrong. Jack may also know that one or two of the players think that Farke is being a ****, an opinion to which they are entitled.

  4. I rarely watch this Youtube channel as I have in the past been irritated by its self-satisfaction (largely not Jack's fault). But I have just spent 15 minutes listening to the most recent posting, calling for Daniel to be dismissed. I expected to be annoyed by it and was mindful that Jack went anti-Farke once before, round about the 1-1 draw at Ipswich.

Jack's a young journalist with a pleasant broadcast persona, unavoidably influenced by the milieu in which he operates and the strident fan voices he hears, which mostly will be uninformed, immature and without due context. Ie today's social media.

BUT, after that less than glowing introduction, I have to say that I agreed with virtually everything Jack said and applaud the way he reasoned his argument - the magnificent display by Onabamidele, the overly harsh treatment of Gilmour and Cantwell for denting Daniel's pride, the slowness of Krul to get the ball moving, the lack of shape in midfield on Sunday. I disagree on Sargent and thought that Rashica looked a player on Sunday, for the first time. But that can be turned into a criticism as whereas Leeds isolated Raphina on Onabamidele, we never tried to reciprocate at the other end. (It hurts to think about what Raphina would have done to Gibson).

The only thing missing from Jack's comments was recognition of the size of Daniel's task, and due regard for the sensitivity of even talking about dismissing a very human character who has done so much for us. With Jack's size of audience I would never feel comfortable doing it.

So with a heavy heart I have to say that Jack is almost undoubtedly right and that his reasoning is sound. (A dismissal might remove one problem but of course it creates another).

As a sideline, I looked at the figures sitting behind Daniel on Sunday and for the first time realised the extent to which Daniel is on his own, for better or worse.

I could understand it if Daniel is given three more games, but the expression 'hoping against hope' has never been more apt. Equally, a gentlemanly parting would not disappoint me. These are sad times.

Skipp has struggled for Spurs although has had one or two very good performances. Other than that, whoscored has him as the 14th best player for Spurs this season.

I actually don't think he would have made much of a difference for us. We need a physically bigger,  stronger defensive midfielder who also helps out in the air. That would also make it easier to drop McLean whos our only central player capable of winning balls in the air.

I often find myself agreeing totally with your assessments. Not sure what that proves!

In this case, we would make great use of Skipp, but a Sissoko type might be more influential. I remember vaunting Sissoko's value a couple of years ago.

The problem with the Prem is that everyone, coaches and players, are just so damn good and I can see that a team with the right players at its disposal can exploit the weaknesses in just about anyone.

The this afternoon is whether the respective players are going to battle harder for Daniel or Bielsa. That's what my focus will be on during the game.

I have said for years he is a wrongun and I am yet again proven to be correct

Such a wrong 'un that the club quoted £40m for him in the summer and wouldn't budge. That's how highly they rate him. Rest assured, you will probably be proved wrong. Hard times, admittedly.

This is clearly Webbers biggest challenge. He meeds to show the guts to accept that Farke's time is done. He has probably got too friendly with the coach, but is he a man or a wimp?

'Is he a man or a wimp' is social media in a nutshell.

Yes, Daniel has lost his way. For whatever reasons his man management has failed him and failed this group of players. Maybe he is right and they are wrong. Maybe individual treatment of players has been correct. Maybe not.

Daniel continues to say what he continues to say, in the way he continues to say it, and it doesn't work with this group of players. But Daniel is who he is. His voice is his voice  his style is his style.

But to suggest that ditching him is a matter of bravery is wrong. Stuart Webber needs to assess the Risk. Then have a succession plan. Then consider the mechanics. Then go through the difficult decision making process and if he gets a thumbs up, proceed. And yes, at every stage he may be hurting as he is terminating the immediate career of someone he respects and who may be a friend. In a working career of a number of decades I have only come across two flawed  people who enjoy sacking people.

It deserves more than being reduced to 'wimp' or 'not a wimp' summary.

  8. Too many Ipswich followers on here masquerading as Canaries, to even make it worth contributing to. We do the same on their forum. I would be amazed if some major critics are not an ITFC ST holder. Why else would he come on here trying to be destructive?

Stuart Webber stayed in town tonight working on Canaries business It's what he does, and he does it rather well. He does not manage the team and he generally sorts out other peoples' problems rather than causing them.

Sargent had a poor goal scoring record in Germany and yesterday showed why. He may be a useful player to have around due to his workfare etc but he is not going to score enough goals at this level to justify being one of only two attacking players in the side.

And as recently as 2018 Toney was loaned out to S****horpe for half a season. S****horpe!

Sargent is getting into some half decent positions and his size and physicality are a real asset even against top defenders. Let's see how it develops. The big disappointment yesterday was that we sacrificed creativity for battling.in midfield and that the three 'dogs of war' in the middle sat off a little too deep. Farke needs to find a way to get Cantwell back into it, then we might look like a viable Premier League side.

People keep talking about the £58m we've spent this summer (although that is gross of course, as £37m came in).

But our mistake was not finding the additional £2.5m to sign Toney over Hugill last summer. From Peterborough as well, a local team who have been a reliable source of young talent for us in the past... Drury, Bennett, McKenzie for a start.

£2.5m rising to £5m upon promotion for Hugill, or £5m rising to £10m upon promotion for Toney.

I'm sure somebody will come along and simply argue that the club couldn't afford the additional £2.5m last summer, and of course we couldn't have foresaw Covid-19, but it is a bit depressing when you realise that the summer before we allegedly spent £2.7m in loan fees for Ralf Fahrmann alone despite all accepting we had no chance of survival, and that loan fee would have covered the difference in up front payment.

Alternatively, we could have just bought Toney instead of Hugill and the Polish De Waard. Both useless and a million light years away from being Premier League standard, the Polish lampost offered nothing last season and we'd have coped just fine without.

You do realise that Sargent is performing far better than Toney was, when at the same age? Or has this detail escaped your attention?

He clearly has a wonderful attitude and no shortage of ability, which gives him every chance of being a success.

It was easy yesterday to grab hold of the negatives - Sargent's horrible miss when he panicked, Normann's 3 near post corners to McClean which were a few centimeters away from being perfect etc etc - but the reality is that there were encouraging signs, and Sargent's continued development was one of them. Did you notice that he a Pukki were required to press 4 defenders across the width of the pitch? Do you know how hard that is?

Living in Bolton, let me tell you that you have to really incentivise a trip to Wigan. 😉 If Perseus came from Bolton or Wigan, he'd laugh at the notion that Medusa would turn him into stone with a glance as let's face it, there's no bloody way she's uglier than half the folk here at least!

They may not be oil paintings, but in all seriousness I think Wiganers are some of the best people on earth. I have met a couple of them nursing in hospitals, probably 8 or 10 at work, two or three through football. I have been saying for years that Wiganers are great people. A small selection admittedly.

The funniest conversation I ever overheard also featured Wiganers. It was in the sauna at the Thistle Hotel at Haydock, and in one corner we had Warrington old boys arguing that their pies were best, and in the other corner, Wiganers, convinced that their pies were best. Classic comedy, sheer Monty Python.

Ugly or not, they are good people 🙂

Pure speculation, but I'm beginning to wonder whether he has made it clear that he has no intention of signing another contract.

Cantwell has trained all week, and was training in the days leading up to Burnley so could have been available at a pinch. He will be available to play on Saturday if needed, subject to circumstances beyond his control.

Sorry, but I find the speculation a bit nauseating. There are on occasions some things more important than football.

Real Buh is right though. Social media is a toxic cesspit

Well, yes it can be. Doesn't have to be if you use it judiciously.

But, back to the conversation. When Fashanu came out, gay people in general and Justin in particular were insidiously  pilloried, ridiculed, belittled, and vilified by newspapers like the Mail, Express, and the Bible of the masses, The Sun. I don't know how toxic social media can be now, but back then it was evil and influential in equal measure.

But times have changed. In pre-season this year Richard Kone, a young gay player from Abidjan, trialled and played for Colchester United and then was invited in by Brentford. Work permit issues vould not be resolved, so he is now back at Athletic Newham, playing well below his level.

The point is, it's all very natural to him and happily his attitude reflects how most youngsters view variations in sexuality. There will be those who try to stoke the issue, but they will become increasingly irrelevant.

If he’d come out swinging haymakers in a vague attempt to punch it it’s different but he really just holds his arms out straight. The bulk of the momentum in the contact comes from the speed Vydra comes into it at.

You can tell from Tim's immediate reaction that he thought a penalty was going to be awarded.  It was a guilty reaction.
