Bermudacanary 0 Posted July 17, 2007 I''ve never bought or sold a footballer obviously, but is it too obvious to say why on earth are the Board setting buy out clauses at a point where we aren''t happy to sell ? Earnshaw is the obvious one - we were perhaps 2m light on that deal - particularly when Chopra went to Sunderland for 5m. Etuhu too - 1.5m isn''t bad business, but given what we have and if he continues to blossom he could be terrific - and the 12% to Preston, it isn''t a great deal either. When we signed these two, neither were dead certs - ie if the buy out is at a point where we aren''t happy, we shouldn''t sign them. Neil Doncaster came into this as a young man with no real football experience, and has enjoyed a speedy rise, but I hope he is learning as he goes, because these two clauses have cost us 2-3m, and we can''t afford to lose money like that.
