I’ll be going for a run. A very long run. Can’t be doing listening to the Sky love in for Ipswich.

You don’t know how bad it might get yet..

Would snap your hand off for that

As has been rumoured I was Knapper's number one transfer target for January so this obviously blows a real hole in his plans to bring down the average age of the squad...
Can’t miss what we didn’t have.. but intriguing all the same.

Was he?
Surely it was Krul.

I’ll never forgot them waving money at Carrow Road after the evans takeover, and they’re absolute pleasure at our downfall in 2009 when they last beat us, near enough sealing our fate of relegation. I’ve often thought during our 14 year run that’s karma for you.
I’d like to think, in the main, we as Norwich fans haven’t directly over egged our success. Even the play off semi final, which has to be the greatest East Anglian derby moment, we focused more on ‘us’ and celebrating our success.
They’re absolutely baying for us Saturday. Our supremacy has hurt them and their ‘proud history.’ Perhaps our more humble attitude will be rewarded for a bit longer still. Here’s hoping anyway!

I thought that too.. and actually the touch to set himself up before, was very decent. It wasn’t as easy chance as being suggested IMO.

Gibbs too…. 😏

I watched the other lot on Tuesday and was totally, and quite pleasingly underwhelmed. Watford looked to have the more talented set of players and should have beaten them. Confidence and spirit appear to have put points on the board for them. I actually think man for man we also have a more talented first 11, Tuanzebe perhaps being an exception.
Jonny Rowe is gonna be the hero, good to see he's fired up and a little bit of our own confidence could swing it.
Amazing how we see things differently. I thought they always looked like scoring.. and the way the attacked at speed and created overloads was very impressive. Watford looked good at times, but I think they’re a team of individuals, and that unpredictable aspect gave them some good opportunities, but always felt Ipswich had control.
Anyway, love to see this from Rowe. We need more of it.

I can’t remember any league or cup game in the last 20 years where the Barclay or River end uppers have been closed?!

They took a huge number of pot shots that were easily blocked. Despite 21 shots they had a lower xG than us.
You're just sad your 10 point estimate between October and January has been blown out the water 😅
Hardly blown out the water. And a prediction much closer to reality than what you were saying at the time I made it. I essentially predicted our form would drop off a cliff when Barnes got injured, which happened. You couldn’t see the warning signs, fair enough. It was a majority view. Few of us just have that ability to assess things more objectively - I’m sure you’ll get there, if you keep trying really really hard… 😉
Anyway, I didn’t watch the game. I was simply asking the question if that metric aligned with performance.. obviously it isn’t always the case, but i hazard a guess it’s a key metric that often does align with the better side.

I think 2001/2002 was pretty much full from the start? I remember a good vibe after the Libra Man City winner.. we had a cracking home record and terrible away.

Possibly the Roeder season, otherwise 2000/2001 season.

Stats suggest Wednesday the better side? 21 shots to our 12. Anyway, decent 3 points against a team on form. We’re still getting battered on Saturday though! And a tough run coming up.

Let’s face it, would be our luck if he was out injured!

Just now, raunds canary said:I love your optimism but surely we need 2 decent centre backs ,a CDM and at least 1 decent striker
Sargent solves the striker requirement. I think we need that long awaited CDM, and another attacking midfielder in the mould of a Hoolahan, Maddison, Pritchard, Buendia type.
I think we have enough at the back. It’s the lack of movement and abillity to hold the ball further up the pitch that puts us under a load of pressure.

After this game, we’ve got a really tough run. Could easily not get another point till mid Jan.

Gunn, Stacey, Fisher, Dimi, Sara, Nunez, Sainz, Rowe, Idah, Sargent all have a place in a team chasing promotion. A few others like Gibbs, Mclean and Gibson could play a role. But the squad is so badly assembled and used that it looks much worse than it is. A proper holding midfielder to let Nunez and Sara play further forward, just one central defender who is comfortable on the ball could make the world of difference but I don't trust Wagner to use them properly.
Agreed. I made the point after the Preston game, we’re probably only two signings off having a really good side. (And a better coach)
-
If we sort ourselves out and play with more urgency, we’ll win this comfortably.
I think he needs to bring Gibbs or Forshaw on for one of the front 4, and push Sara up. He won’t though, obviously.

Ipswich Predictions
in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Posted
100%, sadly.
Ipswich are 2nd in the table (breaking records for points), have the best current form in the league and are formidable at home. In contrast, we’ve not beat any side in the top six, and only two in the top half this season. Our form in terms of results is decent, but we’ve not produced a convincing performance since Huddersfield back in August. We’ve had our fair share of luck in the last 4 weeks too, and needed it.
Nothing logical points to a Norwich result tomorrow. Form goes out the window for a derby? Well it hasn’t for the last 14 years we’ve played them.
It’s not defeatist or cowardly to recognise that the odds are massively stacked against us. The shift in supremacy has been frightening. Tomorrow, and this season generally, has the hallmark of Lamberts Champs season. We were never losing that first game at Carrow Road. Never. It’ll be the same for Ipswich tomorrow.
