Snoots 0 Posted March 8, 2010 "I think Paul Lambert has come in and done a fantastic job and turned the whole club and the whole ethos and the way that they think around. This is a totally different team, commitment - and character-wise, to the one we played at our place when we drew 3-3, so all credit to him and good luck to them in the future."But that was on 12th December ! Lambert had been in charge almost 4 months by then . Indeed, four months earlier, under Bryan Gunn, we beat Yeovil at their place 4 - 0. I''m not questioning for one moment what Lambert has achieved but amused by Skiverton''s poor grasp of recent history. I went to both matches at Yeovil. In the first match at the Glovers on Aug , after an understandably cautious approach in the first 45, our team played scintillating attacking football in the second half and literally swept Yeovil aside with three excellent goals and a pen. Four months later, I watched a Norwich team concede 3 goals against a Yeovil team which was clearly more hungry and committed than our lot who only seemed to wake up when Yeovil took the lead. Canary Man of Kent 0 Posted March 8, 2010 lol I was amused by this too. Oh well, I never complain when a manager says after the game that simply, we were better than them.
Clean Shirt 0 Posted March 8, 2010 I think that this is primarily the reason for the different results over the two games. The first game we wern''t top and therefore in Yovil''s eyes beatable. However this time we are top and in thier eyes unbeatable. Its the same problem we had in our prem season the mental atitude is half the battle.

I think the application of both sides were the complete opposite of that when we played in Dec. This time we were fast out of the blocks and didn''t give them a sniff, in the reverse fixture they were all over us and we were lethargic.Maybe it is as you say, because we''re top now, but there''s no doubt also that our attitude wasn''t spot on that day. Jacko 0 Posted March 8, 2010 To be honest I think Yeovil did''nt really care about the league cup. We were desperate to put the 7-1 right. Hence I think that game was more about desire more than anything.

They simply couldn''t match the sheer quality of our lot particularly Holt, Hoolahan and, on the day, Hughes.

At the very start of the season, the first round, it''s a competition that all lower league clubs want to have a bite at. Plus, I don''t think Yeovil were concerning themselves over the possibility of fixture overdose later in the season whilst going for promotion. Fact is, they simply couldn''t match the sheer quality of our lot particularly Holt, Hoolahan and, on the day, Hughes.
