breaker 0 Posted October 24, 2005 In a bad tempered game Norwich City beat Birmingham 1-0 when a Darren Huckerby sliced shot hits Emile Heskey''s backside and bobbles across the line in the 85th minute. Ashton suffers a cracked skull and requires major brain surgery at half time but returns for the second half on the left wing. Doherty is sent off for head butting Davenport who is carried off concussed. The new central pairing of Fleming and Brennan perform appallingly and Henderson at left back also looks out of place. Green picks a fight with anyone who comes near him and falls over a lot whenever Birmingham cross the half way line. Jurgen Colin, now playing right back, right midfield and right sided attacker, comes in for a lot of stick when the Birmingham winger finds a couple of yards of space, fortunately he passes to Heskey on the penalty spot so the goal is safe.Manager''s comments: (Editor''s comments in brackets)Nigel Worthington, "We worked hard and created lots of chances (one), we passed the ball well (usually one very long pass), and we have now turned the corner"Steve Bruce, "We were robbed by the referee who was dishonest. Oh and the linesmen, they were dishonest too. And the Norwich City fans were appalling, singing the whole game and putting our bunch of expensive, fat and generally useless players off their usual brilliant game. I could do a brilliant job for England though"Delia and the gang, "After this sterling performance it is clear that Nigel is the man to take this club (to a relegation dogfight) forward so we are pleased to announce that we have extended his contract for a further five years"
