A pretty much complete performance albeit against a poor Millwall team. If I was being critical, the bench looks a little light and doesn't contain anyone who can change the game if needed, I also don't get the need to use all five subs which totally changes the shape of the team.

Millwall were very poor, we could (& maybe should) have scored 5 or 6.

Millwall’s sh1tness should distract from the fact that is was a very good all round performance.

He’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think Barnes is an inspired signing. Putting himself about, backing into defenders, harrying and harassing - sets the tone for the rest of the team. I absolutely loved it when he smashed their player with a forearm and instantly screamed at the ref when he gave a free kick: ‘What for?’

    You love to see it

Glad to see some shreds of sense in this thread. Agreed re Dimis performance as well, the only thing I remember Stacey doing was blazing over the bar and ironically thinking max would have burried that.

    Yeah, Aarons is absolutely prolific.

    Do me a favour

N.B. This is not a slight at Aarons, I think he’s an excellent footballer and appears to be a model pro. However, if he wants to depart, it’s best for all parties that he does. I would wish him well and hope he really pushes on with his career.

  3. Darren Beckford.

21 March 1992 vs Everton. This was my first game at Carrow Road and ended in a 4-3 City win!

Beckford smashed in a hatrick & the guy was my hero…until he did very little after that.

I have looked him up and he played at lot more games for City than I thought, so I guess not that obscure. He did only manage another 5 league goals in his stay here..and rapidly declined to obscurity after leaving.

I guess my second entry would be my namesake, big Zeema

  4. I watched some extended highlights on YouTube last night. From that he looked to have put in a energetic and high quality display.

It made me feel quite sad actually…he didn’t even sit on the turf after the game, ruing how Rangers had lost the league title about 3 months ago…

Let’s not kid ourselves, we’ve been pretty rancid all season.

After Idah scrambled in that goal, I thought we would turn them over. Instead I witnessed what is probably the lowest quality 44 mins of football I have seen for quite some time…it was disgustingly sh1te

After all in some ways you can argue that our result against Boro was one of our worst results all season, but in other ways you can at least try and handwave it. Boro are one of the best teams in this divison, half our team is out injured including our two main centrebacks, the weather was awful.. Whatever you want to come up with you can try and just put it down to a one off awful result.

But QPR? They are 20th. Staring down relegation. They lost 3-0 to Coventry in their last match, their last win was over a month ago with a 1-0 victory and since then they have even lost 6-1 to Blackpool.

I mean come on, if we lose tonight what excuses could we possibly come up with?

I put the 5-1 defeat solely down to the awful weather. How were we supposed to play that slick, front foot football we have been enjoying all season in those conditions? It should have been called off.

You witnessed a classic and can tell the grandchildren all about it in decades to come.

Unbelievably my first game at Carrow Road was a 4-3 win vs Everton back in the 90s.

I thought that was the standard of entertainment on offer every week…my visits in the proceeding years haven’t exactly lived up 🙈

  8. I planned on posting last night, but didn’t arrive home until very late!

Despite the result, I enjoyed the game…I don’t think anyone could argue that we didn’t deserve to win.

Very good opening 20 mins or so…if Pukki or Sargent take their chances in that period I think it would have been a very comfortable win.

We huffed and puffed second half & the obsession of playing it out from the back seemed to frustrate everyone around me (indeed we nearly scored first half via a Gunn ‘boot down the middle’)

As a solo fan yesterday, thanks to the chaps around me in the Barclay Upper for their company…myself and one bloke nearly banged heads as Tzolis blazed that last min chance high and wide!

As for the drum…slightly ambivalent. The Sara song was painfully overdone! Miss the old ‘just can’t get enough’ days…

Better tell the 90,000 who'll be filling Wembley for an international friendly on Thursday not to bother then.

I’m not someone who tells others what / what not to do. If they want to pay to watch that garbage, it’s entirely up to them…

Imagine if you'd been born a woman.

    You'd have won......zero caps.

I’m a 38 year old with a Dad bod…& probably wouldn’t have done any worse.

I did play in Level 9 on the football pyramid in my hey day…similar standard to the WSL

Just opened the Sky Sports app to see the top headline: "Liverpool held by Everton after confusion over disallowed goal".

"International break isn't it?" I thought to myself before reading a couple more lines and realising it wasn't men's football but the NEW men's football - WOMEN's football.

It's everywhere. Sky and BBC have clearly made policy decisions to report on games just like men's results, mentioning player's names like they're household names - "Yeah, you know Lisa McFootballer and Jess Van Soccer, they're lionesses, of course they are".

Well, if I want to watch a women's match or find out a score (I don't want to do either) I can look it up thanks very much.

Unfortunately, as is the way with modern media, it's front-loaded on every possible platform so there's no bleeding escape from it. How about WE (the media) tell YOU (the public) what you're supposed to like? We've gotten pretty good at it over the years. The current thing to push will be, erm, I know - women in football! Let's report on it, and get female commentators in and then make them celebrity's so they can go on to host games shows. Great idea! Aren't we so inclusive - high five!

My problem is not actually with women playing football - fine! Enjoy, be an inspiration for youngsters, make a career of it, a legend in women's football, whatever.

My problem is that the standard is utter dross. I've tried watching a few games and have had to turn it off after a few minutes. The goalkeeping is comical, watching them dive over the top of a shot from 20 yards dribbling over the line at 3mph.

"But women are not as physically strong and fast as men!" I hear you cry. Correct. Which is why their game is so poor in comparison.

Point in case was the Australian Women's national team beaten 7:0 by a club team's 15 year olds in 2016. Highlights the HUGE difference in quality and the reason I just can't bare to watch it.

Touchy subject I know. I'll await the deluge of accusatory replies from those who manage girl's teams and who actually champion women's football for their own reasons.

    Not for me though.

Then it is clear that the issue is with the laws, not with Lineker.

    Agreed.

Lineker is a smug, self righteous prat though. I find the fact that he avoids tax on multi million earnings offensive to the rest of the tax payers in the country.

People rant and rave about footballers earning millions, imagine the reaction if they started becoming PSCs!

Just for those who decided to spout rubbish based on no knowledge - Lineker won his case against HMRC so he is not a tax evader.

The separate issue on rights and wrongs of loopholes and tax law that could easily be tightened are for the govt -who could easily do more but simply don’t want to, largely as they/their mates are using them.

Not a tax evader, but certainly a tax avoider. As previously commented, trading as a PSC (Private Services Company) means he will pay corporation tax on ‘company profits’ (25% on profits over £250k) instead of tax at the usual income tax rate of 45% (annual salaries over circa £125k per annum).

No laws were broken, but it makes you pretty sick that someone earning the ridiculous figures he does, has a lower % tax rate than someone earning circa £50k per annum (40% income tax)
