It's The Positive Prediction League!

Recommended Posts

Good morning!

Bearing in mind it''s a Saturday, and (being several time zones away) I always get on the board before many of you are up, I''ve tried to stave off the Board Boredom Syndrome this morning, and have conducted a mini Prediction League Survey.

Now, with so much talk this year of glasses half full/empty, keeping the faith and/or the (much more frightening) realism, I wondered just how much faith the teams in the Prediction League actually have in our Super Yellers.

I must admit a certain bias in my methodoloy at this point, since I haven''t myself predicted a negative result for City this year.  (If you ever see me in Norwich, you can spot me by my rather large Yellow & Green coloured Specs).  And the results of my survey reveal that my team, Flick Thistle is currently leading the Positive Prediction League Table with 22 points, and 0 negative predictions!  Hooray for me!

Of the 19 teams above me, a total of 161 negative predictions have been made - ie, give or take 8 per team.

(As you can see, I have too much time on my hands this morning...)

The current leader for the Negative Prediction League is Billy Bob, in 13th place with an impressive 19 negative predictions from 24 games - including 12 in a row!  Go Billy Bob!

So, the conclusions of my survey?  The top 20 Prediction League teams are, on the whole, a positive bunch - most teams have predicted less than the 11 games we have really lost.

But it must pain them to let their head rule their heart and put down those negative predictions, no?  It is so easy for me to day dream all those wins and draws - my heart is happy.  And let us not forget that 20th place for my Flick Thistle is still damn good anyway.

QED: Positivity Pays.

We own our own squad number.  It is not our right to have it.  We earned it.  At this time in our season we need to prove even more that we deserve to keep it.  We must not lose heart and hang our heads when we go down.  We must keep strong and play our part.  I hope you all sing your hearts out for the lads at FCR this afternoon.

keep it low...
