* Sometimes  more than

one journalistic judgement – E.E.N., E.D.P or Pinkun.

All League and Cup matches are ncluded, except the Wolves game on Monday - as yet no M.o.M. Column 2 shows how often the player was voted "Top Canary" by a journalist, column 3 how often a player came top of the poll in the pinkun, and column 4 is the sum of these two. The final cloumn shows goals scored.Let others draw any conclusions they like, but what screams at me is the lack of contribution by the central midfielders, apart from Safri, whether measured in "awards" or goals. In awards Etuhu, Hughes and Robinson have together accumulated 6 out of 116.. In goals scored they have managed 2 out of 60, which is less than half the number of own goals scored for us by opponents!It may be the rather unimpressive qualities of these central midfielders which has led to our poor defensive record, and the poor goal difference figure. This contrasts with Safri, who in a season of reguilar absences has accumulated 13 awards and one goal. The "three" may be recent arrivals, but they have been playing since Christmas and should have learned the syle of play, whatever it is, by now. There are some posters who are calling for them to be given more time to settle in, and they may be right, but the fact that all three are so unproductive suggests that one or two players of greater quality will be needed before the new season!
