Gingerpele 0 Posted September 12, 2011 WBA 5 on target, 12 off target.Chelsea 5 on target, 3 off targetStoke 7 on target, 2 off targetWigan 3 on target, 10 off target. (All BBC stats)So over 4 games we have had 20 on target, with 27 off target shots. Considering against Stoke we were a man down for 30 mins, and didn''t really do any actual attacking, Chelsea are an extremely solid defensive side, and we played half an hour a man down against them as well, and Wigan were the home team so expected to create more chances. We have had a decent amount of efforts, but why have we only scored 3 form 47 shots? Its probably not the worst goal to shot ratio, i''m not sure really how many shots teams have in a game in general, BBC stats seem off to me, but still...I think its mostly down to most of the efforts not coming from strikers. In the match day programme yesterday, i''m fairly sure it said Bradley Johnson has had the most shots for us this season. And then Crofts had at least 4 shots from outside the box that were all rubbish. While i don''t think Martin had a shot at all, and Holt only had one that i remember. Morrison from memory has only had a couple of (very good) chances, Vaughan had a shot yesterday, and i''m not sure how many chances the strikers had in the other two games, but don''t think it was all that many. With Vaughan or Jackson up front, i think they may get more chances themselves, and being strikers you would hope they could convert a decent percentage of them. Would putting one of them upfront with Holt against Bolton solve the problem? (assuming we have a similar number of chances...)
