1.
They are clueless. They have no idea what they are doing we will end up with Zola at this rate god forbid
So you''d want a quick appointment - anybody, as long as the appointment is fast. You would be the first to squawk if an early replacement had been announced. Can see the post now, " idiots make hasty decision, what was the hurry?"

  2. The OP is being criticised for negativity and not giving the guy a chance to prove himself with us. This would perhaps be fair criticism if Mackay had been installed but at this time, it is just an opinion and a warning against the appointment.

As I have said in other threads, I feel too many are influenced in Mackay''s favour by a delusion that because he once played for the club he will bring something extra that others would not possess. He has had a string of former clubs (as player and manager) and allegiance to all of them would have ceased on the day of his departure.

I just hope the delay in events is nothing to do with waiting for him to be excluded from other applications (notably West Brom).

  3. I despair at the number of deluded supporters who are keen to see Mackay appointed for the sole reason that his ex-player status makes him preferable to non-ex-players. The man has a string of ex-clubs and his allegiance to any of them will have ceased the day he left them. It should not be a consideration and the persistent use of Malky as a word of attempted endearment, should fool nobody.

Our best manager for many years (Lambert) had no playing connection with Norwich, indeed probably didn''t know where Norwich was in his playing days. So let''s hope the board are delayed by considerations other than waiting for their beloved ex-player to rule out other more attractive possibilities.

Surprised nobody has picked up on it.
Maybe because its complete guesswork and speculation on your part?
Well there''s obviously something that''s not falling into place as McNally anticipated a week ago. I''m just putting two and two together and my suggestion is the only one that is coming up as four.

Check out the Radio % show from lunchtime

start at 6 mins 40 and listen to him speak about Aaron Ramsey and say how he played well against US!!

Couldn''t get on with SkyBet, PP or Stan James  - im barred from all of them but 7/4 as it was represented unbelievable value
Is he referring to Cardiff v. Arsenal?

  6.
Chuffed with that. We''ll need players like that next year.

Desperately disappointing that Roy opted for Foster over Ruddy. I hope Ruddy gave him an earful down the phone!
The part which disappointed me was Hodgson courting Foster to return to the England fold after the player had washed his hands of international football and "retired."

When John Terry''s name was put before Hodgson he was rejected on the basis that he had retired and that was that. He then seeks out his former player and persuades him to make himself available again after two years out.

I feel that whole episode really stinks and must make Ruddy all the more disappointed.

  7.
Every time we need a new manager, there is always a clamouring for an ex-Norwich player to be given the full time job.

    Why is there this obsession?

Is it a Norfolk thing? Are people scared about some "outsider" coming in and changing things?

Even now all I see on here and Twitter is people desperate for Neil Adams to get the job, and others saying Malky. The only real reasons these people can give is "because they understand the club". Gunny, Grant and Megson "understood the club", which worked out really well. Lambert probably didn''t "understand the club" - say no more. If I had to choose out of the two above it''d have to be Malky because of his previous experience with Watford and Cardiff at the top end of the Championship. But you have to ask yourself if these names would even be considered had they not ever played for us. I doubt *anyone* would be calling for them to get the job otherwise.

The euphoria when Adams took over from Hughton was bordering on ridiculous. I will be so disappointed if the board do it on the cheap again. However, it seems that''s what a lot of fans want. I''m pretty sure the board had this small time mentality when they allowed a Facebook campaign set up by Gunn''s daughter to get him the job!

Sod all this "understanding the club" nonsense - I want someone to come in and win football matches. That''s the beginning and the end of it as far as I am concerned.
Spot on, all the way through and yet all the support (apart from this thread) seems to be for Mackay. I don''t see him offering much more than Hughton did but of course he''s an ex Norwich player. So we refer to him affectionately as Malky, like he''s one of us. It''s a bit like Iwan Roberts trying to pretend a heart-felt association with Norwich. This quickly went out of the window when we played the Welsh clubs.

It''s worrying reading other threads, looking at the bookies take and listening to the odd rumour, all of which suggest its as good as done. I just hope not.

  8. The West Ham/Sheffield United relegation is another case which shares similarities. Tevez played when ineligible and the F.A. got out of a cock-up by imposing a large fine when they''d let it go too long to reverse the relegation which a deduction would have done.

  9. If you think the change of manager was delayed to the point where it was too late, then that delay doesn''t hold a candle to the delay in transferring the business to a new investor.

A largely debt-free club in the EPL would attract a range of investors, the most acceptable could be selected and the asking price would be considerable. As a Championship side, the attraction is decimated along with the value to any buyer.

  10.
I have a feeling McNally wanted CH gone in the autumn. Correct me if I''m wrong, but I seem to remember there are four people on the board. Now if McNally and Bowkett wanted CH gone, while Delia and Michael wanted him to stay, that would have been a stalemate. Surely a majority would have been needed for CH to go?Best not to blame DM when we don''t know the facts.
I am thinking there are at least seven on the board but however many, if one or in this case two, have a large majority shareholding, does it much matter what the make-weights think?

  11. At the risk of having my comments designated as stupid by Juggy, I would point out that the permanent promotion of NA to first team manager from running the U18''s could hardly be described as working his way through the ranks. I would not imagine that the given examples - Mourhino, Rogers and Hughton, ever took over as managers at the top level without having either coaching or AM experience at that level.

Having said that, I would be concerned by the red-hot bookies favourite who I am not so sure is much more astute than CH. This business about Malky being an ex-player who knows the club rings a bit like the support (which quickly evaporated) ahead of Gunny''s appointment.

  12. I did say there are plenty of exceptions and you have listed some. Wenger is a real example of the point you make but Stan Cullis is more difficult to accept. The old style centre half could never be considered a mid-field player, he would be at the heart of defence dealing with the threat of the centre forward. In those days, there was no possession play in defence, full-backs and centre-halves would simply unload and that applied at any level of the game.

I just don''t see much in McKays CV to suggest him to be any better than our last manager, I see him in the same style as the guy at his former club - Allardyce. Another ex- central defender whose style today matches his playing days.

  13. I always think it''s useful to look at a prospective manager''s playing days as a bit of a pointer to the playing style of any team they might build.

Lambert - brilliant mid-fielder, Hughton and both his sidekicks - never ventured past their own 18 yard line. Yes, there are plenty of instances of craftless players who have excelled in management, Ferguson for one but there are so many others they haven''t.

I fear that McKay falls into the category I describe and to keep referring to him affectionately as Malky annoys me greatly. In the moneyed world of football, thinking he is "one of our own" is a ridiculous argument.

It appears to me that many of the most vociferous Hughton outers are now calling for Malky. Weird.

And as many others have said, just what do the Lennon advocates base their thinking on? Literally anybody to manage Celtic since the two-horse race became a one-horse run-out.

  14. I fully agree with the points CanaryOne makes.

In answer to the OP question, I say an emphatic - yes.

Whether it be an individual playing sport or a team, playing to your highest level possible is what you should strive for. And for supporters of a professional sport, why would they be content to pay money watching players who can''t cut the mustard when for a largely similar sum they could watch the world''s best talent?

As I said in another thread, just note what Burley had to say about where Norwich are (for the moment) and where Ipswich have been in recent years.

I also mentioned the possibility of us having one local derby next season and the horror scenario of that one derby opposition being a Cambridgeshire club and not a Suffolk club. Life couldn''t be that cruel could it?

  15. I agree with the contents of your post except the two examples of a quality manager that you give.

Lennon''s managerial experience at Celtic is in a wholly unreal situation. Nothing should be attached to his achievements there. You could equally suggest Roy Keane, two of a kind.

Mackay does little for me either, I see little in his CV to suggest he has achieved more than the manager we have just got rid of.

  16. I can''t imagine anybody is blaming NA, he should never have been put in such a position by McNally.

Today, despite the anticipated "bounce", saw a repeat of what we have seen time and again. A total inability to turn even one of numerous chances into goals, followed by conceding ourselves. From that point the opposition (Fulham in this case) crowd their defensive midfield and it is game over as we are clueless about breaking through.

Was the performance better than it would have been with Hughton still in place? - marginal but maybe. Would Hughton have better prepared us for the last four? - probably yes for the home games, no for the away matches.

Has McNally acquitted himself well? - no possiblies or probablies here, stitched all stakeholders (note the jargon) up a treat.

If this nightmare plays itself out as it might, please no, we could have a local derby next year. And it could be, not in Suffolk but in Cambridgeshire. A real nightmare scenario.

  17. I have to say that I was shocked by the appointment of Neil Adams. Not because I think he could not become a Premiership manager but because I feel he or anybody else need involvement at that sort of level before diving in. Certainly his U18 experience gives a basis for progressing to the higher level of football but as an assistant or coach, not the big job. Preparing a team for a Premiership game and preparing youngsters for an U18 match bear no comparison.

Which leads me to ask what experience Messrs. Robson and Nevin have of football at this level. Is it that the only experience we will have in the dug-out will be the goalkeeping coach?

It''s little wonder McNally is trying to rally support behind NA today because it is his hopeless handling of things in the past year which have put us where we are. He was happy to take the plaudits when the Lambert appointment went as well as it did but he will not answer questions on his own future if things can''t be turned round.

  18.

Hughton''s Norwich.....P71 Pts76......Lambert''s Villa............P70 Pts75....."Messier" lol. [:D]
Lambert''s Norwich P142 Pts 216''"Messiah"  lol
I was talking about their comparative records since Lambert left Norwich. (explanation needed for the hard of understanding). [:''(]
Yes and I was then showing a comparison of Lambert''s form whilst at Norwich to help you better understand why we call him the messiah.

To quote a great man "Explanation needed for the hard of understanding".
Totally irrevelant comparison given that Hughton didn''t manage us in the lower divisions. And short of the board resigning almost en bloc, do these muppets understand things so poorly as to see Lambert ever returning?
