A Top Class Team Deserves Top Class Fans

Recommended Posts

Over the past few weeks we have been reading about how Norwich City players need to step up to prepare for the upcoming season, realizing that their output in all aspects will have to improve in order to be competitive in the Premier. If we apply the same approach to the Norwich supporters what are other posters opinions of what constitutes a top class fan? If you were able to dream about the way Norwich fans would behave ( and be viewed by others around the country ) both at home and away games what would you like others to say about you and your fellow supporters?
I would like others to say that Norwich fans are passionate about supporting their team whether they are winning or losing in a match, they are very, very friendly and NEVER looking for trouble, that they are good sports in applauding good play on the part of opponents, that they are generous in nature carrying little souvenirs to hand out to child supporters of opponents, willing to go out of their way to help visiting supporters who either feel lost or uncomfortable in some situations. In other words, other football fans around the country can hardly help but form an opinion that, with fans like this, Nowich City deserves to be an ongoing Premiership team. Many may feel that Norwich fans already demonstrate such character. Let me know what you think. A little rider I would add is that the episode at Everton last season could have been avoided, in my opinion, if some Norwich fans did not feel it necessary to chant "fat b*****d" in the first place.

I have to say YC that I think Norwich fans demonstrate a lot of the qualities you have said. I have been going to Carrow Road and conversing with Norwich fans on a regular basis for 10 years now. Not a huge amount of time compared to others I know, but still for more than half my life! The Norwich fans I know, and sit with at the football are all friendly people, who turn up to a match optimistic and with a smile on their face, regardless of what happened in the match the previous week!

I''m also proud that in the 10 years of going to Carrow Road, and travelling away regularly I have never seen a fight involving Norwich fans. Yes, of course there is banter, and in some cases hatred with other football supporters. But in my opinion that is part and parcel of being a football fan and supporting a team. If there was no rivalry in football, it would have ceased to exist a long time ago. Going beyond that boundary of banter into violence is of course, unacceptable. However, Norwich fans know this and abide by it

I''m proud to be a Norwich fan. I support a great family club, with a good manager (unlike the likes of Sheff Utd or West Ham!) with wonderful supporters.

I''m looking forward to a lot more decades of Norwich City support to come!!
