Delia, When Do I Start??

lack of umpf

Recommended Posts

Theres been a lack of umpf for a long while.

When was the last time we witnessed one of our''s clattering into crunching 50/50 tackles, winning the ball, and showing determination to win? Something simple like that would get the crowd encouragement.

Incorrect. There is definatley a will to win in the squad. The reason we are floundering is because we are lacking the following:

1. A player who can deliver telling balls into the opponents penalty area.

2. A captain who demands the respect of the fans.

3. A manager with experience who can demand the respect of the fans instead of commanding their sympathy.

4. A boardroom who regard the team as their top priority instead of off field assets.

5. A squad made up of Norwich City players.

6. A board that will reinvest revenue from selling players back into players.

All these elements have contributed to our demise, yet the fans continue to flood through the turnstiles. We must be the most gullible and unmotivated fans in the world.

im sure they would rather win than lose, does anyone consider the other teams are better than us?what is really annoying is when we absolutley thrash other teams on the play, have the ball 60/70% then lose/draw (like soton at home) we cant score all the chance we get/dont make then chances

You have listed some fair points. Some of which in my opinion(and i dont wish to sound rude) i do not really give much consideration or care  to during the 90minutes of football.

1) Yes, Croft has of late been putting in some excellent performances, but how many times lately i or others have said he should drill the ball in low rather than givving opposition keepers catching practice.

2) Respect should be earned rather than demanding to recieve it.

3) This manager would come at a cost. And we have no financial clout to back him.

5) Making use of the loan system can work in one of two ways, and last season really proved the point for us. Yes, we did fail to capitilise on that situation by making sufficient purchases for all of the areas required, but then the players we did buy in the close-season have worked out well for us, e.g. Hoolihan, Clingan, Stefanovic. Yes. Bell was an exception, but for different reasons.

We can only hope that what we have now is enough to do the trick.

And who knows, if we do manage to avoid the drop next season the CLub may back Gunn (or whoever) by making some of our newer loan signings more permanent. It would have been suicidal for the club to have gone for broke during the January transfer window.
