Of all the recent news, this has the most serious repercussions.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68921215
Warmer seas mean more ice melt. More ice melt means higher sea levels and more water in the atmosphere and more rain.
As ice melts it releases more methane and Co2 which in turn increases the rate of warming.
A lot of the solutions to our problems are already there but a combination of weak political will, cost incentives, lies spread by those with an agenda mean we are heading down a deep dark hole to an unsustainable future.

His comments could also be viewed as advice to McKenna to move on after tomorrow. 😁

We had three great years with him as manager. Obviously something left him with bitterness but regardless best to remember the 3 great seasons.

It’s the worst part of football these days, abuse of officials. It happens week in week out on tv at the highest level and the game seems fearful of sorting it out.
-
All it will mean is that average EPL players will want more money whereas the top players will effectively find their salaries capped.

The real winners are the teams with mega-rich owners who are prepared to pump money in.
Newcastle, with seemingly unlimited funds, will now be able to take their spending to this limit and be genuinely competitive at the top end of the table.
Forest, for example, would be allowed to invest considerably more than they already have and still not be close to breaking the rules.
I suppose the losers are actually the teams in the big six and those without incredibly wealthy owners, as they will probably see the teams below and around them spend more.
So by those stats it would make no difference at all to those in the lower half other than encourage more and more super billionaires to buy football clubs.

VAR is a solution to a problem that never was. It’s there to create controversy and social media discussion. That’s what TV and the money men want.
but it’s destroying the spirit and enjoyment of the live sport.- 1

And suddenly we are the in form team of all the top six!

But when they are losing 5-0, 6-0 maybe go on to beat their own record and go for a 10-0. That will be hilarious.

Conceding goals from set pieces is damned annoying. It's even more annoying when you take one of your taller players off and leave 2 of theirs unmarked at the back stick.
Cloud cuckoo land is thinking we will ever have a competitive team in the EPL.
-
Because we didn't have any money to do so.
Football is not like FIFA24 where money just drops out of the clouds.

Does anyone really want to be back in the EPL, winning 5 games all season and getting hammered week in week out? Its not entertaining, its not fun and makes me lose interest in football.
I would rather we had a proper plan that might take two or three seasons but with a team that might be able to compete.

I can't see he would turn down even being assistant at United if the new owners see him as the next manager. Its a whole different game in the EPL and how would their current squad cope with it?
-
I don’t think Leeds can have had many 3pm Saturday games this season.
Sunday games are awful. At least we don’t have to suffer those very often though all EPL games will be that soon. -
Way too passive. Leicester were not great but we didn’t seem like we wanted to give them a game.

2 hours ago, chicken said:I think it's more to do with not really having a national identity other than the hangover from colonialism still.
By that I mean that up until things went seriously south in India, colonial era politics applied at home as well as abroad. Ways to unite and control people and to deflect blame for the crappy conditions the working class lived in whilst serving the aristocratic elite.
Our national anthem is a reflection of that in many ways and is why so many, for decades, have been questioning its relevance.
This is spot on.
A National Anthem should inspire the people in the Country, not be a paean to an outdated and very divisive and class ridden institution like a monarchy.
There is a very good reason that many National Anthems are about the struggle for freedom and independence.

even more so if you found out it was invested in the blue lot down the road. 😁

Football as a whole is ultimately going to down the pan when the money runs out.
It seems the whole western world is obsessed with debt and kicking the can further down the road. One day there will be a judgement day.

They clearly have some very astute businessmen over there doing a sterling job. Rather than our own global business experts on here trying to pick holes we should be hoping we can het similar investment and management try build a similarly glorious history.
We come across as a bit envious, desperate and sour. It's a shame, we're better than this.
'Astute businessmen' but not football businessmen.
Out to make a quick profit at minimal outlay and then **** off to the next project. That's how private equity firms work.
-
Southgate at Man Utd next season should be a laugh....as long as you are not a United fan.
Are they determined to get relegated? I guess at least they might win most weeks in the Championship.
-
Bear in mind private equity firms don't work for nothing. They usually charge a fee for the 'investment' work they might do.

And anyone who pays £125 for a shirt that probably cost £5 to be made by a child in Bangladesh wants to have a serious word with themselves.

I'm quite patriotic but it doesn't bother me a great deal, but I get the argument that if it was done to certain other countries there would be outrage and the more I hear people pushing that I can feel me start to feel that anger.
However, as a design I quite like it. It's not supposed to be a flag but a homage to it, isn't it? i.e. when have we ever had a flag on the kit to start with? The identification has always been the four lions from what I can remember.
Edit: Just had a look online at old kits and this come up from 2010, why was there no outrage then? Is it because we hadn't all turned into arseholes trotting around americanisms like 'snowflake', 'woke', and 'butthurt', perhaps?
It wouldn’t happen with other countries because the mistake would never have occurred in the first place.
Funny how we are the United Kingdom when it suits and England when it doesn’t.
I have no interest in international football unless it’s a World Cup or Euros. And even then I am probably the least patriotic Englishmen out there.

Very bland. Much like the way Southgate’s England play.

Does that mean they can have a golden glittering turd on their shirts?
